8 To 4: The Mayor's Contract Wife

8 To 4: The Mayor's Contract Wife
Dito

When Wira woke up, she found that the room lights were already on and the sky outside was getting dark. Wira looked at her watch and the time had already shown it at eight p.m. The hero got up and walked up to the glass window to see the situation out there.

Although not clearly visible, but Wira listened to the waves that vaguely greeted his ears, coconut leaves waving because of the sea breeze of the night and the sound of cheerful laughter that sounded from below.

Wira looked up and saw Ajeng was joking while burning fish in front of the inn with a young man. They look familiar to each other. Wira had never even seen Ajeng laugh so hard and after that while with him.

Out of curiosity, the hero came down to approach them.

“Udah wake up, Mas?” sapa Ajeng when seeing Wira.

The girl went back to talking and laughing with the young man.

“Sini Mas!” Ajeng put the fan he used to fan the roasting of the fish then approached and invited Wira to sit near the roasting. “Kenalin, this is Dito, his men Mas Wira.”

Dito shook the hand of the Hero politely. “Dito, Sir.”

“Fruit?” ask the confused girl.

Still with face sumringah Ajeng explained, “Dito is his granddaughter the owner of this inn and happens to be a new employee in the public relations and protocol section Pemkot.”

“Humas?”

“Iya, Sir. I have only been serving two weeks in the broadcasting subbag replacing Mr. Sahir who was mutated to the Agriculture Service.”

“Oh, so you're the new reporter?”

“True, Sir. Sorry because I haven't had time to greet you and introduce myself officially.”

“It just so happened? We can meet here.”

“Dito, the fish has died!” call Ajeng and the young man immediately ran over to Ajeng, raised the fish they roasted and placed it on a plate that had been coated with banana leaves.

Ajeng looks very happy because he successfully completed the mission with his first fish. Now he was about to continue with the second fish but was afraid to touch the fish that was still raw. So Dito took it for Ajeng and teased Ajeng by pointing the raw fish's face at Ajeng. Ajeng walked away laughing cheerfully and beat up Dito's arm which kept teasing him.

Wira does not know that Ajeng is easy to get along with strangers. How can he directly call Dito only by name when he knows that they are coworkers and Dito is his subordinate and Ajeng is Dito's superior and that he is there but as if no one cares about him.

“Hem..hem...” dehem Wira.

Suddenly the atmosphere became quiet. Ajeng and Dito's laughter suddenly stopped hearing Deheman Wira. The two looked at each other unable to understand the meaning of the short voice coming out of the Hero's throat.

“Mas Wira want to try to burn the fish?” tanya Ajeng melted the ice between them.

Wira approached Ajeng and picked up the fan that Ajeng thrust at him. Ajeng then taught him how to fan, apply the seasoning and know the level of maturity exactly as Dito had taught him before.

Dito then challenges Wira to pick and take the fish with his own hands. Without a second thought, Wira immediately put her hand into the ice box and how shocked she was when she found out that Dito had deliberately prepared the fish that were still alive in the box.

So that Wira jumped in shock and became their laughing stock. The heroes then began to dissolve in the joy of the two of them. The three began to look familiar to each other, laughing together and sharing ignorance without realizing that the innkeeper's old couple was observing the three of them from inside the inn.

*************

Dito turned out to be a very pleasant figure. Although the Hero was initially awkward towards him, but the young man managed to knock down the sturdy fortress of the peerless Hero. The skinny young man brought a warm ginger wedang that felt very fitting to be enjoyed in the middle of the cold air by the beach that night.

“Jahenya ginger emprit that was burned first continue to be boiled using palm sugar on a charcoal furnace.” Obviously Dito.

“Oh yes, earlier Mas Wira had a stomach ache because of drinking coffee. Why don't you drink this?”

“Shouldn't be papa. Doesn't Mr Wira drink coffee too?” tanya Dito was happy.

“Also?”

“I also don't like to drink coffee.”

“Oh yes?” Wira looks very happy to know there is another man who is just as bad as him. But he felt a little relieved because it means Dito will also not be included in Ajeng's coffee friends list.

Dito later recounted that his grandparents were fans of real black coffee. They even make their own coffee and make regular coffee drinks such as mineral water so like and often they drink. Not only that, Dito's grandfather was even more extreme because he didn't really like the sweet taste. So he always drank a thick bitter coffee as if he was drinking delicious milk.

“By the way, you live here?” ask the hero suddenly.

“It used to be but now it's not because I'm boarding near the office since moving to the city hall.”

“This inn looks good and comfortable even though it looks old enough.” Chirpe Wira.

“Heem, really. My grandfather built this inn when he was young. He said the inn was very famous and often visited by high officials. But since the construction of the massive hotel, our inn began to deserted. Especially since the public transportation line to get here was cut off and diverted to another line.”

“Why severed? This is an incredible travel potential. There is a waterfall near the beach. The view is beautiful too. There is a distinctive and attractive morning market for tourists.

“Usually there were many crimes, legalization and missing persons in this area. Because it entered the red zone, the government plans to isolate this place for a while. But suddenly a monetary crisis occurs, the government is in chaos and this problem so buried at the bottom.”

“Waw! I did not expect Mr. Wira to know that much about the history of this place.” Praise Dito which sounds more like insinuation.

“What is it worth insinuating a mayor who knows his own territory like that?” reply Hero.

“It's not like that my max, sir. While still in the Population Service, I heard many stories that Pak Wira was a piece imported from the city to occupy the main seat in the Carang Sewu theater. The person is arrogant, not considerate, indifferent to the citizens and the city, also can not work well aka burden. But hearing you say something like that, I don't think everything they say is true.” Kilah Dito cleared up any misunderstandings between them.

The hero just smiled wryly at the assessment he had always heard from others all along.

“Not all, but indeed everything they say is wrong.” Ajeng Correction. “He was the one who worked the earliest and came home from work the last time, had the least rest and the heaviest workload, he was also the one who could never not help but talk about work, even when helping injured people down from the hill discussed still only about work. Not pawns but king.”

Wira looked at Ajeng who spoke loudly defending himself in front of Dito. He did not expect that Ajeng would do such a thing in the presence of a stranger they had just met.

“Just because Bu Ajeng has a lot of time to get to know Mr Wira, does not mean that all other people's judgments are wrong, right?”

He breathed a rough breath. “OK. I will show you what is right and wrong according to my scales.”

“Weighing?” dito did not understand.

Wira then laughed out loud. He did not expect that Ajeng would still use the term scales in this matter. He stood up to Ajeng and then pushed Ajeng's body into the inn. He did not want Ajeng to again make a fuss and ruin all his plans in front of the innocent and idealistic young man they had just met that night.
