8 To 4: The Mayor's Contract Wife

8 To 4: The Mayor's Contract Wife
Remaining Memories

That day, Ajeng was able to get out of bed by himself. Although to walk far he still has to rely on a wheelchair, but Ajeng's condition has shown rapid progress. With the help of the bodyguards, Ajeng came out to breathe fresh air. Then a young man with a neat appearance, pale furrowed and handsome face approached Ajeng while bringing him a bunch of beautiful bouquets.

“Welcome back!” whispered to Ajeng “You must be Ajeng, right? Know me Bara, your future husband.”

Ajeng turned his face away and left Bara's hands unrequited. He hoped the man would get angry and leave him alone. But what he did was the opposite. He pushed Ajeng's wheelchair and took him around the hospital garden while explaining every corner Ajeng saw.

Instead of making Ajeng entertained, the park actually makes Ajeng want to cry because he remembered Wira. But Bara who did not realize it continued to invite Ajeng to chat one way. Because Ajeng did not intend to respond at all.

Even though the two bodyguards were following them, the man seemed completely unfazed and thought those people were non-existent. Satisfied walking, Bara invited Ajeng to stop by the hospital canteen for a while.

“You something? Coffee?”

Ajeng again bowed lethargic hearing the drink that had not succeeded the Conquered Hero. Instead of answering, Ajeng pushed his wheelchair back into the room. The guards swiftly helped him push. But Bara first grabbed him and pushed him back into the room.

After returning to bed, Bara still faithfully accompanied Ajeng even though Ajeng had tried to ignore him and pretended to be asleep.

“You must have found a very amazing experience out there to the point that you refused to go home.” Bara's chirps while playing her phone on the waiting sofa.

“You mean?” Ajeng who had been pretending to sleep finally hooked as well.

“Cause. I already know everything.”

“Your family also already knows?”

Bara shook his head and it made Ajeng a little disappointed. If Bara had told his family, the chances of their matchmaking being cancelled would have been great.

“Why?”

“Because I don't want our matchmaking cancelled.”

“But... Why?”

“Because the wedding will greatly benefit many parties. We cannot always be selfish and think only of ourselves.”

Feeling offended by Bara's babble, Ajeng went back into the blanket and pretended to sleep.

“Yes already, have a nice sleep. Tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, and tomorrow again I will come again and again until you also agree to our arranged marriage.” The dimpled man finally left after a long talk.

Hearing that, all Ajeng had in mind was how to escape from there. He will never consent to the match, for he has tethered his heart to others.

**************

“People who find out your identity are Rega, people who dare to be presumptuous to take you to Graha Mukti.”

“Rega?” He breathed a rough breath. “People who always disturb and threaten Mas Wira. He definitely wants to use me to take down Mas Wira.”

“After the person who forged your marriage license, it looks like Papa is targeting that person.”

“Wait! What brother mean? Dito?”

“Yes, the young man who just moved to the city hall from the population and civil records service.”

“Iya it's Dito. What's papa lakain with him?”

“Dipecat with disrespect.”

Ajeng back crying, “Why Papa could not do that, Brother? Dito was not wrong. He only ruled his superiors.”

“All the people involved have been cleaned up and soon it will be Rega's turn and the people involved and know you.”

“Ngga brother! I need to talk to Papa. Papa can't do that, they're not wrong, brother. I was wrong.”

“Sorry Brother, Jeng. Sister can't do much to help you.”

“Sister, may I ask one thing for you brother? Please find out where they kept the shirt that I last wore at the time of the incident.”

“For what?”

“There's my stuff left there, brother. Something very valuable to me. I beg.”

“OK, okay. After the condition improves, brother will find out for you.”

“Still, Brother.”
