Chapter 21 - { I Just Believe You}

"Did you miss me?"

A deep hoarse voice lingered in Selena's ears and spread in her heart, making the heart beat fast.

Lucas's voice!

"Do you not want to see me" he said later.

"A month without news. All of a sudden you come to see me, if it's you, Lucas aren't you mad." Selena said with a voice that started to shake. Selena was happy to hear Lucas' voice again and at the same time she was upset.

Lucas took Selena's hand off.

She looked at Selena who was still on her back. Looking at the figure of Selena he had just seen for the first time, his closed look made Lucas seem fascinated as he looked.

Ever since Andre and Selena arrived, he had already been standing by the side in Selena's neighbor's house.

They are unaware of Lucas' whereabouts, as he was hiding earlier. He doesn't want to see Andre here.

Lucas retreated slightly and gave both of them some distance. With a smiling face and a tone of indifference he said. "Are you mad at me, Selena, for not telling you?!"

"Why should I do that?" ask Lucas then.

Lucas wanted to make sure of something. So he didn't try to hold back his feelings this time like he had all this time.

Selena's attitude to him like this, makes Lucas have expectations that he never dared to imagine.

Lucas does not doubt the liking feelings he has for Selena. It's just that he doesn't understand what Selena's response would be like that.

During this time Lucas never dared to ask questions like this to Selena, because Lucas doubted Selena had the same feelings for him.

Selena's hands clenched tightly. He squeezed out his left hand that was holding nothing with a feeling of anger inside his chest.

*aa... Lucas didn't ask that wrong.

Why should he tell himself*.

They have no close relationship except for Selena who thinks they are friends.

And Selena remembers what Lucas told her.

"I don't want to be your friend Selena."

Lucas said to Selena, his eyes filled with determination and his words did not have any doubts.

On the afternoon after graduation, Lucas came to Selena's house, he said those words to her.

"Although then I will come to you again and again. Until you get used to me. If you ask why Selena ! With my attitude towards you all along, didn't you already realize it very clearly."

And Selena was silent at the time, not answering a word until Lucas disappeared from her sight.

At the moment Lucas is coming back, with him saying he didn't want to be Selena's friend at the time, then why Lucas still comes to him constantly.

The unexpected presence of Lucas, makes Selena afraid and at the same time full of anticipation.

He always loses if a stranger treats him with care and tenderness.

Selena lives in the hope of gaining the love of others. He once wished on someone he liked to reciprocate his feelings. But he was ultimately hurt.

Selena has hope in her mother who will return to be meek to her someday as in her childhood memories. But he also had to endure the pain until now.

He had high hopes for the people he cared about, and wound up again and again in his heart. He was cruelly destroyed by the relentless reality.

Even so Selena did not hesitate, and continued to believe in her hope.

She still has Cristine who loves her. And Lucas....

It's a lie that Selena says she's not afraid to fall in love. The proof is that he has doubts about the person in front of him and continues to deny a sense of security and comfort when they are close together.

Selena was afraid that she would be disappointed in the end. And he's too cowardly to get used to feeling back his once broken heart.

But Lucas did not give up on him, all this time he always came. No matter how Selena pushes him away or pretends to be unaware of Lucas' feelings for him, Lucas will come over and over again, trying to convey his true feelings for him to know.

Selena can't run away anymore and denies anything this time. Lucas's absence this month, made him finally aware, the existence of the foreign man had been accepted into the comfort that Selena continues to look for.

"I don't have the guts to think about that about you, Lucas." I don't think I deserve your love.

Lucas came back closer, his tall body slightly bent. "Then what do you think Selena, tell me. I want to know."

Selena with her lips quivered and nervously replied. "Like..."

He's not sure!

"What do you think?"

*I don't know!

I'm not sure!

We only got to know each other for a little while with the first meeting that got us into a fight.

Your haughty behavior and your cruel words, I somehow see it as sincerity. From the beginning you came to me, you never pretended to be yourself.

And the kindness that you have done, you did not use that to pull me forcibly to your side.

I'm quite surprised to know how dependent I am on you.

You came into my life without warning and I was caught off guard with you always coming to me. Until I get used to your presence.

Supposing that you liked me, I felt that it was the dumbest thought I had ever made.

It was just my guess, so how do I know how you really feel about me.

If you never even said you liked me. So how I presumptuously thought that your gentle demeanor, which you showed me all this time, was because you liked me.

If you hadn't said that you wouldn't be friends with me, I wouldn't have dared to think that Lucas liked it, maybe I would have kept thinking that you just felt sorry.

Tell me the truth, is it true and not just my guess.

Because of me, I guess, I also started liking you*....

Lucas continued to stand there, looking at Selena's small, narrow back. He stepped closer and hugged Selena's neck from behind.

Her handsome face was on Selena's right shoulder, she was very close to Selena's already flushed ears hidden inside behind the cloth she was wearing.

"Lucas." call Selena with a little surprise in her voice. She did not expect that she would be hugged like this by him, and in front of his house as well.

"I love you Selena.... Ilove you. " Lasuke said in a voice that only the two of them could hear.

Lucas whispers in his ear make Selena a little surprised, she is a little dazed, and does not know how to.

"I... "

Lucas did not allow Selena to answer straight away, she said "I didn't expect you to return my confession just now, now Selena. You know about how I feel about you, you've wanted me all along."

Lucas let go of that one-sided hug, and Selena turned to face Lucas completely.

"We're still in school." heard this Lucas smiled happily. Selena did not say any words that implied rejection at all. But there are few complaints about the fact that both are still in school.

Lucas understood Selena's intentions, if his mother knew he was related to a man at the moment, who was not benefiting would have been Selena.

"I can wait."

Quite a moment of silence. And then Selena nodded.

How Lucas didn't feel good seeing that. He felt a sense of euphoria that made his chest want to explode full of happiness, his lips kept smiling and a radiant face Lucas could not cover.

"May..."

"... may I kiss you again." Lucas deflected his words suddenly as he wanted to say the thing he had been craving all along. He has to be patient and wait.

Selena looked at the nervous Lucas and wanted to tease him a little. "Not that he hugged me without asking permission. Why just se...."

Then his body was held tightly. And Selena stared helplessly at Lucas who was without cue.

"I haven't said I want to, you're so annoying." her mouth said annoyed but Selena returned Lucas' warm embrace. He put his hand around Lucas' waist. And Lucas's chin, which was pressing on his head, made him feel like this was still a little unreal.

"Thank you, Selena, thank you."

"Grand."
