Chapter 17 { I Just Believe You }

"I'm planning on joining Bahar to Lya City."

In the not-so-hot afternoon, Rehan and Lyana were sitting on the front porch of the house.

Today they're off work, Rehan's been unemployed for a month. And he sometimes becomes a coolie in his neighbor's house if needed.

Although Rehan received very little wages, the money was still enough to eat their family two days ahead.

While Lyana who is still half a month away from getting a salary, must save money this month.

Because of the poverty they have felt so far, Lyana sometimes thinks of just getting divorced from Rehan.

Lyana felt she was very young, and maybe if she went to the city, her economy would get better.

Then that bad thought he tepis as he remembers Selena who is already big.

"I'll go with you."

Surprised rest. "No. You should be at home. Let me go."

"At any time our son will graduate. You should be busy with the school registration later."

Suddenly Lyana said coldly. "Selena won't continue her schooling."

"What doyou mean. Selena should continue her education. If he doesn't go to school, what will he do Lya." Rehan replied in an angry voice. He did not want their children to be like his uneducated parents.

"Conscious. We don't have the money to send him." Lyana hissing is angry.

"I'll try harder. Poor our son." Rehan began to soften his voice as he looked at Lyana who had started to get emotional.

"Efforting. What was the result Rehan. You've been saying that for years. But look at our lives."

Rehan was stunned by Lyana's loud voice. He felt guilty in his heart for his helplessness. When she looked at Lyana with teary eyes, Rehan turned away and did not continue their conversation.

She always couldn't stand Lyana's crying. Her heart as in Lyana's tears painfully. It was because he, as a husband and father, Rehan felt that he had failed.

Both of his parents died when Rehan was a teenager. He did not graduate school because of his poor parents.

From the time he was 13, Rehan had been working to support himself.

When he marries 15-year-old Lyana, Rehan only has this simple house to take Lyana.

Rehan did not demand anything about the sudden marriage his uncle had proposed at the time.

As a child who had no parents, the words of his uncle at that time were absolute that he could not refute. So he obeyed whatever his uncle said.

Even if the girl he was about to marry hated himself for almost a year, Rehan persisted.

They have been married for 14 years together, despite many trials and obstacles, Lyana still obeys the marriage she does not want.

Rehan was already very grateful for Lyana's greatness. So as much as possible Rehan obeyed whatever Lyana wanted.

Even if his actions look stupid and unreasonable to people, Rehan will not care.

Rehan's love for Lyana has blinded him.

"Then what do you want to do with Selena after she graduates."

"Do you remember my friend Herni. Last year he came home. Do you remember." Lyana suddenly spoke with excitement.

Rehan frowned and tried to remember this person named Herni.

"I remember. He came home from Jakarta."

"Absolutely. He's home now. I went to Herni's house yesterday. And we talked a lot of things."

"I'm planning on getting Selena to come with Herni to the city and work with him."

"What are you saying. Selena is too small to work. I don't agree." Rehan refused firmly.

"Then what do you suggest Rehan. Or if you don't agree I'll just get her married after she graduates, is that what you want."

"Married. You've gone mad. That's the last thing I'm gonna do. Don't equate Selena with the kid in the village next to Lya."

"That ridiculous rule of your family, don't you take it to our son." Rehan continued in a tone full of warning.

For the people in their village, a 15-year-old girl should be married off immediately.

The thoughts of the elders in this village are still carried away until this time. With fear of bringing shame to their families, the girls in this village have been married at a young age.

For example Lyana, because of the thought of her parents who are afraid of her daughter becoming a spinster, they forcefully marry Lyana who just graduated from school.

And Lyana would do that to Selena, how could Rehan just keep quiet.

Coupled with Lyana's unanimous decision not to continue Selena's education, Rehan could only sigh with a feeling of regret and guilt.

"I've decided it. Selena's going to Herni to Jakarta, if she doesn't want to then I'll just marry her. After all Maya had warned Selena to marry Andre." after saying so Lyana went into the house with a cold look."
