The next day everyone talked about how their rankings dropped one by one. I looked at the school communicator who was on my wrist and it was written ninth place.
Ray does not realize how much influence his fight with Eric. Eric was originally ranked 9th since his first year while Ray had the lowest ranking at 280.
Normally, after basic training, we were forced to duel with people who were one rank above us. So, winning or losing will only end up with an exchange between positions.
When Ray beats Eric, Ray jumps to ninth and Eric drops to tenth. This meant that everyone who was below rank nine had dropped one position.
Usually within the top ten ranks, their positions would often swap, or they would slowly rise in rank just like the monks did.
The fact that this thing had suddenly happened and no one knew about the duel taking place, it shocked everyone.
Fortunately ranking positions are not publicly displayed and are only recorded in the communicator tool. So no one knows that Ray is currently ranked 9th.
But that didn't stop the students from talking about it. Many people asked Eric who had defeated him but he did not want to give any information. Maybe he was too embarrassed to tell everyone that he had been defeated by Ray.
I was still taking a break from training so I used most of my time to go to the library. I tried my best to learn whatever information I could find about the dragon knights and holy witches but to no avail.
As I walked back to the dorm, I was surprised to see Gary and Kyle helping to embrace someone back to our room. His body was covered in bandages so it was difficult for me to recognize who it was.
When they entered the room, they quickly put the person they brought to bed. I also recognize that person.
The person wrapped in the bandage was a monk. He looked like he had been badly beaten and even some of his limbs were broken.
I rushed towards the three of them.
"What's going on?" Ray asked.
Monk couldn't even answer, he seemed unconscious at the moment.
"That's Sebastion, he did this! it happened after our training was over, he came and challenged the monk to a duel" Kyle said.
"Why is he doing this?" Ray asked.
It was almost impossible for someone to get injured this badly while doing a ranking match. The system will usually stop the match before one of them has a severe injury. The only possibility that happened was that people continued to attack him after the winner was announced.
Gary was sitting on the bed next to the monk, his face even more furious than before.
"It's all my fault, Sebastion is currently ranked second. So far he has not been able to defeat me even once during the sparring. After he saw my fight and the monk, he wanted to challenge the monk. Monk agreed but Sebastion.he let the monk exhausted after that he defeated him, he did not stop and continued to attack him. I tried to stop him with Kyle but he brought a bunch to fight me and Kyle. By the time we reached Monk's place he was already in his present state."
Monk's eyes began to open, his eyes swollen so that all that was seen was a small gap in his eyes.
"That's you Ray?" The monk said trying to smile.
"How are you? Sorry, I don't think I can make your bed today."
"That's you, but why would you do that?"
Ray was surprised because every day when Ray returned to his bed, his bed had been tidying up these past few days, Ray has no idea why or who did this and even in such a situation Monk is still thinking about it.
"What do you mean, we as black belt knights should help each other, after all, aren't we family?"
The monk then turned towards Gary.
"I'm sorry Gary about our fight, I know you didn't take me seriously. I wanted to prove to you that I could do something, I didn't mean that far."
Gary held Monk's hand.
"It's okay monk I know, just take a break, we ask Wilfred to bring in a witch so you can heal faster."
The monk closed his eyes and fell asleep again.
"We have to do something about that guy we have to teach him a lesson and punish him, Gary" Kyle said.
"I wish I could, but I can't."
Gary clenched his fists hard.
"Why?"
Just then, another voice sounded from the corner of the room.
"Because Sebastion is part of the Delbert family."
I turned to see who was talking and it was Slyvia.
Kyles' eyes were wide open from what he had just heard.
"You mean, the Delbert family."
"Who cares about that, look what they did to Monk," cried Ray, Ray did not know why he was getting angry after hearing Delbert's name.
Slyvia started walking towards us.
"I guess you don't understand Ray, there's a reason why he can get away with things like this. His father was the knight master Delbert."
The fact that Ray has just learned of this gives Ray more reason to beat Sebastion. Ray had never liked Delbert from the start and he had always been against Ray. If Ray could humiliate his family in a match then it would kill two birds with one stone.
"Ray I know what you're thinking but don't do it, you can get kicked out of school" Gary said.
"Don't worry, as long as it's through the official ranking matches then I won't get in trouble, right?"
When Ray went out of the room, Slyvia had gripped her sleeve to stop Ray.
"Where are you going."
"I'll do the same to Sebastion as he did to monks, no one can touch my family."
Slyvia instinctively took off my sleeves. He seems to be afraid of me. But I don't care about that now, I only have one thing for now, which is to focus on that match.
