When I wanted to ask Martha about it, an announcement was heard telling us to go to the dining room.

"Please go to the dining room, where you will be notified of your rank and belt."

The seven of us arrived at the dining room and sat together at the designated table. Even though the exam was over, the atmosphere was similar when it came to taking the exam. Some people were nervous, sweat pouring from their heads and even praying, while others were excited with anticipation.

This time the room was warmer. As night fell, they lit a huge bonfire in the middle of the stage. Now the large paintings on the walls look more detailed because they are exposed to the radiance of the campfire.

Suddenly the orange-colored lights lit up as one by one as the master knights climbed onto the stage.

On stage stood Wilfred, Delbert, and Barnardo. Next to the three, were the other two Master knights who also appeared at the trial site, the other a man dressed in black with a scarf covering his face and a female archer.

Each of the knights held a box in their hands that contained a different colored belt in it. Wilfred then stood forward with the box in hand.

“We will now announce the results of today's assessment. When your name is mentioned please go up on stage to receive a sash from one of the following knight masters."

One by one the students were called onto the stage and given sashes from boxes. The sash was plain light in color so it was easy to distinguish from each other. As the students took to the stage, they experienced a mix of emotions from the colors they received.

Some people jumped up in excitement and shouted to the crowd as they received a white sash, while other boys cried while receiving a red sash. The belts are distributed from table to table. Finally it was our group's turn.

Ian and Slyvia both received white belts, as expected based on their performance in the exam. And having received a blue sash, looking a little disappointed with the result. Martha was very pleased with the result of receiving a green sash.

When he came on stage, he looked nervous. Walk slowly and rigidly up the stage. I can understand why he is like that.

Monk like myself did not do well while performing one of the tests and only managed to complete one. Most likely he will receive a red sling.

When he went on stage though surprisingly he had been given a black sash. The monk excitedly took a sash and bowed quickly down from the stage.

The noise in the room increased as people talked about what had just happened. The monk is the only person so far to have received a black sash.

When Gary's name was called, he walked confidently onto the stage. After all, most people would say that Gary was the best performing student of the day. There was no doubt in his mind or anyone else that he deserved the White sash.

Surprisingly, when he arrived on stage Gary was also given a black sash. Gary stared at him for a while, not directly taking it from the hands of the master knight, it seemed like he was in shock.

My name was finally called, I went on stage and wished like everyone else to receive a red sash, but I didn't mind because it was my main goal from the start.

When I went up on stage, I expected Bernardo to step forward because he had distributed the red sash to the students.

Instead, the all-black-clothed knight master had stepped forward and given me a black sash. I took a sling and immediately left the stage.

After the sash has been shared, the celebratory meal has begun. The party was lavishly made, with high-quality ingredients and the best dishes on the table. I've never eaten such good food before.

We sat down at our table and started eating, most of us enjoying a pleasant conversation other than Gary who looked a little moody, until he muttered a few words.

"Why did I receive a black sash? what does this mean?"

The table became silent because we knew Gary was upset by this, after all, black was a strange sash color. No one knows what it means and it's hard to gauge whether it's good or bad.

Gary was considered to have done his best in running the test, me and the monk were considered the worst, yet we all received a black sash.

Slyvia was the one who ended up breaking the silence.

"I tried to talk to one of the second-year students who was also wearing a black sash, but he didn't want to say anything about it. He was happy to talk about whatever other things it was, but not about his black sash."

"Maybe we're special" said the monk.

It seemed like the monk's timid nature had changed ever since he received the black sash. He started talking to us more often.

"There are cases where Knights change ranks later on, so I won't worry about it too much." Slyvia in her own way seemed to be trying to comfort Gary.

Gary then looked at me seeing that we both had the same colored sash and started to smile.

"It looks like we're going to practice together."

I smiled back but didn't say much. I'm just as concerned about Gary about what happened. I originally wanted to get a low-rank sash color. This way I will be given more free time and away from the eyes of the Knights.

In the end, I received a black sash, a color that no one seemed to know.

A total of four students had received a black sash. Thirty received green. Ten received white color and the rest mixed various colors. Black is the rarest color. Of the 300 students only four students get a black sash, this is all still a mystery, why only a few get black.
