THE NOURA VAN KEMMERS

THE NOURA VAN KEMMERS
Story about Gedoran

"Did you know about the incident?" Jordan was surprised to hear my question. He seems so enthusiastic.

"Of course I know. I read a lot about the history of Depok and including the past life in this region" I replied. I lied again, hehehe. I just found out about the events of Gedoran ya through Noura. He explained to me about the incident. The rest I just search for myself on Google.

"Yes...It also caused my ancestors and other Dutch people to fear and eventually leave the country.

The frightening event occurred as the Nation entered the Prepaired Period state," Jordan began to explain.

"Will you prepare?" my many.

"Yes... Called the time of preparing when the Indonesian nation has just won its independence, the euphoria to celebrate independence is everywhere. One form of euphoria was marked by assault and intimidation of Dutch citizens and their descendants. Not only the Dutch totok, but also the indos and also the natives who behave to the Dutch-dutch.

"The event began with the arrival of young people who joined the army of independence. Their arrival was initially to check the news about whether there were areas around the capital that were dim in response to the euphoria of independence. At that moment, the euphoria of independence echoed everywhere. Every Indonesian people in all directions shouted at each other and they saw Depok as one of the regions that they said were mediocre in welcoming the euphoria of independence. And they suspect Depok as part of a pro-Dutch territory. This is reinforced by the existence of some Depok residents who are members of the community formed by Cornelis Chastelein or known as "Dutch Depok", Jordan Winhern explained.

"And there was a massive attack on anything and anyone who is considered still to have something to do with the Netherlands in this region. Starting from the attack on the Dutch community of Depok to the indo and Dutch citizens totok(original).

"The "terrible event took place on October 11, 1945, over a period of months. Characterized by loud pounding on the doors of the houses of the citizens and then there was a stabbing with sharp weapons. Then chaos, looting to rationing occurred in a large scale. According to the information I got from the ancestors, the event was a very frightening human tragedy" Kulirik Noura who still seemed enthusiastic to listen to the explanation from Jordan Winhern.

"It just so happens that Papa has an archive of articles and photos about the incident. Come on Bang, let's go to the library!" take Jordan.

Curious. I don't know why I'm getting curious. I who initially just want to find out about the origin of Jordan Winhern now even more want to know about the most historic events in this city.

Jordan took us into a neatly arranged 4 X 6-meter family library room. There are three large cabinets containing a row of books, journals and also photo albums.

"What a cool thing ! Your dad is awesome Yes ! He must be a fanatical book lover, "the tail of my eyes continues to observe the entire room.

"Yes, that's it. Unfortunately its nature is not down on me, Bang! hehehe. I don't like to read much, especially write. Only a few of the books I have read here. And about the events of Gedoran Depok, I know a lot from the stories of my ancestors in generations and also from some references here. Moreover, my ancestors had experienced it firsthand.

I don't know why I see myself in Jordan. We both have a lot in common. Neither is a hobby of reading, both love music and are in a circle to uncover the history of the past. Jordan who is still in lineage has to do with the victims of the Gedoran event and I who was forced to find out about the history of the past events because of Noura. Kulirik Noura who was still speechless with the same expression. Flat and looks sad.

Jordan again showed me some books and journals about the events of Gedoran Depok. I was stunned to see some black and white photos arranged on a journal sheet.

"This is my Grandpa Moyang's house, Bang! It is located in the old Depok area. This house bears witness to how this terrible tragedy happened.

Fifteen years later after Indonesia's independence one of my great-grandfathers returned to this region... But everything has changed. The house they occupied was empty and barely maintained. Some furniture's been ripped apart."

"But our family is lucky compared to other families. At least my ancestors did not die. Opa Frans, Opa Rueben and Opa Jacobus who must get physical attacks from youth irregulars. They were dragged outside the house, then taken by a group of people while being kicked and beaten. It happened at night, when everyone was getting ready to rest. Then Oma Bertha, my Grandmother and Oma Magda (the youngest child of Oma Bertha and Opa Frans) were kidnapped and taken to a refugee camp in Bogor. Opa Frans and her two sons managed to escape. They were separated for about six months. Opa Frans and her two sons, Opa Rueben and Opa Jacobus, were taken captive in Bogor..Then they managed to save themselves after being rescued by NICA soldiers. Then Oma Betha and her youngest child, Oma Magda, who was 15 years old, were taken prisoner in the Gemeente Bestuur building. After being rescued by NICA, they finally reunited. Because the condition in Depok that was increasingly not conducive coupled with a sense of trauma during captivity, finally Opa Frans decided to return to Amsterdam." Jordan explained again very clearly. Noura continued to listen to Jordan's story with enthusiasm.

Seriate.
