THE NOURA VAN KEMMERS

THE NOURA VAN KEMMERS
Bayu Aries

Oh yes, my name is Bayu Aries Anugrah. Commonly called Bayu. I am the first of three children. According to the story of Mama and Dad, while Mama was struggling to give birth to me, suddenly a strong wind blew from the window. And at that very moment, they agreed to name me Bayu, which means wind. And Aries is the name of the doctor who handles the birth process. While the name of Anugrah, of course because my presence is a gift for Father and Mama who have been waiting for a baby for five years.

I have two sisters. Male and female, my younger brother named Galih, he is still a first semester student at the University of Indonesia, and also, a younger sister named Ratna who is still in High School.

My father worked at the Government Bank. Because of his achievements that continue to skyrocket, he got a promotion as deputy head of branch in Jakarta. Because you can't get far with your family, you brought us all.

Although it was hard leaving the hometown, there was no other choice for me but to move, let alone having my lecture completed, who knows, there, I can get a better chance for my future.

My sister Galih was the most pleased when she heard we were moving to Jakarta. At that time, Galih had just passed the SPMB exam and he was accepted into the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia. For Galih who was spoiled from childhood and could not be far from his parents, of course he was very happy. He could go to college and stay close to Mom and Dad. Moreover, our residence there is very close to the campus.

While Ratna was the opposite, she was sad when we were about to move to Jakarta. He felt it was hard to part with his friends and school. He got stressed and got sick. Two weeks before we moved to Jakarta, he was hospitalized for an acid reflux attack.

The house in the old Depok area is indeed most prominent compared to other houses around it. Of course, because of the unique shape of the building. I remember, the first time we entered the house, several people including the RT chairman greeted us and said they were happy to see the house will be repopulated.

"Well, thank God, this is an antique house. It's been seven years empty." Said Mr. RT.

This house although old does look very well maintained. According to the neighbor, The homeowner diligently controls this house and even recruited some neighbors to clean this house. Starting from the front yard, the inside of the house and the back of the house.

Upon entering the house, we were stunned to see there were some old furniture and wall hangings still attached to some corners of the house. Furniture and decorations typical of the colonial era, said Mang Udin, the next door neighbor who is often asked for help to clean this house.

Of course I'm more amazed to see all that. Fantastic, as Father commented. It was like we were entering the life of the past century. The model of each room divider is really similar to the one I've seen in classic films, as well as the ornaments. Near the kitchen there is a wall decoration in the form of a sculpture of iron plates in the form of carvings inscribed with the inscription "Van Kemmers".

Mang Udin said, it was the name of the Dutch people who inhabited this house for the first time. Amazingly, the engraving of the iron plate did not fade even though it was decades old.

"Like living in a caesium huh Yeah?" ratna said flatly.

"Where do you like it?" ask Dad.

Ratna pouting. His eyes were constantly directed around the house. Starting from the roof of the house to the corners of the room.

"This house is spooky, isn't it Mang?" ratna asked Mang Udin.

"If there is something to wait for or not there must be. Everywhere there must be, Neng. On the mango tree in front of my house. What matters is that you don't bother."

"Mang Udin, have you ever seen an apparition or heard such sounds?" ask Ratna again. Ratna was starting to look pale. Kasian, he must have started to get scared.

"Alhamdulillah, never Neng. As long as I'm here, I've never seen anything weird. Yes, there may be sensitive types of people who can see sightings. But not everyone, Neng." Reply Mang Udin.

"The time used to be occupied by tenants who before, never had a strange story. Time in the same place of the pair of artists, almost never horrified the serem-ceremony. Just be usual."

"Udah, calm down. Even if there is. God willing, it will not bother you. The pair of artists who inhabit this house has never been a strange story before. The housemaid until the baby sitter of his son, never disturbed. What matters, each one. We don't bother them, they don't bother us." It was clear that Mang Udin was again.

"The shrimp don't lie, do they?" Ratna made sure again.

"Oh Allah, Neng. I am old, Neng. Why also lies. Nothing's in my favor."

Mama emerged from the front porch, apparently Mama just finished chatting with the neighboring mothers. Mama approached Ratna and embraced her. Mama also seems to agree with Ratna. Trying to calm Ratna who was so curious about this house.

"The house is cold. My mother was also less involved with this house. Just look, if there is a strange incident, we immediately lift our feet from

right here!" whispered Mama.

"As long as we stay here, we don't get dumb. Read the Quran and dhikr. Do not break up praying five times," said Mama firmly.

Mama is a bit sensitive to things that smell astral. Although never seen directly, but Mama seemed to have a strong instinct about the existence of invisible creatures.

"Just like Ratna doesn't sleep by herself. Ratna wants to sleep with Mama!"

Seriate.
