The New Civilization of Witches

The New Civilization of Witches
Chapter 48: The new monster

While Roland, full of interest, was talking about implementing a fair trading system, the distant sound of a horn could be heard!

The patrol team would only honk if they were unable to cope with the current situation, warning the city to gather soldiers.

Roland and Carter looked at each other in surprise, and then immediately walked out of the castle's backyard, where the guards had already prepared horses.

Roland directly climbed on his horse and rode with Carter and his men towards the wall.

When they arrived at the wall, they saw that all the militia members had climbed the wall and taken their place, setting up a spear forest.

Seeing this gave Roland a feeling of relief – the eggs were not in vain at all.

Looking at the Northwest, Roland could see a group of black shadows approaching Border Town. He reckoned that their number was more than twenty.

Iron Axe left his defensive position and ran over. After saluting he said,

"Your Majesty, this group of demonic beasts approaching us seems a little strange."

"Any?

Are you saying that they don't usually act as a group?

“Not it,”

Iron Axe explained, “if they pack animals before autumn, then they will still maintain that habit – like a wolf species.

But this kind of species does not belong to this type, they usually will not act like this, they seem to be on a mission.

Previously the hunters had seen the beasts kill each other.

” Demonic beasts are just a mutation of their previous kind, their actions will mostly be similar to their original habits,

but at the same time their desire will become stronger. In a sense, the intelligence of a demonic beast was inferior to that of a savage beast,

due to their maniacal nature, they even crossed dangerous areas that they would normally never cross.

Roland carefully observed the group of demonic beasts. He could see extremely large and small beasts and could distinguish at least two different types of beasts, he said,

one kind of wolf and the other bison. Species that would normally kill each other suddenly find out that they must work together to achieve something.

As it still had to pass through several obstacles and traps created by Iron Axe, they slowly crammed in front of the city's central wall.

Van'er felt his hands getting wet from sweat, his grip holding the spear becoming somewhat slippery.

Taking advantage of the fact that no one was looking at him, he quietly wiped his hands onto his clothes.

Captain Hunter repeatedly said, “You must relax; take a deep breath.”

Van'er repeatedly tried to do this but was still unable to stop his accelerated heartbeat.

He had been living in the West for over a decade, and he had always heard about the evil deeds of demonic beasts.

Since the beginning of the Demon Moon, the demonic beasts that came occasionally were all shot down by the hunting squads, so he slowly lost his fear of demonic beasts.

He even considered himself a brave and formidable warrior in battle,

but today, facing so many demonic beasts for the first time, Van'er's legs were still trembling.

He reminded himself that he was chosen by His Majesty as vice-captain, so Van'er tried to show a calm performance, and maintain a defensive position.

The group of demonic beasts was now close enough that he could see their appearance. Running in front was one of the demon beasts of the bison species.

On his head he had two horns as thick as an arm, it looked like a black ram. The hair growing on his back seemed to cover him tightly like a robe.

When it was only thirty feet away from the wall, Van'er could feel the ground shaking. He licked his dry lips, and waited for the Captain to issue an order to stab.

Then a loud explosion could be heard. The bison demon beast actually did not reduce its speed, either,

but his head hit the wall, completely smashing his head and splashing black blood everywhere, painting the walls black.

Van'er did not even have time to breathe, the bull was immediately followed by two wolves jumping off the back of the dead bull.

“Push out!”

Hearing the Captain's orders, Van'er subconsciously thrust his spear – even though the wolf species did not rush towards him.

This thrusting effect was clearly not as good as their thrust during their training.

while the others did not react for a long time even after hearing his orders.

As a result, only one wolf was pushed back and the other jumped through a crack in the spear forest and landed on the wall.

"Dragon formation!" shouted the Captain once more.

Although Van'er wanted to turn into a bird and see the situation where the wolf jumped on the wall,

The Iron Axe had stressed many times during their training that when something broke through and came behind the front row, it took their attention. ,

the front will turn into the most dangerous area. So he stared straight at the next group of attacking beasts with his eyes,

and gripping the spear was as strong as he could. The elite hunting forces were clearly more trained than the ordinary militias.

Even before the wolf landed, the hunters had already taken out their swords.

Iron Axe is the fastest of them all. He jumped right in front of the wolf, just one step away, raising the hilt of his weapon, he said,

and firmly stuck it in the wolf's waist, hitting the wolf while it was still in the air so that it stretched many times in the air.

Whether it was strength or defense, after the demon beast mutation both increased significantly.

Such an attack obviously did not cause too much damage to him. The wolf could still stand up as soon as it fell, and flaunt its sharp teeth.

Unfortunately for the wolves, the muzzle of Iron Axe had already reached his head. Bang! – The demon beast's skull exploded and its brain matter flew everywhere.

Without his brain, the wolf took a step back weakly and fainted while twitching.

"The beast is dead, keep your position!"

"My stomach ah!" Someone loudly shouted in despair.

Van'er could see it in his peripheral vision. He saw a friend leaning against the wall, clutching his stomach tightly, with his hands covered in blood.

"The juice flows out."

"Another wolf has stormed the wall again and clawed straight at him!"

"Help me .." "Damn, someone took a cloth to suppress the wound!" It was a chaotic scene, the other demonic beasts, like wild boars, also rushed towards the wall.

Although the skin and flesh were rough, the boar was so close that it became a hedgehog due to the arrow arrows fired by the hunters.

"Everybody don't panic!" Roland thought, If Nightingale is here, she can save them from some trouble.

Then he shouted, “Have you forgotten what you learned during training?

How do you treat an injured person?

Handle according to rules!” Hearing the prince's cry, Van'er soon awoke and remembered his duty.

As the Vice-Captain in charge of the defensive segment of the wall, he was responsible for arranging rescues whenever someone was injured.

He ordered his two subordinates,

"You two, hurry up and get him to the medical center, hurry!"

According to their previous experience, the subordinates believed that this person would not survive.

However, His Majesty once said, doing something and not succeeding is one thing, but doing nothing is forbidden!

As Deputy Captain of the militia, Van'er needed to prioritize the execution of orders and regulations.

When the wounded comrade was taken away, order was finally restored on the wall. This wave of demonic beasts seemed to be huge, but only a few could threaten the militia members on the wall.

The hunters shot the remaining demon beasts one by one. Seeing this, Van'er was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.

Although the entire battle only lasted half an hour, he felt empty, and had no more strength.

However, at this moment, the person responsible for watching the demonic beast shouted again, “Yes God, what is it.?!”.

Van'er could also see a new beast. Although the distance was still far from the wall, the outline was still clearly visible.

This beast is truly a monster! Van'er swore, even if ten oxen were stacked in front of this monster, they could not compare.

Only an experienced Iron Axe could immediately identify the newcomer. He had to take a deep breath to calm himself down. There is no doubt that this is a hybrid species, the militias are in trouble.
