The Long Way to Be a CEO

The Long Way to Be a CEO
That smile

“Sorry dad, I won't go home, even though dad forced” I told the 73-year-old.

Highlight his eyes only glared out the bedroom window, noticing the rippling white clouds in the distance of the sky. He was pensive to think about something and was probably holding back his emotional turmoil because I who never heeded his orders and ran away from home abandoned my own brothers.

“What's wrong, you already have it all, I just want to see your current condition”.  His words did not care about my existence did not dare to meet face to face.

How may I accept it, the selfish man who had treated us like a replacement machine for himself, who could no longer show himself in the business world. He wouldn't know what it's like to be a tool for the satisfaction of others even if it was my own father.

“You are like me when I was young, hard-headed and sometimes careless in deciphering all things. In business it is good, but not always you have to look at the ideal that you hold, many people will suffer because of your carelessness later. Advice from a seasoned businessman is different, he has tasted the salt acid of life in the business world that is not always easy.

“Go home occasionally, your sisters need you son.” Said later.

“One day I'll be home. But not for now, I still have a lot to finish”. My kilah subtly refused.

......................

To me all his nonsense is an absolute order that cannot be denied. I've known my father's character for a long time and now when I grow up I have more freedom over what I do and what I don't want to do, it's that simple.

Unlike the usual, now he is more like softening and not forcing, either because of his old age or because he realizes his mistakes so far, especially to his children. Even so, he did not say much to me at this time, only a few lectures about business, because that was all he could talk about long ago.

Although his wealth is abundant, but since childhood I have no desire to be able to have it. Let it be said by all his business colleagues later I will inherit all the assets he will inherit, I do not take it seriously. After Mom died there was a turning point in all of our lives. Dad locked himself up in the study and, since morning, had gone to the office, was never really there for the three of us.

That's where I decided to get out of my family's confinement, freeing myself to be a simple person who since childhood was more accustomed to talking with the maids at home or playing with children in a small village not far from home, and I was often exposed to the scolding of my father because of it, he said, children my age must learn a lot, take additional lessons so that later they can contribute to the company. A classic, outdated excuse I never liked.

After a few minutes he was in the room, Mr. Danang entered with Indira and greeted us who were silent too awkward to talk like children and parents.

“Mr Ellard, this is my daughter Indira, her name is”. By applying politely he introduced my future wife who looks gerogi is facing her own future father-in-law, my father.

“Ah.. Indira, thank you for taking care of Sharon all this time, I hope he did not bother you much during this” said my father pleasantries that he already knew our relationship from the info of the pack and who often communicate with father.

They're both business partners, just different generations. Long ago, before Mr. Danang pioneered his career, it was, he worked as an assistant father and for 5 years and decided to run his own business because he felt he had found his way and was now successful in becoming the largest fish farm in West Java.

“Oh no sir, it was Sharon who helped a lot and even saved me”. He said, he was a little afraid to find my father who was so sharp look at his eyes looking at Indira.

“Indira don't follow your father to call me master, and you are my son-in-law. Call me like sharon called me”. He asked Mr. Danang and Indira not to call him master because it looks like he has a boss in the company.

“And how is the preparation? Already settled?” I didn't understand what they were talking about, the two men left me in the room.

My guess is they were planning our wedding which was delayed yesterday. And now my father is really involved with Mr. Danang.

Never mind, just let the parents get busy with their own business.

“Hmm... sha, why don't you ever tell me anything about your family?” I realized one day he would inculcate this, even though I didn't think I should tell him now.

“Ya.. I told you that one day you will know, and yes…. Now you know it, right?”.

Indira just nodded slowly, and sat beside the mattress then lay down on her hug, my heart beat like a revolt thumping fast. Maybe he noticed it and kept his head on my chest.

“Why baby...” my question.

“Nothing, always comfortable in your arms, and hear your heartbeat.”

“I want to be like this continue with you” his face flushed red, maybe he was embarrassed by what he just said.

May God really make us a match and can enjoy all the moments together until the end. I never thought again of finding another woman to replace the presence of indira, she was the most perfect woman I have ever known, and only he can make me this crazy to love him without the slightest doubt in this heart.

Indira was a little flutter when my father, and his father entered the room without knocking on the door first.

“Eh. We seem to bother you. Sorry then” said mr danang.

“Tiii. no, dira was just checking sharon's condition, we didn't do any pah”. What kind of reason it is, obviously there is a Patient monitor, which records all my conditions in realtime. Basic indira!.

But only that time I saw my father laughing because of his misbehavior and said things that did not make sense.they came back and left us alone.

I really missed my father's smile when my mother was alive with us, her typical laughter with a few eyes closed. I miss all our precious moments.

Thank you Indira, you have returned my father's smile. My mind gives me great gratitude for having indira, until we get married, I will try to be a husband who will continue to make you happy at all times, because you are part of my life.
