- Sakura Flower Inn
Kansuke took Kimura away, because the Klan's situation was now no longer safe for them. At first Kimura did not want to leave because she felt her father would return. However, with great effort Kansuke convinced him to leave the Clan.
On that aimless trip, Kansuke sees a Shop.
"Son, how about we stop by the tavern? Hunger makes worms in uncle's stomach rebel." Kansuke asked holding his stomach while smiling faintly.
"Yes uncle..." Kimura replied softly with a blank look.
In front of them was a fairly large shop. Kansuke felt the food there must be good, because the front page of the Shop looks a lot of horses, which indicates that many visitors also come to the Shop.
Kansuke who was riding a horse, stopped not far in front of the Shop, he then got off first, then carried Kimura to get off.
"Take good care of this katana, son." Kansuke pointed at the katana in Kimura's hand which was wrapped in white cloth.
"Every uncle." Kimura replied, nodding slowly. And then put the katana in her clothes.
Kansuke tied a horse in one of the tavern's supports, then stepped in with Kimura.
The first glance he saw when he reached the door of the store was a variety of visitors who seemed to work as traders were chatting with colleagues, and there were also a pair of lovers who were eating food. A lot of visitors almost filled this room.
They then looked for an empty spot, Kansuke's eyes fixed on the table with three seats as a place to sit. Although, sitting at the table located at the very end of this room. However, he still heard a little visitor conversation.
"I heard from my friend that a war was taking place in the Uesugi Clan."
"Indeed, I also heard the news, there was a rumor that said that the Clan leader was killed along with his Elders."
Kansuke then returned to his original intention here. He raised his hand to call the servant.
One of the maidservants approached her.
"Welcome to the Sakura Flower Inn." The waiter said with a friendly smile.
Kansuke was instantly confused, he felt that he was now in a Shop, but why did the waiter say this was the Inn.
"It's Lodge?" Ask Kansuke.
The waiter understood why the man in front of him wore a confused expression, he had often heard the question every time a visitor stopped by.
"Yes. It's an inn, it looks like a shop, sir look at that door." The waiter pointed at a closed door behind him. "If you enter the door, you will find various rooms. This room is directly connected to the Inn." After giving an explanation the waiter let out a slow breath.
Kansuke smiled nodding in response and again said, "However, I still do not understand why this room is so much visited by visitors, who just stop to fill the stomach."
"This room was first created initially for the visitors who stay, but with increasing time people come here just to eat." Said the maid.
"I know that, but you didn't answer my question about why so many visitors came here with the intention of just filling their stomachs." Reply Kansuke.
The servant again sighed while putting on a complicated expression.
"Because the food here is known to be delicious, maybe that's why visitors who initially just want to stay, when they find out that here the food is delicious they then tell their friends to come here." The waiter stopped, then opened his voice again. "The owner of this inn then thought to enlarge this room, then intend to make a kind of restaurant that is more or less the same as the Store."
Kansuke wanted to laugh at the waiter's expression. However, because it felt bad he had better endure it.
"Oh yeah, I'd like to order 2 meat soups and don't forget to serve your best wine." Kansuke said, ordering food.
"Good sir." Answer the waiter.
After the waiter left, Kansuke then turned to the left looking at Kimura who had just been silent.
"Uncle thinks we better stay a day here. Do you agree?" Ask.
"If I were, it's up to Uncle." Answer Kimura slowly.
It is seen that the sun will soon set, the afternoon changes to the night, the light changes the darkness.
While waiting, the food he had been waiting for finally came.
"From the smell alone it looks very tempting especially the taste..." Kansuke said as he reached into his pocket.
"10 Bronze coins Sir..." Said the waiter.
The currencies in this Empire were bronze, silver, and gold.
"I don't seem to notice my finances..." Kansuke smiled shyly. "How about I, pay for this food with my energy."
"I mean Sir?." The lady's servant seemed to not understand.
"I ask my boss first." Said the lady's servant.
The servant went to report to his superior, and a little later the servant came back again, but not alone, she came along with a man who had a bloated belly and a thick mustachioed at a glance of 40 years old.
"Include my name Xi Yan." The man named Xi Yan extended a hand.
Kansuke returned the hands of the man. However, he did not answer his introductory words. "Xi Yan's? Then you're not from the Meiji empire?" Ask Kansuke.
"I'm not from this empire..." Xi Yan shook his head slowly. "May I know your name."
"Oh yeah. My name is Kansuke." He said with a thin smile.
Xi Yan nodded.
"My waiter told me you wanted to pay for this meal by doing the dishes." Said the man named Xi Yan.
"Hehe, yes Sir. Can I pay that way..." Kansuke said softly, looking a little embarrassed.
Kimura who had been silent, now said, "Kimura will also help Uncle."
Xi Yan's glance fell onto the little boy, then returned his gaze back to Kansuke.
"could certainly. But I wonder why you don't have any money at all?" Asked Xi Yan.
"A question like this is obviously not going to be answered. I'm fooled to say my clan was attacked and taken over so I don't have any money." Kansuke dissolves with his thoughts.
"Master?" Xi Yan frowned.
Xi Yan's words cut off his chain of thoughts, making him look back at the man.
"I'm just a wanderer sir, who comes from far away, because I don't pay attention to my finances when I stop at various places I run out of money..." Said slowly.
"Can I eat sir, after that I promise to wash all the dishes... Because I have to leave before the sky gets dark." Said Kansuke a little annoyed because the person in front of him, inviting him to continue talking.
"I'm sorry for bothering you..." Xi Yan chuckled softly, but reopened his voice, "Why do you want to continue the journey of these nights, beyond danger when night falls."
"Do you want me to clean the others so you can stay at your place." Kansuke raised one eyebrow.
"Mom.and not so sir, but the truth is that outside is dangerous at night." Reply Xi Yan.
"Is this place able to pawn anything?" Kansuke.
"Paying goods is often done by merchants when stopping here when they are short of money." Reply Xi Yan.
Kansuke took the katana from behind his clothes, intending to pawn the katana to stay here.
"I want to pawn my katana." Kansuke put his katana on the table.
Cold sweat poured from Xi Yan's temple, remembering the time he assented this person in front of him when asking to pay with his strength. He knew that if the person in front of him wanted to, he could be killed easily.
"I'm sorry Mr. Kansuke!" Said Xi Yan while prostrating on the floor while holding onto Kansuke's leg.
Kansuke who felt uncomfortable, then lifted the man's body.
A Samurai was highly respected throughout this empire. Yet... Xi Yan was almost looking for trouble with a Samurai. Which makes him feel so guilty.
Kansuke and Xi Yan sat down.
"Can I pawn this for a day's stay." Kansuke repeated his words.
"No courage, no courage!" Xi Yan shook his head repeatedly. "Master can stay and eat here."
"Then my niece and I will help clean this place up." Said.
Xi Yan wanted to open his mouth but lost quickly to Kansuke.
"It's okay Mr. Yan." Kansuke said with a faint smile.
"Then please eat sir. Son, if you want to add more, call the waiter yah." Reply Xi Yan with a slight change in his tone of speech.
"Thank you uncle..." Kimura's Response.
Xi Yan then saluted then returned to his room.
They also eat well. After eating, at night. Kansuke then invites Kimura to rest. Arriving at the room, the two of them immediately collapsed on the bed.
