The Law's

The Law's
Chapter 7

Sherine returns to her town to finish her assignment going to Thomson's residence.

In the carriage he stared at the open window thinking about what he would do later, suddenly his mind was disturbed by a man in a hat sitting in front of him.

"Hi" Sapa the man in the hat.

"Hello" he answered with a flat face.

Unacquainted with the man, Sherine ignored him and looked back at the window.

"The air is blazing outside, but you're the only one looking out the window" said the man in the hat.

"Oh, must be because you saw someone else closing the window and wearing their hat, and–you think I'm such a freak?"

"No" he said briefly.

"But because you look so much like my friend. Surely you're a person who likes to think critically" he continued.

Sherine nodded her head. "So–your friend also likes to pop his head out the window during hot weather?" Ask Sherine.

"Not only is the weather blazing, even when it's cloudy or foggy he sticks out his head, you know he looks more like a dog."

Sherine's stunned. "Oh, you mean your friend is likened to a Dog, you intend to insinuate me too?"

"T-no, that's not what I mean Miss, but–"

"Sorry but I'm not your friend and goodbye!" Exclaims.

The station notification bell reads. Sherine stepped out with an irritated mind. He could be likened to a dog. The thought still bothered him until a white car stopped in front of him.

The windshield of the car came down to show a girl. Yeah, who else if not–

"Hi, how was your vacation in Helton?" Ask Elizabeth.

"I'm visiting someone not on vacation."

"Yes, yeah. Come inside."

Elizabeth drove her vehicle. On the road as usual they talked. Looks like Sherine forgot what happened on the train.

"Oh yeah, what was the mission until you were told to go to Helton?"

"Actually I didn't help Miss Hudson's mission, but instead. You're the one who's gonna help this mission find a way out."

"really?! thank goodness then. Where are you going next?"

"To Thomson Hendrick's residence."

"Would you go there?"

"Finding evidence, Parker said it was my job to get the Cctv footage, but it seemed like the most effective thing was to find Thomson's residence card and his wife."

"Population card–you mean? Don't-don't!?"

"True, they are Easterners. To prove it, I have to go there and find it."

"And I also have a duty for you" he continued.

"Huh, me?!" Elizabeth was confused.

"Yes, go to the Edelweiss estate and give this paper to the occupants of house number 17."

"Wait to tell me the name of the intended person, the occupants of the house are not just one person," Elizabeth lamented.

"Take it easy, the occupants of the house live alone. If he doesn't want to open the door for you, just slip the paper. Beware of the neighbors who will kick you out if you know you want to interview him."

Elizabeth read the paper she was meant for someone. "Helen Loise?" Her speech.

Elizabeth slowly stopped her car. "Good luck, Eli," Sherine said.

...****************...

Elizabeth drove her car to the Edelweis estate. Arriving there, he looked carefully at house number 17. Until he finally found it.

"House is the same. His name is also housing" he murmured.

He was standing at the door of a house owner named Helen Loise. But he hesitated to knock on the door.

Elizabeth looked to her right and left, worried about Helen's neighbors who would throw her out.

His determination to knock began to gather. He knocked on Helen's door expectantly. But the result–

"Ya–just free I'm here, I'll finally–" There was a sound of someone yelling. "Can I just calm down!"

"Why is that you, Helen?!" Elizabeth didn't believe it.

The wooden door creaked. Looked at a girl with shabby clothes and dreadlocks that did not seem to be taken care of.

"Can you go now!" Helen was upset.

"You're Helen Loise?" Elizabeth still couldn't believe it.

Helen's eyes were round looking at someone in front of her. "You–"

"You're the guy I almost ran over?!" Ask Elizabeth hysterically.

"You're the owner of a white car, huh?"

"I-I really can't believe it! So you're Helen?!"

Elizabeth held Helen's rough hand. "I-I was really worried about you, thank God I was able to meet you. You know I don't even eat all day because I'm afraid something's happened to you" Elizabeth said in a hurry.

Elizabeth breathed. "I'm really sorry I hit you, you're okay, right?!"

"I'm good" said Helen casually.

"Don't scare me like that, just say Helen?!" Elizabeth said with a panicked expression.

Helen pulls Elizabeth's hand in. "We'll talk inside, yeah."

They continued the conversation rather awkwardly and it seemed that Elizabeth's attitude had managed to get Helen to invite him in.

As soon as the two of them were silent, the room became creepy because between the two of them no one started a conversation.

"It's because I'm too lazy, yeah. Helen must have been scared and thought I was a freak" she said in her heart.

"No need to apologize, I-I was wrong" Helen bowed her head.

"It's okay, as long as you're okay, it doesn't matter."

"Eum, I'm Elizabeth. Looks like my friend's been bothering you, I'm sorry, yeah."

Helen took a breath. "What exactly is your purpose here?"

"We–"

"I knew. You must be accusing me of being a suspect, right?" Sela Helen's.

"Not so, we just wanted to ask you for an explanation Helen."

"Lied!" Helen shed tears.

"Get out of my house, let me calm down" Helen said.

"Lho, you're the one who told me to come in?" Elizabeth was confused.

Helen opened the door and told Elizabeth to come out.

"Wait a minute, listen to my explanation"

"Get out!"

"Helen, why are you so scared, I haven't even asked you anything. We're talking well, yeah. Calm yourself first" Elizabeth said.

Finally inevitably, Helen sat back down and listened to Elizabeth's explanation.

"Why are you so scared?"

"Because, I realized I had been involved in the murder" he said in fear.

Elizabeth was stunned, but with her professional continued questioning. "You saw all that?"

Helen nodded. "I don't know, either, what I'm doing is tantamount to aiding a murder."

"I don't understand, so you're a witness or not. Please tell me all that in detail."

Helen wiped her tears, then caught her breath. "I was just told by the madam to escort Mr. Robert to the great master's room."

"Mrs Miranda?"

Helen nodded. "After that?" Ask Elizabeth.

"I-I heard a commotion from inside."

"Ruckus?"

"Yes, someone who is fighting."

"So–tuan Robert had a fight with Mr Thomson after the murder?"

"I don't know about it, really."

"then, you don't know about Mr. Robert getting hit in the head?"

"I really don't know about it."

Elizabeth breathed heavily. "How could you not know?!"

"I'm sorry" said Helen.

"Alright, I can only give this to you. Whenever you're ready, call this number" Elizabeth said, giving him a piece of paper with a phone number.

Helen's hand took the paper, and she saw Lamat.

Elizabeth looked at him with pity. "She's an innocent girl, I can't force her to answer all the questions I'm asking" she said in her heart.

Elizabeth got up from her seat. "Then I'm sorry, I really hope you call us."

He left without a word from Helen. Yes, the innocent girl immediately closed the door tightly.

Helen leaned against the wooden door, then grabbed the piece of paper Elizabeth gave her. The tighter his hand grip, to make the paper tear.

What are you guys thinking?

Of course he did it intentionally.

Butwhy?

...***...

"Your clothes are weird, you're Middle Eastern?" Said the shopkeeper looking at the appearance of Sherine wearing a veil on her head.

"I'm a Westerner and not a tourist at all" Sherine said, looking for clothes.

"Oh," said the shopkeeper cynically.

"Are you uncomfortable with how I look? then let's just say what's in my head is a shawl."

Hearing Sherine's words made the shopkeeper upset. "Cih," he said.

Sherine sighed. The waiter with a look of dislike was forced to question Sherine who was a buyer.

"What the hell are you looking for?!"

"Nothing, this shop doesn't have what I want" he said, folding his hands together.

"How dare you say that! just your taste is je—"

Sherine's eyes turned to the clothes the shopkeeper was wearing.

"What?!" Ask the shopkeeper.

Sherine smiles. "I bought your clothes."

"Well?!" Ask the waiter still can't believe it.

"I mean it, give me your clothes and you can buy nice dresses here" Sherine said, reassuring the waiter.

The waiter was still doubtful. "I know, you like that green dress, don't you? yes, although the price of the clothes you wear is not the same as the price of this dress, but– I will pay according to the price of the dress," he said immediately gave money to the waiter.

The waiter's eyes sparkled, then smiled. "I accept."

"Good," Sherine replied with a happy smile.
