The Law's

The Law's
Chapter 3

Along the way home, Elizabeth unceasingly told me about her and Felix while still in college.

"It is fitting that you are very familiar it used to be one campus."

"Yep."

"Oh, by the way, did you know Lexan before we met?"

"Eum, it's possible."

"Have you?! whereabouts? why didn't you tell me!"

"Why are you so enthusiastic?"

"You ask why? geez, who wouldn't want to meet Lexan in person, it's a rare experience!"

"What you see isn't the truth."

"meaning?"

"Even if you look at him like a cool and charming human being, his true nature doesn't really describe his face."

"Hey, watch your mouth. You just can't judge someone."

Sherine grinning. "Not believe."

"If you or all the girls were eager to be her lover– me, wouldn't do that stupid thing." Continue while holding the steering wheel.

"What did you say?! stupid thing?"

"I think liking someone who is not sure will like you back is free, yes– Lexan Parker for example."

"Yes SEA, you're the weirdo I've met. After all, you're not gonna like someone, are you?"

"As far as you are."

"Oh yeah, I don't want to prolong the debate."

Sherine remembers Elizabeth being tired of talking to her. But this secretary will not give a gap for silence.

Elizabeth looked back at Sherine with a look that seemed to give her some bad news.

"Hey, Sherine."

"What?"

"You don't like Lexan, do you?"

"Why?"

"Congratulations, you'll be completing the mission with him for a long time. Haha."

Sherine replied with a small laugh. "Eli, Eli, who do you think I am? I'm SEA and soon I'll finish this mission and get that famous lawyer to gawk at my results."

"Oh yeah, you'll bet."

"I thought you were a feminine girl who wouldn't do that."

"See, just tell me you're scared."

"Well, within three months the mission was complete."

"If it's not finished?"

"I'll grant your wish, anything."

"I hold your word."

...****************...

The next morning Sherine came back to the law firm's office for her first day of work. Everyone looked at him cynically, confused by the treatment of many people. Don't they know that Sherine is SEA.

Sherine finally gets to Lexan's office. The door was still locked, and both doors were still locked.

"Damn it, it could be that he hasn't come yet." Annoyed annoyed.

Around Lexan's deserted office no one passes by, must ask Sherine who she doesn't know.

Suddenly, someone approached Sherine.

"Morning."

"Morning." Sherine hesitated.

"You're detective Sherine Dawson, yeah."

"Rubber. And you?"

The girl held out her hand. "I'm Deana Francis, the lawyer who will petrify your mission. Hello to you."

"Greetings know too, please cooperate."

"I'm here with the keys, I thought Lexan was late. Ya– actually she's not a typical late person but I know you'll come earlier than her."

Sherine entered the room whose walls and interior are black, in contrast to the dominant Lexan room in white, Sherine's room has a black feel.

Looking around, Sherine saw a hallway in the room. He also entered the hallway. To her great surprise, it turns out that next to her room is Lexan's office. Their room was bounded by black transparent walls and a door opening for Sherine and Lexan to interact easily (meaning no need to leave the room again, but just enter through the door gap).

"My room merges with kamar–"

"Yes, so you're easy to interact with."

"That means, we'll meet every day?!"

"Yes, is that right?"

"Then, why do we have two doors in front if our room is connected?"

"Lexan wants you to go into your own room anyway, that's how Lexan please be understood." Deana said as she let out her little laugh.

"Oh yeah, here's the key."

"Thank you." Sherine flat said.

"By the way, why is this room connected?"

"Let's know, this room's been connected a long time ago."

"That's it."

"I'll get out of this place as soon as I can." Sherine.

"What?"

"Oh, no."

"Well, Sherine, if you need anything you can tell me, or if you have anything to ask, you can ask me. I'm quite reliable even though I'm still an intern."

"The apprentice apparently." Sherine said in her heart.

"May we be good friends, okay?"

Sherine nodded and smiled.

According to Sherine, Deana is very similar to Elizabeth just not chatty, but her easy-to-mix nature makes her reliable. Deana is like a plain child who does her job straightforwardly and always helps others.

"You're a friendly person, why not just be a secretary?"

"really?" Deana blushed. "At first that was what I wanted, but come to think of it I'd prefer something as challenging as an investigation."

"So you're still an intern? but you seem to know a lot of people here."

"Not really, but if you know maybe yes. I don't know, our boss really likes it. Oh yeah, our boss didn't know Lexan was asking detectives for help on his mission."

"Why should he know? Isn't that normal, the police need detective help, right?"

Door creaking. Look at Lexan with his new coat coming up. The man looked at Sherine for a moment.

"When are you guys coming?" He said in a cold tone.

"Sherppa came earlier than you." Deana.

"Oh."

"Go back to your place, Deana."

"Is there anything else I need to do?"

"All right."

Sherine approaches Lexan who is still preparing her files. He looked at her for a long time. He turned his eyes to Mading who was in front of him.

"Ya– at least you're sorry about yesterday's incident."

Lexan. "Why?"

"It seems that the presumption of the women out there is wrong, the man they crave turns out not to be the one responsible."

"That's your fault for doing the wrong disguise and the bad news is that diamonds can't be saved, right?" Lexan said with a mocking smile.

Sherine's stunned. "You know what?"

"I saved the diamond."

"Oh, thank God I don't think the diamond survived."

"You should be upset."

"Why?"

"I saved the diamond and you must have been scorned by everyone in the organization."

"Right, but I'm grateful there's someone else the organization relies on to save the diamond."

Lexan looked at Sherine in disbelief, his intention of upsetting Sherine was grateful. The person who was being stared at was smiling at him. Suddenly Lexan turned his gaze to Mading.

"Well, let's get serious about the mission."

"Have you heard the news?"

Sherine nodded. "Alright, I'll re-explain at once why I asked for your help."

"So, at 12 midnight. There was a murder at the home of a wealthy official, Thomson Hendrick. The culprit was master Robert Khiel his own assistant. Mr. Robert killed Mr. Thomson by stabbing him. I don't know why, but we're not defending the victim."

"Ah, I know– we're defending the suspect right?"

"Yes and that's a bad thing."

"I don't think that's a bad thing." Said Sherine while touching her chin.

"Isn't that what every lawyer will do. The law doesn't look at feathers, it's your motto." Said Sherine who was about to leave the room.

"Hey, where are you going?"

"Are you going to stand there?"

"Don't say–"

"Let's go."

...****************...

"Mr Robert Khiel." Call the prison guard.

"Ah, yes you called me."

"Someone wants to meet you."

"W-who?"

"Get out."

Mr. Robert walked towards the meeting room. Lexan and Sherine were waiting.

Lexan and Sherine shake hands with Mr. Robert.

"I'm Lexan Parker, your lawyer and this is the detective who's gonna help get this case done."

"I'm Sherine Dawson, nice to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you both."

"We are happy to help you Mr. Robert, but before that can tell me about the incident during the murder, sorry if I remind you of the thing that makes you uncomfortable but–"

"It's okay." Said the middle-aged man.

"It was 12pm and a half, I was out looking for a gift for my daughter for her birthday. Suddenly, my phone rings. Mrs Miranda Mr. Thomson's wife called me, she asked me to come that late. When I got there, a housekeeper told me to go straight into Mr. Thomson's study. After that my head was hit from behind, then I had no idea what happened after that. Waking up from that, all of a sudden I've been accused and arrested by the police."

"So you didn't kill Mr Thomson?" Ask Lexan.

"I swear, I didn't do anything, sir. Even I was shocked when I saw Mr. Thomson's bloodied condition."

"Police saw you holding a knife in your right hand, as did the witness." Lexan said.

"Master, I swear. If I had any killing intent I should have realized I had stabbed Mr. Thomson."

"Okay, we'll change the question."

Lexan. "What?!"

"We can't force Mr. Robert to talk about what happened back then." Whisper Sherine.

"Okay, Mr. Robert. You can tell me the genealogy of Mr. Thomson's family and how many employees work there."

"Mr Thomson and Ms. Miranda have no children, but their lives are very glamorous, anyway Ms. Miranda always has branded goods. I don't know why they don't have children, their age is not far from my age. If employee– is nothing but a security guard and a waiter, then I'm Mr. Thomson's assistant."

"How many servants and guards are there in Mr. Thomson's house?" Ask Sherine.

"There were four guards and six servants working in that big enough house."

"That means there are ten workers there plus you're eleven. Ah, that night– how many employees are there in Mr Thomson's house?"

"I don't know for sure, but the waitresses who worked that night were very few. Looks like only three maids, one of whom told me to go straight into Mr. Thomson's room."

"You didn't suspect the waiter when it happened?" Ask Lexan.

"I– yes, a little. I don't know, but he used to take me to Mr. Thomson's office so I didn't suspect anything."

"When did you feel when you woke up from fainting and in front of you there was a lifeless Mr Thomson, then a knife in your right hand?" Ask Lexan.

"I was shocked and in disbelief. At that time I remembered, I was not drunk or unconscious, I was completely conscious and it was not a dream. Please believe me, I have no intention of killing."

"We're not forcing you to confess, sir. But if that's the truth, we'll try to find information that reinforces your reasoning." Sherine.

Lexan pats Sherine on the shoulder and discusses the reason Mr. Thomson gave her.

"Do you believe in the reasons he made?"

"Oh come on, he's your client. Finding the truth is the way out to believe."

"You think looking is easy?"

"You're the lawyer, you're the one who's more persistent on this, right?"

"Just be free, no matter how hard you try, you will lose to the victim."

"Did you give up?"

"B-not–"

"Cih, the assumption of your fans is very wrong. We can investigate together anyway."

"Although in another case trial the suspect will win from the victim, but look at Mr. Robert is just a little paid assistant, if we defend him, if we defend him, surely we'll lose because Mr. Thomson as the victim is a possessed person who I believe everyone will also side with him. So–"

"So, you'll give up that easily. Parker, did you forget why you asked for my help? trust me, we can do this together. Okay?"

"Ee– excuse me ladies and gentlemen." Sela sir Robert.

Lexan and Sherine look back at Mr. Robert.

"It looks like our meeting hours are over, the guards are waiting."

"Oh yeah, well next time we'll come back here to see you."

"But before that, miss. I want to tell you one thing."

"What's that?" Ask Lexan.

"Actually I– left-handed."

Lexan and Sherine are at each other's eyes.
