The Law's

The Law's
Chapter 6

Sherine arrives at Helton city train station, walking past a group of people passing by.

The city of Helton is the closest to the Eastern border. In addition to access roads that do not need to wade through the sea, residents of the city of Helton even hard to believe that they are native to the West.

The population of Helton is arguably fewer than the areas in the West, Westerners believe the population of Helton was already influenced by the East.

And it was Helton, a city that was often a mission for detectives and secret police on duty.

"It's no wonder if there are Eastmen who enter easily, there is no strict guard here" Sherine said as she looked to her left.

Sherine exits the station and sees across the street, a middle-aged woman she knows.

Sherine waved her hand. "Mom Hudson!"

Mrs Hudson approached Sherine and hugged her like her own child.

"For so long as you don't see me, how are you?"

"I'm good, you see" Sherine said with a smile.

Mrs Hudson chuckled. "Right, how's Jeff doing?"

"Yes, the pain has improved a bit but sometimes it can recur."

"Oh, my goodness. That means he's still not working?"

"I don't think he can with his illness at any time that can bother him."

"Yes, you're right Sherine. Ah, want some coffee?"

"Good idea."

"Yes, yes you never turned down my offer" said Mrs Hudson as she rubbed Sherine's head.

Mrs Hudson has taken Sherine and her sister as her own children. They've known each other since Sherine was training at the organization.

It was Mrs Hudson who guided Sherine to become the best detective in the organization.

Mrs Hudson works as a senior detective who still gets a job, although she has to retire but she still carries out her duties before her retirement.

"So–what about your new mission?" Mrs Hudson asked as she sipped her coffee.

"You know?"

"Of course, Jones told me."

"Ah, Mrs Jones is very similar to Elizabeth" Sherine said.

"Indeed, my secretary is no different than Elizabeth."

"Yes, as you know, actually this mission is practically ordinary if my comrades let me think for a moment."

"Oh, it must be Lexan Parker, that famous lawyer right?"

"Mrs Jones explained all those details?"

"I'm just guessing, so–right?"

Sherine nodded.

"Yes, because who else is someone whose work there is no rest during the investigation," said Mrs Hudson.

"How do you know the nature of Parker?" Ask Sherine to know.

"I heard that story from his secretary, Felix Lucas."

"It turns out you know everything."

Mrs Hudson chuckled. "Because I'm a senior detective and lately my job is just sitting in the office, so– I have nothing to do but be an educator. Therefore, I know them all."

Sherine responds to a nod.

"You know, Sherine. Although Lexan's work seems rushed, he is actually a persistent person. Indeed, with a hasty step to make you miss one important thing, but behind all that he does not want to miss one bit. I knew him during training, he couldn't be said to be on time but–too early."

"Oh."

"Being his friend does take a deep breath yes, but you have a trick so that it doesn't look exhausting, one day."

"May I know what case you're solving? yeah, this time Jones didn't tell me." Ask Mrs Hudson.

"The murder at Thomson Hendrick's house" Sherine said in a low tone.

"Thomson?! as far as I'm concerned, he's a wealthy official known to many Westerners" Mrs Hudson said in shock.

"He died at his home, about half-twelfth. He was stabbed in the heart by Robert Khiel. But I'm sure Mr. Robert is accused."

"From Mr. Robert's confession, he was called by Mrs Miranda, Thomson's wife. Arriving there, master Robert's head was struck from behind who did it then when he woke up, he saw Mr. Thomson who was lying lifeless with a knife in the right hand of master Robert. The most astounding thing was, master Robert said that he was left-handed, while the knife was in his right hand." Obviously Sherine.

"I mean how he did it, if Mr. Robert was left-handed would he be able to stab Mr. Thomson with his right hand?" Sherine asked for an opinion.

"Had the murder device been a gun, I would agree Mr. Robert was found not guilty. But–"

"What do you think, with a knife in your right hand, it means that Mr. Robert has been found guilty?"

"Look at Sherine, if Robert's left-handed both could be spelled out an accusation. Suppose the knife or gun in his right hand while he was left-handed, you could say that he was accused. Because if you're left-handed and aim at someone with the right hand, of course the shot will miss even the right heart. Likewise with a knife, it will take a long time to stab the victim with the right hand if your condition is left-handed. I know, you and Lexan must be defending Mr. Robert, that suspect?"

"true."

"Everybody would probably be more defending Thomson because he is known to many as a good and generous person, than Robert who is not known at all."

"But that doesn't mean what everyone sees is true" Mrs Hudson continued.

"You mean?"

"Who do you suspect in this case?" Ask Mrs Hudson.

Sherine paused for a moment, then rolled her eyeballs in another direction.

"All right, I know what you're thinking. Actually–ini secret."

Sherine moved her seat.

"Not here, Sherine," Mrs Hudson took Sherine out of the cafe after paying for their order.

"In a very dangerous situation, there can be people listening to our conversation" Mrs Hudson said as she walked somewhere.

Mrs Hudson takes Sherine to a quiet park, but they keep talking in a low tone so no one can hear.

"What secret do you want to tell?" Ask Sherine.

"Actually–Thomson and his wife are–people of the East."

Sherine was stunned to hear the words of mistress Hudson. "O-Easterners?!"

Mrs Hudson just nodded back. "B-but how? The West strongly rejects any Easterners who enter the West" Sherine said.

"yes too! he should have the Eastern residency card, right?!" Sherine.

"That's right, Sherine! Thomson and his wife were Easterners living in the West, and whatever they planned, they wanted to attract Westerners to think of them as good people, especially in this case. Then, regarding the residence card you must be confused, right why Thomson and his wife can enter the western region?"

Sherine nodded. "Please tell me how it happened?" Ask.

"Thomson and Miranda are family, to change residence cards you're definitely going to the civil office. Surely Thomson paid the civilian to replace Thomson and Miranda's residency cards" Hudson said.

"Then–they both still have the Eastern residency card?"

"Remain, their in and out access will be very easy because it has two residence cards."

"But–how do inter-regional officers respond to Thomson's residence card?"

"Thomson's gonna pay a lot to keep them quiet, Sherine. People are like him it's so easy to make a little person shut up."

Sherine lowered her head. "Oh," he said gloomily.

"Victory is very far away, because those who stand in the way of everything" Sherine said with an excited look.

"Don't despair, son. You're not alone, we're always helping you" Ms. Hudson stroked Sherine's back.

"You know, I actually called you here on no mission business, you know."

Sherine surprise. "If it's not a mission, then what?"

Mrs Hudson smiled. "I called you here because I wanted to help you with your mission."

"Really?!"

Mrs Hudson nodded. "You can ask for my help whenever you want, son."

"Thank you very much, Mrs Hudson."

"Well, you can come back now."

Sherine got up from her seat and hurried to carry out her mission. However, madam Hudson held him back once more.

"Satherine, do you know what to do?" Ask Mrs Hudson.

"Population cards are the key! I have to get it as proof" Sherine said excitedly.

"Good, and beware–East has spies who can stalk you at any time."
