The Last Chance's

The Last Chance's
The forty-four part

Damar continued to look at Anggi's sleeping face next to him. Two hours had passed since he had laid the woman on the bed and arranged a position as comfortable as possible for her.

Recalling Anggi's request before falling asleep earlier, Damar felt heavy to close his eyes altogether. The fatigue is still felt. Only, his drowsiness was like flying out of nowhere.

Suddenly, he felt that maybe all this time he had been outrageous towards the woman. Ignoring all his sweet treatment, and not caring even at all with the effort that Anggi made just to please him.

"You're a fool, what how?! You blame Anggi for all the mess that's going on right now! But you ever think not anyway, if Anggi is the real victim of your animal behavior?!"

Suddenly Damar closed both his eyes remembering what his father had said to him how many days ago.

"Because of you, he almost dropped out of school! Because of you, he couldn't go to college! And because of you, she should be banished from the family that has taken care of and raised her now! You ever think about that, don't you?"

Ah, why did Damar feel devastated when he heard that speech? Shouldn't he just be acting stupid, huh? What has her mother been saying all this time?

"It's all the woman's fault! If only he did not tempt you, surely now you are not tied to him. What cat is not interested in salted fish?"

Come to think of it, Damar so disagree with the insults his mother was against Anggi. In any case, it seems that Damar's father was right, if all that did not escape the fault of Damar himself who dared to do so against Anggi. Didn't you think about it, Anggi never really teased her like what her Mama said? Damar only seeks a defense, by justifying what Mama told Anggi. Childishness and fear of responsibility are still so great in Damar that must keep him sheltered behind his mother's back.

"Let's watch Anggi a little…. You're not kasian, the same child you have in her womb? But you're acting like that, while you were still in your Mama's stomach, we treated you really well?"

Ah…. Again Damar's head felt dizzy. It feels like it wants to break, if it is recalled by all his father's sayings about Anggi. Indeed, come to think of it, pity also yes, the child in the belly of the woman. It is not impossible that Anggi feels depressed every time dealing with his mother Damar. Don't anyone else, Damar himself sometimes feel stressed if his mother has started a lot of behavior by telling him to do this and that's what Damar does not like.

Slowly, Damar looked towards the large belly of Anggi. The stomach is slowly touched. It felt like something was moving there, as soon as Damar's palm touched it. The frown on Anggi's forehead also looks quite deep, which indicates the woman is disturbed by the movement.

Not wanting the woman to wake up, Damar immediately distanced his hand from there and saw Anggi's face slowly starting to return to peace.

"Sleep…. I think today is a hard day for you."

Damar was still sleeping when he heard the noise from outside his room. Although still sleepy, Damar forced his eyes open because he was disturbed by what was happening out there.

With a dragging step, he exited the room and looked towards the dining room that was the source of the commotion this morning.

"Basic fucking women! How many times have I told you not to seek any attention in this house! You are not needed at all, you know! Don't you know the same human language?!"

"Replace!"

"What, anyway?! Papa don't like to defend this bad woman, yeah! He was just pretending to be weak in front of Papa, let Papa sympathize with him! Papa don't be silly, by constantly defending this woman!"

"Shut your mouth, or I'll-"

"What right?! What would you do if you didn't shut up? What's?! What?!"

Damar who did not understand the origin of this commotion could occur, slowly approached towards the kitchen and saw some broken glass had been scattered on the floor.

"Ma, what's going on? How messy?"

"Oh, are you awake?" ranti said, sounding a little high, then walked closer to Damar.

"This is all women do not know shame! Instead of staying still like a stone, even the pretentious enter the kitchen and ruin everything! Basic useless!"

"Huh?"

"People don't try to ruin everything, Ma…. Anggi just want-"

"What do you want? Just looking for attention? Yea?! You think my son would be interested in women as much as you do? That so?"

"Ma, uh,"

"Replace!"

Annoyed by his wife's actions that became more and more, Panji finally dragged the woman's arm to leave the kitchen. There is no softness, he actually pulled the woman's arm along with the increasingly echoing Ranti's curse to Anggi.

"Basic damn carrier! It's ruined my family's life because of you! Why didn't you die, anyway?! Die there, let our lives be much calmer! You fucking pela*ur!"

Anggi's heart feels torn to hear the curse from his in-laws. Already her good intentions were destroyed because Ranti who had just slammed the food she had just cooked, now she had to accept all the scolding of the woman in front of her own husband. How could she not cry? If usually he can bear with all the attitude Ranti received alone, now he feels he has no face anymore if he has to face Damar. Although he knew Damar would not care either, but it felt, as a human, Anggi felt unworthy of being treated this way by them.

Without even looking at Damar, Anggi walked past the man and returned to the room. He did not know that since then Damar just kept looking at him with different eyes.

In the room, Anggi took a towel and went into the bathroom. Followed by Damar's gaze which also directly followed into the room.

"What do you want?" asked the man reflexively, looking at Anggi who was about to close the bathroom door.

"Engh…. I. want to take a bath," said Anggi holding his face to keep his head down, hiding his red face holding back tears.

Then, without waiting for the next question, Anggi immediately closed the bathroom door and locked it from the inside.

Under the shower, Anggi cried. How could his once almost perfect life be such a mess? He who used to be so guarded like a piece of diamond, was treated like a lump of dirt now. His life, which was always filled with affection, looked like a beggar in need of mercy at this time.

It's unfortunate to live Anggi. Just because of a truly stupid word of love, she could act silly like this and throw away all her precious life that once was. If only he could be much smarter about the true attitude of Damar, of course he would still feel the warmth of affection in the midst of his family at this time.

Really bad luck.

"What am I supposed to do now? I'mscared…. Very afraid..," complained Anggi so slowly, more to himself.

Well, that's how Anggi feels right now. Not a gold cage. But like being trapped in a wild tiger cage and also hungry. Surviving it will be difficult. He's gonna stay dead. Either it was eaten by a tiger, or it died in fear. He needs help. Just one person. She needs someone to get her and her baby out of a deadly situation like this.

He really wants to give up.
