The Last Chance's

The Last Chance's
The forty-one part

That night, Arkan, who had been trying hard to finish his work at the office, came to Anggi's apartment as usual. He stepped with a lethargic clatter, until he finally arrived at the door of the female apartment unit.

For a moment, Arkan just fell silent in place while looking at the wooden door. In his heart, he suspected that Anggi was already in there. Yes, although at the parking lot earlier he did not remember to pay attention to Anggi's car, but he was sure that his cousin was already in there, considering it was nine at night.

As someone who always knew the combination number to open the door of Anggi's apartment, Arkan then pressed four buttons there and took a deep breath.

After it opened, he immediately entered and found Anggi standing near the window of his living room while looking at the city streets in a dim atmosphere.

"Lo again save electricity, what? It's dark right" Arkan said, pressing the light switch near the entrance.

When the lights were on, Arkan could see that Anggi was on his back with a bottle of alcohol in his hand.

Oh, my God! Don't tell me she wants to ruin herself again. Absolutely outrageous.

"It's like you're tired of living, huh? Usually damaged body with a drink kayak gini. If you want to die quickly, just drink poison! So, it won't bother people if they get sick,"

Arkan walked over while poking Anggi with his sharp sentence. When he reached the woman, Arkan only realized, if it turns out Anggi was crying while staring out the window.

"Nggi," he called out in shock, seeing tears so rushing out of both Anggi's eyes.

Yeah, God…. Because, what else now? Inner Arkan suddenly dizzy, and made him feel that fainting was much better.

"First, the doctor said, if the child I would be born later was a daughter. I was glad to know that I will have friends when I grow old. But, it turns out…."

Anggi pulled her sobbing for a moment and rubbed the window of her room with trembling hands.

"My son wasn't born until now. He's gone instead. He didn't even let me hear his crying voice the first time he was born. In fact, I really want to, horrified his voice when crying. It must be sweet, huh. But…."

Again, Anggi held back his sentence and made Arkan more dizzy.

Patiently, Arkan embraced Anggi's shoulder and rubbed it several times.

"Gue tau lo sad, Nggi…. No parent will be sad if they lose their child. But the problem is, you can not mourn the departure of your child. He's been calm. God loves him, and does not let him feel the pain of living in this world. So, what you can do now as a mother, keep praying. Especially for yourself," said Arkan advises Anggi, no doubt make Anggi more crying sad to hear it.

Slowly, he leaned his head against the chest of the Arkan field, and spilled all the grief and hurt he felt there.

"If only Brother Damar had believed…. Maybe we will remember today's date together," said Anggi Parau, unknowingly stopping Arkan's hand that was rubbing next to Anggi's arm.

Brother Damar? Think Arkan for a moment, capturing the tone of sadness that is so deep and also the great hope of Anggi's voice.

"If he hadn't gone to me in the past, maybe now I'd cry in his arms and say, if this was the day our daughter left eight years ago,"

Instantly, Arkan's body stiffened with the words that Anggi had just uttered.

And with his face still wet with tears, Anggi straightened his body looking at the silent Arkan.

"Kan," he called out to tremble, with contorted lips holding back the cry.

"today…. The anniversary of my son's departure."

Based on the address given by Prissa, at 11pm Arkan arrived at the apartment where Damar currently lives. It was not an easy thing to deal with the carelessness of the beautiful doctor he had offended this afternoon. After receiving various kinds of scolding typical of a woman who was offended, Prissa finally wanted to give the address where Damar lived for him.

Not long ago, Arkan was standing in front of the elevator room in the basement. He wanted to go up to the 16th floor, where the Damar unit was located. However, not until the elevator he was waiting for opened, a man came and stood next to him as if waiting for the same elevator.

Reflexes turned, Arkan saw the appearance of a tangled face of Damar that was like unconscious with Arkan there.

His clothes were in a mess, and his gaze was so blankly staring at what was in front of him. His hair also looked disheveled, and there was a smell of alcohol from Damar's body that stood not far from him.

"The room is easily depressed. Especially if it is related to Anggi. He often gets out of control and is unaware of what he just did."

Prissa's nagging as Arkan asked Damar's place to live earlier, suddenly sounded to fill up to Arkan. He came to mind, what was the truth that the chatty woman said about Damar? It's not the two brothers' wits to gain Arkan's sympathy to help Damar, is it?

"Our habit of drinking seems to be getting more and more, huh?" arkan sneered at Damar, whom the man immediately turned to.

With a deep frown, Damar noticed the figure of Arkan who was now looking haughtily at him. As if shocked and distrustful with former friends who now come to his place of residence.

"Arikan?" muttered Damar shook his head once, seemingly wanting to dispel the dizzy feeling he had been feeling since.

"Hmph! Just realized you, am I here?" cynical Arkan snorted, while grunting.

Damar seems to be a little misbehaved. He looked left and right, as if he was looking for something that would be the reason Arkan came to that place. He thought, there's no way, right, Arkan came there specifically to see him? Please remind Damar that Arkan looks very unhappy with the presence of Damar in front of him.

"Gue came here because he wanted to meet you," as if tofu with the contents of Damar's head, Arkan revealed his reason for standing in that place.

"Huh? Want to see me?" paro Damar was stupid, looking like a dazed person with a point of his own.

The more it looks upset, Arkan again snorted his breath rough and his temple grimaced.

Yeah, God…. Why did he suddenly regret coming to that place? Shouldn't he go home and soak in warm water before finally docking on a soft bed? Then, why did he have to stand there and face off against this drunk guy like Damar?

Should he go home now?

"Gue came here because he wanted to say something to you. But, I guess you're not ready for what I'm going to talk about right now. So, I'd better go home, 'cause-"

"Wait!" sergeant Damar cut, raising one hand and shaking his head several times.

"Gue's ready. I guess I'm just a little dizzy now. Justjust…."

Damar seemed to release his hand from Arkan's arm which he had held to prevent the man from speaking. He looked like an insane person, banging his head a few times in order to eliminate the sense of dizziness that seemed very unlikely to disappear in an instant.

"Need…. I'm ready to talk…. Undeterred…. Wait…."

Sounding raved, Arkan looked a little incredulous at what he was seeing at the moment. It seems, Damar knows that what Damar wants to talk about now is about Anggi. And he seems to be trying hard to be aware and focused, because he does not want to lose a word that concerns his ex-wife. And that, able to make Arkan a little touched, to avoid heavy breathing signs of surrender.

"Previously…. You know what day it is?" arkan asked quietly, looking at Damar who suddenly stopped his head-pounding hand movement.

A little tense, the man looked to turn his head towards Arkan and looked at the cousin of Anggi with an illegible look.

Some time noiseless and looked at each other in silence, Damar finally opened his voice with the look of his eyes that looked dimmer.

"today…. The day our son left."

Seriate….
