I brought El Barrack to the Kintamani hotel which is around the Tanah Abang terminal. But before entering the hotel room, I first invited El to eat at the restaurant on the first floor of the hotel.
And here I am. Sit opposite El Barrack with a variety of menus served. Hunger made my saliva feel watery and like it was about to come out of the pool. I immediately devoured the food that was in front of me mercilessly.
"Slowly eating, Ca. No one wants to grab it, really," said El gently, wiping the tip of my lips that were stuck with food scraps. "Now, until the straws of gini, boy," he added. Instantly my eyes glared at the word "lead" from his mouth.
"Nake a boy. I'm so good, I'm going in twenty-one years, you know!" my sergeant won't take it.
"Yes, you are my bidadar. The most beautiful angel in the world, is that it?" El raised his eyebrows, while I pursed my lips in annoyance.
"When should I protest first want to call me an angel?" my protest did not accept, even in the heart of flowers.
"Now, now eat first. After all, let the fat spout, big spit, cepet have baby dede," he chanted with a laugh that always managed to hypnotize every soul of the women.
"Keep as much, sak happyu." El laughed at my words. As my mouth was about to open for another protest, my eyes fell upon a little boy standing beside the restaurant door. I stopped all my activities, not forgetting I also put the spoon to the plate again.
"Why?" ask El wonder. El followed my gaze, then touched the back of my hand. "What do you think of him?" tanyakanya.
"Is he starving? Doesn't she have a family?" tanyaku. Slowly, I stood up and moved my feet towards where the boy was standing.
"Hi, Deck?" I crouched down to align my height with her. "Are you hungry?" ask me again, and the boy nodded weakly.
"Wanna eat?" ask me again, and she nodded despite looking doubtful.
"Relax, I'm a good man, really. Coming, yuk!" I stretched out my hand and she greeted with joy. Yeah, I carried her and I took her to my seat. El smiled shadyly looking at me who was holding the girl.
"You sit down here first, I'll order you some food, okay," I said with a big smile, and again he simply replied with a weak nod. I ordered grilled chicken and mustard for him. While waiting for the food to come, I continued to observe the appearance of the poor girl.
"Whose name are you, Dek?" soft ask.
"Nina," he answered softly.
"Okay, Nina. Where is your home? Then, where are your parents?" I asked again, but he just shook his head.
"Six years." oh God ... This little kid has been left abandoned on the streets and has been forced to find his own food? The world is too cruel for a child of Nina's age.
"Where have you lived all this time?" this time, El asked.
"I love to sleep there." he pointed his finger at a small building that read POLICE POST. Like being struck by lightning in broad daylight hearing Nina's story. How could he be strong to live his life without relatives? How does he find food every day? Tears can no longer be weathered, spilled like also felt the pain that Nina had felt all this time.
"If so, Nina will not stay with Brother?" I stared at El unexpectedly. It turned out that his conscience was working so hard. Between surprise, surprise, and unexpected. It is difficult to explain in words.
"But Big Brother isn't a bad guy, is he? You see, I often meet the bad guys nawarin I live with them. But I don't want to," he said. El and I looked at each other. No wonder in a big city like Jakarta there are still many child abduction actions with a mode imingi-mingi various kinds of reasons that are liked by children.
"Do I look like a bad guy?" ask El a little sniffy. Nina shook her head.
"If so, would you like to stay at this sister's house?" ask again. He nodded, and at a glance I saw there was a twinkle of happiness in his eyes.
"Good boy. I'll go to the best school in town. So be my brother and sister to my future wife." El turned his eyes towards me, my cheeks met red because of the shame and great happiness recognized by the future wife by the man I loved so much. But I don't want to be too happy for now. Because I'm afraid there's a deep hole of disappointment ahead.
"His face looks like a bad person who always finds me, you know," said Nina, who managed to break my daydreams. I raise my eyebrows.
"Who?" my question, while bringing my face closer to his. Don't kids always tell the truth?
"Name Risha. He always told me to ask for money with people, but if I get money, I'm not loved."
My eyes and El's were rubbing against each other. A risha? Is he still alive? I caught a flash of anger in El Barrack's eyes, but he tried to hide that anger. I don't know what anger means, but clearly . I still hold grudges in my heart if I remember the bitter events of the past because of it. I tried to master the situation, lucky for a waiter to come with the food I ordered for Nina. Gasily, the boy executed the food so greedily.
Yes ... Sometimes, we have to be tested with painful events. Such as being reviled, insulted, slandered, made fun of, belittled, harassed, and so forth. Newly, we will become 'expensive' people because we made it through that crazy event.
So, for those of you who have just experienced these events. Don't despair, don't saggy love. Shake up your spirit, raise your battle flag! You haven't lost, you just gave up. Keep going and show that you are not weak and not easy to step on! Prove that you are great with your achievements!
Remember that!
Self-esteem is EXPENSIVE! Don't mess with your mouth to gossip or strike back at them. Give it all to the Creator! Fix yourself and bring yourself closer to Him. Then, all will be beautiful in time 😊
