About a few weeks since the departure of Tama, Kalimantan in the thick smoke of forest fires. The whole community has been urged to always wear masks wherever and wherever they are. Ratna is too. As a medical personnel he finally intervened and also tackled the disaster that would not be completed this time. Almost every time siren ambulance or damkar rings deafen the ears. Even the condition in the hospital has also begun to be uncontrolled because many patients come with complaints that almost all come from the respiratory tract.
Ratna was taking a short break after helping hand out medicines and preparing for free checks at one of the refugee camps set up by Brimob Command Headquarters where her husband served. Tired of course, he even almost 24 hours without rest so many patients come not only in the shelter but also in the hospital where he works.
"Assalamualaikum Mas..," replied Ratna as soon as her phone connection with Tama connected.
"Girishalama, Ratna. What else are you deck?" ask Tama.
"Break up, this takes care of the patient again."
"Where are you now?"
"In barracks. The other bhayangkari mothers. The battalion was short of medical personnel so I was asked to help here."
"How do you work?"
"Alhamdulillah I have lightness. No papa Mas, I'm strong" said Ratna.
"Mas will also be strong" Tama said.
"What's the other?"
"Again rest, out of brawl 3 days 2 nights do not stop."
"Mas isn't papa, is it? Is there a wound?"
"There's, Mas kesayat's left arm. But no papa, Mas has been treated the same medical personnel here," Tama said with a smile.
"Sir, you're there be careful huh. Don't take off your mask. After the task here is completed, Mas will soon follow you there. He will help you. Wait for Mas to come home yes, Ratna," said Tama was carried by Ratna although Tama would not be able to see it but Ratna was sure Tama knew.
Not long after that they were forced to disconnect because Ratna was summoned by someone nonchalantly. Ratna just turned off the phone without a good saying goodbye. It turns out that a patient collapsed with shortness of breath and forced Ratna to install an oxygen hose on him.
"Sir, our oxygen supply is running low. I heard there will be help from the headquarters. That's how it is?" ask Ratna to the field coordinator.
"I'm sorry, I don't know exactly how. I haven't heard anything from the boss. At least now saved first use. If for an emergency, if not cultivated not first," he said.
Ratna actually wanted to say rudely, but considering the condition of her surroundings her intention was immediately pared down. There was no benefit to him being angry. It's in the refugee barracks. Ratna realized not only minimal drugs. For tomorrow's meal alone they don't know if there will be any decent food or not. Ratna can only hope that the government will soon intervene and help its suffering people. Or if any one were to gladly extend his hand Ratna would never refuse, whatever form of assistance she may have.
Ratna, who did not want to get dissolved in her own emotions, chose to head to the medical tent and help with health checks. Ratna takes care of her more fussy pediatric patients. Naturally, if they are so, usually they can live safely and comfortably in this house they are forced to evacuate as far as they can in order to survive.
"Beautiful doctor back again..," said a boy.
"Hi how are the kids, you guys healthy?" ask Ratna.
"Doctor, help me." said one child, tugging at his clothes.
"Why?"
"Doctor, my sister is crying all the time. I don't want to eat either" he said.
"Where's your sister?"
Ratna then stepped towards the tent and saw her sister the child was crying on her mother's lap. Ratna examined it, ranging from checking body temperature, heart rate to the condition of her airways.
"It feels crowded huh deck? Patience, yes." said Ratna while stroking the hair of the 1-year-old baby.
"Mom, try the carrying slightly elevated his head. After this I give it down hot but Mother do not wear thick clothes first yes let her body temperature drop immediately" said Ratna.
"Thank you Doctor" said his mother.
"Thank you, beautiful doctor, ma'am" she also thanked Ratna.
Ratna then gave him a heat sink and returned to play with the other children. There was not much she could do, so instead she could comfort these children so that at least they would not feel depressed. Ratna would sometimes invite them to play, draw, sing, or for the rather large children she invited to work together. Sometimes washing dishes together, or cooking.
Putting out a forest fire is not a trivial thing to do. It can take days or even weeks depending on the size and extent of the fire area. Fortunately, handling is fast enough so that the fire does not become protracted. After about 2 weeks the refugees can be repatriated and return to their respective activities.
Ratna is now starting to refocus with her work and studies. Almost 2 months have passed since Tama's departure. Ratna had gotten used to living her days without Tama beside her. They will only meet through video calls a few times a week that can not be long. At most only about 10-15 minutes.
Tonight, Ratna spent the night in the hospital. Ratna did not complain, sometimes the hospital mattress can feel more comfortable than the mattress at home without the presence of her husband. After dinner with Rati in the hospital canteen, Ratna and Rati return to the doctor's room on the 3rd floor.
"Ratna, stop by the minimarket first yuk. Accompany me to buy some necessities," invite Rati.
"May, all of you buy a toothbrush" Ratna said.
The two walked to the minimarket which was located right next to the hospital building, next to the pavilion gate. Ratna went straight to the snack rack looking for a few packs of vanilla oreo then switched to the refrigerator taking 2 bottles of UC1000 lemon flavor. Ratna finished with her shopping after grabbing a pack of wet wipes and then followed Rati who was standing on a sanitary pad rack and looked confused.
"Why? What do you usually wear?" ask Ratna.
"There is, but I'm looking for a small package. This one is a gegedean," Rati said while pointing to an economical size pack.
Ratna is just that. He suddenly remembered something. When was the last time he came to the moon? Ratna immediately grabbed her phone and opened her Google calendar and found the fact that she did not mark the date of yesterday's month at all. Ratna shifted it to a month ago and she also found no sign there.
"Rati, what are you doing?" ratna asked with her eyes still fixed on her phone.
"Nothing, why?"
"Help me?" ask Ratna.
"What help?" Rati is getting curious because Ratna looks shocked.
"USG."
"Oh my God, don't-don't you..," said Rati almost yelled if only Ratna didn't stop her immediately.
"Not necessarily Rati, just because I'm late for the month doesn't mean I'm pregnant. It could be because of something, so help me yes," Ratna said.
"Ok, I'm happy to help."
Rati immediately rushed her shopping event and dragged Ratna to the cashier. The two rushed to the ER and borrowed the USG tool from the examination room. Ratna put herself in the gurney and Rati checked it out immediately. Ratna was already nervous to death when the device touched the surface of her stomach. His body even stiffened and his heartbeat beat even faster. Ratna is still trying to rule out the possibility only so that she is not disappointed if the results are not as expected. But after they both saw something from the monitor screen instead of a smile Ratna actually cried. She still did not expect that this would happen to her and her husband.
