The warm sunlight that morning caressed the six figures that were sound asleep right in front of the cave mouth. The chaos last night was really draining.
Someone scratched his arm still with his eyes closed. Then he resumed his dream. Before long he scratched his upper arm again. This time he woke up, feeling the heat on his arm.
"What's this bully? Red and hot." He immediately sat down, seeing that the place where he fell asleep was muddy ground. Seemed next to him Widuri was still sleeping soundly.
"Wow, it turns out that we actually sleep in the mud" he told himself.
"Alan, are you awake?"
"Yes Dean. It's my arm feeling hot and itchy" Alan got up from sitting and walked towards the shower.
"Maybe bitten by something while sleeping" said Dean who also rose from his seat.
Dean stepped towards the mouth of the cave. He wanted to check the situation inside. Dean came in and climbed the rocks carefully. Not far from the mouth of the cave he stopped because his head was dripped with water. Dean moved out of place to avoid getting wet. The head was raised to check the roof of the cave. It was clear water was dripping from there. But Dean didn't see the crack.
'Maybe it's just a fine crack that makes the water from above seep and eventually fall here, ' Dean thought.
Dean went deeper and deeper, checking where they used to sit for a meal and a chat. The place was filled with thick dust everywhere. Small stones scattered. And more surprising is the existence of a new cave wall near the collection of sheep that are lying. Dean came over to check on the animals, whether any survived or not.
"Dean, what's this hole?" alan asked while pointing at the cave wall which was now a large hollow.
It was grayish-white, in contrast to the large cave walls they had previously occupied that were black or pitch-gray.
"don't know. Just check it out later. Now help check this flock first" Dean said.
"Okay," said Alan, quickly helping Dean inspect the sheep one by one.
"It looks like Dean's life, but their breathing is weak" Alan reported.
"Yes, they breathe dust until morning." Dean looked sadly.
"We take it out first, let's get some fresh air." Alan gave me an idea.
Dean nodded in agreement. The two lifted the sheep one by one out and laid them on the wet ground. Their activities awakened others. They helped each other care for and move all the sheep. But they did not find 2 rabbits in the cave.
"This one is hurt pretty badly. How's it?" sunil asked while pointing at a sheep whose head and stomach were bleeding quite a lot and looked very weak.
"Sep away from the others, then cut. Skin the fur and cut the meat for our groceries." Breakup Dean.
Sunil and Alan took the animal out. They brought a stone knife to cut him.
Dean was finally able to start focusing his attention on the newly formed cave pit last night. Large and high enough, enough to make people who enter freely and can stand upright. But what makes Dean very curious is, the new cave wall does not look newly formed due to the vibration of the cave last night.
"Isn't this cave passage strange?" Widuri suddenly asked behind him.
"God! Can you not suddenly appear and talk behind my back? Just be surprised." Dean looked at Widuri sharply.
"You're so cool, you don't hear my footsteps" Widuri won't take the blame.
"Huh. whatever." Dean ignored him and raised his leg to enter the passageway of the cave.
"Eittts later. Don't play in. If it turns out to be a portal door, how about it?" Widuri held the neck of Dean's shirt which made her body pulled back.
"Ouch. You're suffocating me!" Dean's starting to fuss.
Widuri looked at him with an unhappy look. But Widuri's just cute.
"Back to the topic, don't you think this cave passage is weird?" Widuri repeated the question.
"Explain what's weird?" Dean was patient and wanted to hear Widuri's opinion.
According to Dean, the stone cave passage was strange, as the walls of the passage seemed to be formed deliberately and had been there before. Straight height almost 2 meters with curved roof.
The strange thing is one thing. The stone slide that occurred only existed in the outer area and hit the sheep. While the cave hallway was clean of stone and covered with dust. It was as if the stones were being pushed from within the passageway towards the cave they were occupying. 'Are these stones the fragments of the cave doors?' thought Dean observing.
Dean did not focus on hearing Widuri's description because he was busy observing and thinking.
"Dean, won't I say it?" tanya Widuri urged.
Dean looked over and just nodded. Although his views and Widuri are different, but it is not a matter to be debated. He tried to touch the cave wall to make sure that it was not a portal door or anything. Dean could see his hand and feel the texture of the cave passage wall.
"Hmm, this wall feels cold and like it's shaped or cut with tools" Dean said. His forehead shriveled.
"Cut? Meaning intentionally made? It means there are other people dong in this place," asked Widuri enthusiastically.
"But, may this passageway belong to a creature that screamed spookily last night?" Suddenly, Widuri's face paled and began to panic.
Dean listened and considered the possibility.
"It looks like it was made intentionally. But I don't know if anyone else lives here" replied Dean.
"Dean did the creature deliberately scream to smash the door of this cave? Does he want to get out? Or was he out when we fell asleep?" Widuri fear.
Dean wanted to check in, but he thought about Widuri's words for a moment..
"Then we don't go in, wait a minute."
Dean turned around and stepped out of the cave. Widuri immediately followed him quickly. He does not want to be left alone with a creature whose voice is terrible.
"Hiiyyy," Widuri goosebumps imagining it.
"How are they doing?" Dean asked Dewi and Nastiti who were tending to the sheep on the edge of the forest in front of the cave.
"These two tails are still lying weakly. Even the grass is not covered. Others do not seem to be too affected, udh on being able to stand and eat alone tuh," pointed the Goddess at the flock who was eating leaves not far from it.
"Among us no one knows about medical, what else animal diseases. If you still don't want to eat until noon, it's better to cut for our supplies" Dean said.
Dewi and Nastiti looked at each other and nodded. Alan and Sunil came to bring clean lamb skinned.
"We can only clean up like this. We need a very sharp knife to cut the bone if we want to split it," Sunil explained when he saw Nastiti's strange gaze.
"Can his flesh be sliced first? Maybe some of us can smoke to make it last" Dean suggested.
"Alright," replied Sunil.
"Make it up with us to slice it. We made breakfast. Please prepare the fireplace." Nastiti takes over the task.
"Alan, accompany me to the garden to pick up vegetables and lemons. Our supplies are stoned in the cave." Widuri pulls Alan through the forest into a fruit and vegetable garden.
Dean came back from the water shower carrying a few wide leaves to serve as a container and handed them to the Goddess who was busy slicing lamb meat. Sunil has made a new fireplace outside.
"Sunil, come with me. This business I'm handing over to you guys" Dean said, walking away from Dewi and Nastiti.
"No! Don'tgo. We are afraid of ourselves here," said Dewi and Nastiti who immediately stopped their activities.
Dean's forehead shriveled a little.
"What if Sunil is left behind, and one of you comes with me?" ask Dean.
"I'm coming with you" said Nastiti quickly. The goddess was stunned because she lost agile.
"Come on," Dean immediately stepped away followed by Nastiti.
"Don't complain about following me. We have to collect the materials and make the shelter." Dean went into the woods.
Dean's words instantly made Nastiti's shoulders feel heavy, her head lowered and closed her eyes while faintly dodging. 'Dangerous. Heavy work, he thought. But it's too late to regret.
