SURVIVORS

SURVIVORS
311 Chapter. Saving the Baby

At night, Dean, Robert, Alan and Sunil return to the nearby island. And it seems like no one has come to check. The island is still emitting smoke here and there. Houses and other buildings have been destroyed.

The four comrades flew low to check even more closely. There really is nothing left. After convincing it, they combed the beach. The ships that were yesterday burned, some of them stayed skeletons that floated in the water.

The four worked hard to lift the shipwrecks and fish carcasses that filled the beach. All collected at one point. Then it was burned again with the blue fire of Sunil. In an instant, everything turned to dust.

"The work here is done. Want to go home or what?" ask Alan.

"How about we see the other islands first?" Dean asked his friends for their opinions.

"In the dark like this, how to find an island?" ask Robert.

"We'll just find it. No need to theorize."

Dean's been darting high. With her golden eyes she tried to look into the surrounding sea.

"There!" point at.

The four of them shot back quickly towards the point Dean was referring to. The island is bigger. But the losses are obviously bigger as well. No building survived. All burned up.

They surround the island. Some charred bodies were found on the beach. Dean searched the empty area to bury them.

"Dean, did you hear that?" ask Alan.

"Sound what?" ask Dean again. But he sharpened his ears.

"Baby crying!" dean and Alan said in unison.

The two searched for the origin of the sound of the baby's cry that broke the silence of the night.

"Here, Dean!" call Alan.

Dean's approaching.

"That!"

Alan pointed at something black charred clinging to a cliff, by the beach. The sound of the baby's hoarse cries came from behind the black figure.

Dean made a hole in the side. Trying to get that black thing out. It takes a little extra careful effort so that Dean's movements don't hurt the baby inside.

And what they saw was shocking. Shake heart. There was a mother who hid her child in the basin of land. Then cover the hollow with his back, to protect the baby.

Alan's tears are dripping. She grabbed the baby who kept crying.

"Cup .. dear. Pt. Good boy, smart, you should be grateful to have a mother who loves you so much" whispered Alan withstanding a cry.

"Hey, we heard—"

Robert's words were cut off.

He and Sunil arrived at that place. They saw Dean stunned sadly at one body lying stiff in the sand. The body was curved with outstretched hands, like hugging something. Then there was Alan crying while coaxing a baby in his arms.

"Is this what I thought it was?" whispered to Robert.

Robert agreed. "A mother who sacrificed herself to protect her baby."

"We should bury his mother with the others" Sunil said, patting Dean on the shoulder.

"Don't be sad. We have to be grateful that there are still survivors from this island" Robert said.

Alan nodded. The baby calmed down a little after sucking on Alan's finger and holding it tight.

"We're taking him back to the island. Jafi6 let's get the job done here quickly" said Robert.

Dean carried the woman's body flying towards the hole he had dug. He laid the body well.

"There's more?" ask Dean.

"nothing. We've combed the beach twice" Sunil replied.

"Well, we're closing their graves now." Dean raised the ground and hoarded the 7 bodies they found tonight.

Robert and Sunil search for a large chunk of stone, to be a tomb holder.

"May you calm down there. We'll take good care of this baby." Dean whispered softly.

Kudia she darted up to inspect the entire area. Everything is clean. Neither the carcass of the fish, nor the wreck of the ship, has vanished into dust.

"It's late. We have to go back," Dean said.

"Yes, this baby is starving" Alan said.

That night, Leon's residence became a scene. The crying of the baby echoed throughout the room. Leon and Jane are willing to take care of him. Jane even immediately cooked rice according to the teaching of Widuri.

The baby calmed down after being fed the water.

"Tomorrow, the rice that was, added a fine chop of vegetables. Cook until soft and become a diluted porridge. We can try to bribe him with that," said Widuri.

"Let's take a break. Save your energy for tomorrow" advises Dr. Chandra.

All agreed and started lying on the floor in the living room. Various things raged in their minds. What is the situation in Jakarta now? Can they get through the heat yesterday safely? What about other countries?

A quiet second morning without birds.

Doctor Chandra sat on the side porch, facing the chicken coop. Indra brought two cups of flower tea and sat down next to Dr. Chandra. The breakfast was not finished, so they enjoyed the hot tea first.

"Good we can still hear Cigarettes and Cote chickens here. If not, how lonely is this world." murmured Indra.

Doctor Chandra nodded.

"Well .. we only realized the meaning of the existence of something, after he left ...."

Indra was silent to hear it. That word has a very deep meaning.

"What's Dean's plan today?" ask doctor Chandra.

Indra shakes. He did not participate in the discussion, realizing his own strength was not enough. So Indra prefers to help other work at home.

"Where are they?" ask doctor Chandra.

It's there." Indra pointed towards the front page.

Doctor Chandra sipped the tea to the end. "Thank you for the tea. I'm going there first."

Indra nodded in understanding. He saw Dr. Chandra stepping quickly in the direction he pointed.

"What the hell is going on? Does Dr Chandra want to go there too? Wellh .. No matter how he's still a doctor." Indra was deep in thought.

"You're here, apparently," said Dr. Chandra.

"Yes Doc. We're discussing renca—"

Chandra's doctor reached for his hand to tell Robert to shut up.

"If you guys want to go check out another island again, I'm coming!" doctor Chandra.

"But Doc, we don't want to make things difficult for you" Dean said.

"I can fly too. Did you forget who I am?" doctor Chandra's eyes glittered as clear as diamonds.

"Ruler, your power has been shared with us. What you have now, just a little. We just want to keep ...."

"You're afraid I'm dying of exhaustion?" doctor Chandra smiled.

"All of you, gather here. I'll take back the power I lent you back then" doctor Chandra ordered.

"Okay, Ruler," replied Robert quickly.

"Ma, you'll be here soon. Ruler called you!" call Robert to Leon.

It didn't take long, the six people had gathered. Five people sat in rows facing Dr. Chandra. They are concentrating.

Indra watched the activity from the side page. He looks around. I hope no one knows what happened in that place. But then he was surprised. Then rush down the stone stairs leading to the bottom. He saw Sulaiman was heading towards that place.

"Sulaiman," he said as soon as he got in front of the man.

"I need your help" Indra said quickly. His hand was drawn by Sulaiman to return.

"But I'm gonna deliver this. Yesterday's harvest was huge. You guys must need it. I want to thank Sunil" Sulaiman declined.

"They've been gone since. And this, let me take it home, after that, you help me there," Indra said.

With deftly taken the vegetable basket from the hands of Sulaiman. He immediately ran upstairs, delivering the gifting vegetables. Then return immediately. Justright. Sulaiman went up.

"Come on!" take Indra immediately.

Three more steps, then the activity in the courtyard will be seen.

"A rush?" ask Sulaiman.

"Yes. Otherwise, my ears could be fretted," Indra showed a pitiful mimic. His lips curled down.

"You don't look pathetic" Sulaiman argued. "Your face is funny" he added laughing.

"Hah .. You don't know how cruel women are if their desires are not fulfilled" Indra complained.

They walked down the hill chatting. Occasionally the laughter of the two sounded upwards.
