Possessive Companions

Possessive Companions
Chapter 95

Five minutes passed after Darren and Doni left. Asya and Carla just kept quiet. None of the two started the conversation.

Asya looked at Carla and took her breath. It was very awkward to talk to someone who had been close to her husband. But, if no one started, then they would continue to be silent like this.

"eeee... We haven't met since." Asya said, starting the conversation. What he said is true. They have not yet known. Darren didn't introduce them either.

"Yes. I'm Carla." The girl thrust her hand at Asya, and was greeted by Asya.

"I'm Asya." Asya returned Carla's hand.

The two fell silent for a moment, then Carla started the conversation again.

"I've seen Miss..."

"Don't call me miss. Just call Asya."

Carla nodded and smiled. "I've seen you with Darren. But, I don't know if you're Darren's girlfriend."

Asya was eager to refute Carla's words, if at that time, she and Darren were only friends. But, she undoes her intentions and chooses to hear everything Carla says.

"Darren, he helped my brother and sister-in-law when they were in an accident. At that time, my sister-in-law was pregnant. Their lives are not helped. But their baby survived. Since their marriage was not blessed, and they ran away, it took quite a while for Darren to find out their identity. Darren decided to take care of the boy. He took care of Doni even though he was busy."

"At that time, I knew nothing. I was abroad. I knew when Darren found out Doni's parents' information, and told Mama and Papa. I decided to go back and take care of Doni. Doni's pretty familiar with me. But, if told to choose between me and Darren, he'll always choose Darren."

"I admit, I have feelings for Darren. But, her coldness is so hard for me to ignore. He doesn't even think of me. Just saying my name, never. Even though Doni calls him Papa, he never considers himself Papa to Doni. To him, he was just Doni's family. He would only consider himself a father if he had a child from the woman he loved."

Carla took a breath and held Asya's hand. "Yes, I'm sorry I made you misunderstand. Maybe your relationship almost broke down because of me. But, really. I didn't mean to ruin your relationship. I thought, a cold guy like Darren doesn't have a lover. I'm sorry."

Asya looked into Carla's eyes. He could see the sincerity of Carla's every word. The woman held Carla's hand back.

"You don't have to apologize. Back then, I was too fixated on my own assumptions. I never asked or asked Darren for an explanation. I should be thanking you too. Because of that problem, Darren and I are open to each other about their feelings."

"You mean?"

"During our first meeting at Darren's company, I was just Darren's best friend from childhood, nothing more. But, the many misunderstandings, made Darren express his feelings. Until we end up with a marriage bond. Thank you, for being present and making us aware of our feelings." Say it with a sincere smile. Carla also responded with a smile.

"Oh yeah, Carla. When are you back?"

"It's still a week away."

"Goodoo. Sometimes, you go with Doni to the house. I'd like to introduce you to Father and Mother-in-law. Darren has one younger sister and one more boy, Darren's twin."

"Huh? Darren has a twin?"

"Yes. Name's Darrel. Their faces are the same. But their nature is different. Darrel's very jaily and talks a lot."

"Waaahh... Do you know him well?"

"of course. Me, Darren, Darrel, Aurel and Jiyo are best friends."

"Waaahh... So exclaiming. Then, introduce me to them sometime. Who knows, if it's not Darren, I can get his twin, Darrel."

"Ouch... You're overdue. Darrel is married."

"Married?"

"Yes. Even now his wife is pregnant. Aurel is pregnant and only a month away from giving birth."

"Well, what a pity. But, you said Aurel? Aurel's Darrel's wife?" Asya nodded. "Aurel is your best friend you mentioned earlier?"

"Yes. Aurel's my best friend, Darrel's best friend."

"Yes God. Turns out you married your own best friend. Huuhh, true also said the person. Friendship between men and women involves feelings. Be it one-sided or two parties at once." Carla.

Asya just smiled hearing that. Carla doesn't talk that wrong.

"But I am still heartbroken. In the past, losing after fighting. Now lose before you fight." Carla said, dramatically. It made Asya chuckle at hearing it. The two women continued their conversation. Carla told me about Doni's condition before the boy had surgery.

After playing enough, Doni rested with Darren. The two sat down while enjoying the drink Darren bought.

"Papa, can I ask you something?" Doni looked at Darren's face.

"Ask me."

The boy lowered his head before looking back at Darren. "I always call Papa Papa Papa. But, I've never heard Papa call himself Papa, Papa. Papa just called me, me, while talking to me. Why, Pa?"

Darren was silent for a moment while looking at Doni's face. "Listen, Doni. Maybe I'd go too far to talk to a little boy like you. But, you should know. Being a father is not easy. I can't easily think of anyone else's child as my own. I want my son to first accept my recognition as his father. Regardless, you are still my family. And forever will be my family." Darren said, patting Doni's head slowly.

The boy smiled with teary eyes looking at Darren. "sorry. I understand what Papa means." His word. Darren's heart was filled to see the boy's teary eyes.

"Am I not allowed to call Papa Darren Papa from now on?"

"Ask my wife."

"Wife?" Darren nodded. "I've heard Grandpa call wife. But, I don't know what it is?"

"You don't need to know much about your wife. When you grow up, you will understand it for yourself. The point is, right now I have to ask for his opinion. Not just this time. But, next I must always negotiate with him."

Doni nodded at Darren's words. "Was the woman who came earlier, called the wife?"

"Yes." Yeah." Darren looked at his shaking phone. A message from Asya told him to return. "Have you played enough?" Doni nods.

"Come, go. They're done talking."

Darren and Doni are back soon. Once there, they see Asya and Carla talking without feeling awkward anymore.

Darren and Doni rejoin the two women. Asya looked at Doni and smiled at the boy.

"Hallo, Doni." Sapa Asya first.

"Ha-Hallo,"

"Sweet child." Said Asya, gently scrambling Doni's hair.

"Oh yes, Darren. Me and Doni should leave immediately. There's something I need to take care of." Carla.

"You go! Doni's gonna be with us."

"What's not a hassle?"

"Not at all." Answer Asya, quickly. "I'm glad Doni is with us. After your business is done, call us. We'll take him back." Asya.

Carla smiled hearing that. He's not worried about anything. He was sure, Doni would be safer with the couple.

"alright. I'm picking up Doni." Carla. He approached Doni and kissed the boy's forehead. "Mama Carla go first. Doni's with Uncle Darren and Aunt Asya, huh?" Doni nods. Now he understood, why his Mama Carla had always referred to Darren as an Uncle in front of him. And yes, Uncle's call is better for him.

After Carla left, the atmosphere became silent. Doni just kept quiet while occasionally stealing glances at Asya, then at Darren. He hoped that Darren would immediately ask Asya about what he said earlier.

"Oh yes, Doni. Do you want to eat something?"

"No aunt." Her speech. He looked at Darren. "Uncle..."

"Eh, why call him Uncle? Don't you call him Papa?" Asya asked confusedly.

"Aunty, can I call you Papa?"

"Can. Who forbid you to call him Papa?"

Doni was speechless with eyes that glanced at Darren. Seeing him, Asya looked at Darren.

"Honey, you're the one who banned Doni from calling you Papa?"

"I didn't mean to ban it. I'd like to ask your consent first."

"Then I agree Doni calls you Papa." Asya Say. "Doni dear, from now on you should call Papa Darren, Papa. And aunt, Mama. Okay?"

Doni's bowed face immediately looked up at Asya. And Darren too. He looked at his wife.

"Ta-aunty seriously?"

"Yes. From now on, aunt is Mama Doni. Doni now has a complete parent. Mom's with Papa."

The boy woke up and immediately hugged Asya. "Thank you, aunt."

"Doniii... Mama! Not aunty."

"Thank you, Ma."

"Together, baby." Say Asya, hug Doni back.

Darren could only stare at Doni and Asya. He could see the sincerity and affection in Asya's eyes. Until he thought, he was pretty outrageous to a kid like Doni. A child who needs parental affection, yet he indirectly destroys it.
