Possessive Companions

Possessive Companions
Chapter 27

Darrel stepped quickly towards the reception desk. When he found the receptionist employee smiling flirtatiously at him, Darrel immediately put on his flat face.

Quite yesterday he was attacked by the media and many women at the race venue. Although Mr. Kariman had asked the guards to hold back the crowd of women, they still insisted on approaching Darrel. But, Darrel was grateful, because he was able to escape the crowd and they were willing to listen to the instructions of the head of the bodyguard not to photograph it and publish it.

"Good morning, sir. Can I help you?"

"Yes." Yeah." Reply Darrel, flat.

Oh, my God, he's so handsome. Inner of the employee.

"I'd like to meet the manager of this hotel."

"Have you..." The employee's words were cut short when Darrel offered his business card. A business card with the Grisam Group logo. The eyes of the employee were immediately opened. And his friend who was standing next to him.

"I'll tell the manager." The woman standing next to him picked up the phone and before long, the call was connected. After almost 3 minutes of talking, he put the phone back in its place.

"Ma-mari, sir, I'll take you to the manager's office."

"Yes." Yeah."

Darrel grabbed his business card and followed the employee. Before entering the manager's room, Darrel glanced at the employee.

"I hope you keep what you know a secret."

"Good, sir." The woman lowered her head. After Darrel entered, he rushed back to his place.

Fifteen minutes into the manager's room, Darrel came out. He immediately returned to his room. His stuff is already done. But, he delayed his flight until the afternoon after coming up with an idea to keep Aurel close to him.

Darrel laid down his body in bed after calling the hotel service to bring him food.

He closed his eyes for a moment before suddenly, the door of his room was knocked. Darrel excitedly got up and opened the door. A sweet smile etched on her lips saw a person standing in front of her, carrying food and her head bowed.

"Aurel,"

"This is your order, sir." The girl handed over the food she brought to Darrel.

Darrel grabs the food, and suddenly pulls Aurel in. Aurel looked at him with a surprised look that was so real. Darrel didn't care and locked the door to his room.

"What are you doing?" Aurel protest sentence in Darrel. He pulled the girl back in his arms. He held the girl very tight.

"I miss you, Aurel." His words are so soft.

Aurel's body froze. His hand did not move in the least to return Darrel's embrace. His eyes began to water. He misses Darrell too. He also wanted to hug her. This was what he had expected when he returned to meet Darrel and the others. But, his body felt very stiff, he could not move.

"What happened to you? Why did you just disappear without telling me? Tell Jiyo or Asya. Are you having trouble? Say something, Aurel."

The girl is still silent. Her tears just slipped away soaking her cheeks. He bit his lips so that his prank would not be heard by Darrel.

"Aurel,"

"I'm sorry."

Collapse is Aurel's defense. He hugged Darrel back with tears flowing. He had left his friends for so long. Just leave without giving an explanation. He thought they would hate him. But, he instead got a great longing from them.

"Hiks... I'm sorry, Darrel."

"Why are you apologizing? You don't have anything wrong."

"I'm..."

Darrel pushed Aurel's body slowly and wiped away his tears. The girl's speech stopped.

"Stop crying. You're not wrong. There's gotta be a reason you left without telling us."

Aurel's tears came back to hear Darrel's soft and understanding speech. Darrel understood her and was always gentle with her long ago. Except when he almost harmed Asya. He was so cold then. It was the first and last time Darrel was cold to her.

"Why are you crying again?" Darrel pulled him back in his arms. "Easy-after. Come on, let's sit down."

Darrel breaks his embrace and leads Aurel to the sofa. He wiped the girl's tears.

Aurel nodded. "Yes." Yeah." The answer.

"Thank God." Darrel said, relieved. "Oh yeah, why are you working here? Doesn't your father have a company?"

Aurel turned her face away from Darrel and lowered her head. "Pater's company doesn't exist."

Darrel was slightly surprised by Aurel's words. He grabbed Aurel's face until they looked at each other. Darrel's eyes stared right at Aurel's bead. His face turned serious.

"Does that have anything to do with your unprovoked departure?"

"Y-yes." Aurel answered nervously. After all, Darrel's face was quite close. Makes his heart beat fast.

"Can I hear everything?"

Aurel nodded back. He squeezed his hand, relieving his nervousness before starting his story.

"I-i... At that time, after graduation, my mother and I went straight away after getting a call. There was a commotion at Papa's company. Uncle suddenly came and showed the company ownership documents. All assets belong to Papa including the house, all belong to Uncle. I don't know how, I don't know either."

"After the trouble, Mama, Papa and I moved into Grandpa's house in the village. Papa fell ill after a week in the village. Mama's suddenly gone after us." Aurel lowered her head even more, hiding her tears that were back in her arms.

"Mama's departure adds to Papa's wound. Papa's health has been declining ever since. Long enough Papa fought his pain, Papa died." Aurel wiped away her tears quickly.

"I'm looking for Mama. I found it." Aurel's speechless.

I thought I could bring Mama back. Turns out I was wrong. I'm stuck in my new life. Life that makes my life more messy. Inner Aurel.

Darrel frowned seeing Aurel quiet for quite a while. He rubbed Aurel's back. He still wants to hear the continuation.

"Then?" Ask Darrel.

Aurel wiped his tears and looked at Darrel for a moment, before he lowered his head again.

"I didn't find Mama long ago, Mama also went after Papa. Mama died." Aurel took a deep breath when she missed one poignant story of her life. He continued his story as if there were no more lies to hide.

"I decided to go back to the village. One of my friends in the village brought me here. He's a longtime worker at this hotel. I came home to visit his mother. He said there's a job opening here. And I'm finally here with his help."

Darrel took his breath. His best friend's life has been so difficult all this time. But, he remembered the few people he had told to look for Aurel. They found nothing, not even about the transfer of ownership of Papa Aurel's company.

Something's not right. Could it be that they didn't really investigate it because I ordered them, didn't Dad? Inner Darrel.

Darrel looked at Aurel. "Aurel," Call him.

The girl looked. "What's wrong?"

"Why did you enter the painting race? Since when are you good at painting?"

"I've loved painting since I was a kid. I entered the race because I wanted to get the prize."

"For your living expenses?"

Aurel shakes. "Someone needs that money more."

Darrel just nodded. He didn't want to ask more. Although he was eager to find out, he held her back. He was sure, he would know someday.

"Aurel, come with me?"

"No, Darrel. I'm comfortable here. I'm comfortable with my job."

"Aren't you going to meet Asya and Jiyo?"

Aurel's speechless. "I have to go, Darrel. I have work to finish." Killah Aurel. He got off the couch and walked to the door. However, his steps came to a halt as Darrel's voice sounded.

"I'll be back this afternoon. If you change your mind, come here. I'm not going anywhere."

Aurel didn't answer. He continued his steps and left Darrel's room.

No matter how hard you want to stay here, I will still take you back with me. Inner Darrel.
