"Ah, yes. You must be busy there. It doesn't matter as long as we're still in touch via video call as we are today. That's enough to treat my longing for you two. Besides, I don't want my daughter-in-law to be too tired to have to travel back and forth between Renhill and Tavisha." Vincent said with a smiley face.
"Alvero, don't let you make my daughter-in-law work too hard as your empress and your personal assistant. Especially since I've been with Ernest you have a lot of new projects. Can't you find another assistant to help you? I've been so impatient to hear the good news about my future granddaughter." Vincent's words successfully made Deanda slightly lower her head with a reddened face.
Alvero who had glanced at his wife who looked embarrassed because of Vincent's temptation immediately smiled amusedly.
"Can't Pa. If it wasn't my wife who was my assistant, I was afraid she would have too much loose time and not be with me. Maybe he was busy practicing martial arts without remembering any more time. Moreover, after he became my assistant, I only found out that he was the best assistant I ever had. Where would I be willing to let go." Vincent immediately laughed amusedly at the reason of Alvero to keep Deanda as his personal assistant.
Ah, how can you hide so much of your love for Deanda, while your eyes always look unwilling when turning away from her figure. Larena, if you were alive, you would be happy to see your son grow up well, become a great king, even surpassing the prowess of his predecessors. And also find a beautiful and kind woman like you as her companion.
Vincent said in his heart while stopping his laughter, replacing it with a happy smile to see how Alvero and Deanda always looked compact and showed that they loved each other so much.
"Pa, there's actually something we want to talk to Papa about tonight." Alvero said as he glanced at Deanda at a glance.
"Tell me. Why should you hesitate to talk to me?" Vincent said as he leaned his back against the bed rest, looked for a comfortable position for him to sit in and began a serious conversation with Alvero.
"Pa, what we're going to talk about with Papa is probably going to be uncomfortable for Papa and it's going to open up Papa's old wounds too." Hearing Alvero's words, Vincent paused for a moment as he cleared his throat.
If Alvero had said that, Vincent could have guessed that what Alvero and Deanda were going to talk about must have something to do with Eliana or Larena. A thing that for Vincent to date still makes his emotions stirred when talking about it.
"Tell me son. Nor can I, in my entire life, continue to run away from conversations that make me uncomfortable. I have to face it." Vincent said while taking a deep breath.
Alvero took a deep breath looking at the tense face of his papa, as if preparing for a question from a prosecutor. At a glance Alvero again glanced at Deanda who slightly nodded her head, making Alvero's heart more steady to start it.
"Pa, when Mama Larena left the palace at that time, did Papa get to hear rumors that she was pregnant?" Alvero's question sent Vincent into shock, showing clearly that Vincent had no idea about the rumours.
"Who said something like that to you, son? Where is the rumor? Who spreads such rumors? Where and when did you hear the news?" Various questions were immediately uttered by Vincent's lips whose face turned into a confused face as well as getting tense.
Alvero said inwardly and deliberately kept quiet for Vincent to be calmer, before he answered the question.
"When I was a child, I did hear that rumor from some waitress who liked to whisper. Ever since my mother left the palace, often the servants looked at me with pity and gossiped to each other about my condition and Larena's. Usually Madame Rose would scold them straight away and tell me not to bother with such nonsense." Hearing Alvero's explanation, Vincent took a deep breath.
Even Larena's departure from the palace that day still leaves such deep regret. Vincent could not imagine how much regret he would have had, if it were true that Larena had gone pregnant with the fruit of their love and had to die in such a miserable way, burned until his body is unrecognizable, while his betrayal of Larena still leaves Vincent unable to forgive himself.
"Well..." Vincent let out a bellow with a tone that sounded so desperate.
Until now, the shadow of the figure Larena so loved it always makes Vincent difficult not to feel pain in his chest because so missed the woman he loved so much.
Seeing how dejected Vincent looks, Alvero intends to stop their conversation about Larena. However, on the one hand, Alvero did not want to delay too long to reveal the truth.
For Alvero however painful it may be about the truth, it must still be well expressed and resolved. Opening up the truth about Larena was not painless for Alvero who from the beginning felt abandoned and banished by Larena who chose to leave the palace without taking her as well as back then.
Had Larena taken him away while leaving the palace, at least during her childhood Alvero would not have felt Eliana's cruelty. But as soon as Alvero looked towards Deanda, all that sense of regret suddenly disappeared. Because if he went with Larena that day, maybe he never met the little girl who had saved him from the kidnappers.
And it's possible that, up to this point, Alvero wasn't married to Deanda. Imagining it all, makes Alvero try to convince himself, that there is no need for regret, because with the existence of Deanda by his side as his empress, is the most valuable and happy thing for him. And Deanda's existence was enough to wipe out every regret and pain she had ever experienced.
"Pa, I don't know if it's just a rumor or a fact. It's just that, some time ago, I met a young girl, who was wearing a pendant that, to my knowledge, the pendant was once worn by Larena's mama." This time Vincent's surprise hearing Alvero's words made Vincent immediately jerk and keep his body from the back of his bed with a frown.
