A month has passed. Darren was done with his final exam. It's time for him to relax while he waits for his test scores to come out. Darren stepped cheerfully out of the school gate. He had not ridden his bike for a long time. His father required him to ride the angkot to get to the destination faster.
"I'm going to the minimarket, ah. Mumpung is not noon yet. But I haven't seen Annisa today. Hhh, what a pangolin it felt like," Darren flipped his body gazing towards the garden where the girl he missed was always sitting there waiting for an invitation.
Darren walked a few steps to wait for the angkot to pass by. Five minutes, the angkot's coming, Darren hastily ascended. Not until half an hour, angkot arrived in front of the minimarket. Darren came down after paying the fare.
Darren knocked on the door of the warehouse that was slightly open.
"Who?" the truth from within.
"Assalammu'alaikum, Mr. Rudi," said Darren.
"Wa'alaikumsalam's chat. Coming in!" her word.
Darren goes in, "Pak Rudi," call Darren.
Rudi turned his head, "Loh, you're Darren?"
Darren smiled slightly, "Yes, sir. Hhmm, I want to work here again. About can't you be the same Mr Anto?" asked Darren doubtfully.
"Ohh. If that is the case, you ask him directly. You said you could still work here. And there's no new employee yet."
"Oh yes, sir. Hhmm, Mr. Anto is not in the room, is he?"
"Just try to get there. If there isn't, you look up ahead or upstairs."
"Yes, sir. Then I'll find Mr. Anto first!" pamit Darren's.
Darren then goes to Anto's room.
Tok to tok. A few minutes no confirmation. Ah maybe Mr. Anto is checking the goods in front or upstairs. Inner Darren. He then looked for Anto in front but there was none. Darren tried to search upstairs, but Anto had just spoken to the cashier there.
"Sir Anto" call Darren. He looks doubtful.
Anto turned to her, "Darren?" ask Anto in shock.
Darren smiled then nodded his head, "Met noon, sir," he said kindly as he extended his hand.
Anto also welcomed Darren's hand, "How are you?"
"Thank God I'm good, sir," Darren replied.
"Thank God,"
"Hhmm, sir. I-I can talk to you for a second?" ask Darren embarrassed.
"could. Come on, just go to my room!" bring Anto.
They then left Anto's room. When they arrived, they sat facing each other.
"How can I help you?" ask Anto.
"Hhmm, I-I can work here again, sir? I'm done with the exam!" darren. He lowered his head in fear and also in shame.
"Your school order is in order?" tanya Anto reassured.
"Dead waiting for the result, sir."
"Hmm, yeah, that's it. But your parents didn't forbid you from working, did they?" ask Anto again.
Darren raised his face. He was confused about what to answer, while he was working secretly without the knowledge of his parents.
"Darren?"
"Hhmm, sir. Please let me work here again!" pinta Darren with pleading face.
"Darren, why don't you ask permission first, so you can work quietly. Without fear of being discovered by your parents. I also do not want to be blamed later," explained Anto.
Darren lowered his head, "I-I don't dare, sir. Hhmm, papa won't let me work" said Darren Lirih.
"Hmm, try to ask for understanding from your parents, yes."
Hhh, Darren heaved a heavy sigh. Pupus is hoping to be able to work again at the Anto minimarket.
"alright, sir. Then excuse me first" said Darren with a sad face. He then got up from his seat.
"Darrenes. I wait, yes. . ." said Anto softly.
"Hhmm, yes, sir. I'll go home first" said Darren uninspired.
Darren stepped in lethargicly.
"Darren!" call Rudi.
Darren turned, "Yes, sir," said Darren Lirih.
"Why is your face? Ugly knows!" joke Rudi.
"Indeed it's ugly" said Darren Lirih still with a sad face.
"Hehee, what's wrong with you, anyway? After the break up of girls, huh? Let's go work there. A lot of work, you're daydreaming!"
"Hhmm, I'm not working, sir," Darren replied, then continued.
"Hey, what do you mean? Mr. Anto won't accept you working here again, will you?" ask Rudi in wonder.
Darren shook his head, "Bu-not."
"Why is your face so ugly?"
"Hhmm, Anto asked me permission first with my parents!" darren.
"Ooh. Just ask permission, is it hard?"
"It is impossible to give permission!"
"Loh, why? Finding work is hard, you know. Not even given permission. Weird."
Darren still had his sad face.
Hh, Mr. Rudi does not know what the relationship between Mr. Anto with my parents. Though the wrong of my parents but still those who do not like Mr. Anto. Inner Darren.
"I'll go home, sir!" pamit Darren then immediately boarded the angkot which happened to pass by.
Arriving at his house, Darren sat pensively on the terrace.
"Darren!" calling his papa in a high voice made him tiptoe then turned to the source of the voice.
"Papa?"
"Why are you daydreaming here? Not in!"
"Hmm, later, pa. Still want to enjoy the wind" said Darren.
Papa fiercely continues to be the same as me. From a small even I have never been kissed equally papa let alone been this big. Is papa not the slightest affection for me? Hhmm, but at that time papa gave me money for school. Hh, I don't know. Inner Darren. He rubbed his own face rough. A few moments later he went into his room.
"Have you gone home, son?" ask Lisa from behind her son's door.
Darren nodded languidly, "Yes, ma."
Lisa went into the room, "What's wrong with you?"
Hhh, Darren took a deep breath, "I want another job, ma."
"Work where you were?" ask Lisa.
"Yes, ma."
"Hmm, yeah, I've been working. Your exam is done just waiting for the results."
"But, ma. Papa wouldn't let me work."
"Let mama say the same to me."
"Mama sure?"
"Mama will try!"
"Hmm, don't you know where I work?"
"Working in a workshop, right?"
Darren lowered his head while shaking, "No, ma."
"Well, don't you work there anymore? Where does it work?"
"Hmm, minimarket," replied Darren.
Lisa's forehead wrinkled, "Minimarket?"
Darren nodded, "Mama's ex-husband Minimarket."
"What's? Don't joke, son!"
Darren shook his head.
"So you. . .?"
"Me and Anto didn't know at first. We only found out when I was in the care of that time, ma!"
Lisa rubbed her face and took a heavy breath.
"Sorry, mom. I don't know."
"Then why after you know, you still want to work there, Darren?"
"Ma, who wants to hire a kid who hasn't graduated from school?"
"In your workshop at the time? In store?"
"Ma, in the workshop I was only at the salary of one hundred and fifty thousand one weeks. In minimarket Pak Anto I was given two million because of new employees. In fact, I was given three million yesterday when I didn't work a full month."
"Darren, whatever the salary is important is halal!"
"In the minimarket it is halal, ma!"
"But it's different, son. If papa you know you can get mad!"
"Hhmm, so Mr. Anto asked me permission first with mama papa. If I may, I can work there again."
"Hhh, papa you won't allow it, son."
"If mama?" ask Darren expectantly.
"Mrs. . ."
"Ma, let me, yeah!" pinta Darren with pleading face.
"Mom's afraid that you'll find out, son."
"Hhh, yes it is ma, it's okay" said Darren Lirih.
He lay on his bed with his arms as a pillow, staring at the ceiling.
