Chapter 38. My decision

I walked back and forth in front of the ER door. An hour has passed but the operation has not been completed. How is Andrew doing now? Why did the doctor take so long to treat it?

"Calm down, Shelina." Marcus sitting in the waiting chair rebuked me.

"I can't calm down Marcus. What if something bad happens? What if Andrew runs out of blood and can't—" Marcus gets up and holds both of my shoulders.

"Calm down, nothing bad will happen. Andrew must have survived."

"But what if...."

"Shhh, I understand your fear. Everything's gonna be fine. Trust me."

I looked into his black eyes. I'm scared and agitated. Fear of something bad will happen to Andrew. I would blame myself if that happened. Because I'm Andrew's hurt. Because he wanted to save me Andrew got shot.

As if understanding the fragility I was experiencing, Marcus pulled me into his arms. Marcus's hand on his back gave him peace.

The sound of the door opening made me turn my head and let go of Marcus' embrace. A doctor came out of the room. I approached him quickly.

"The operation went well. The patient is safe and will be moved to the hospital room. For a while we have to wait for the patient to wake up." I exhaled a sigh of relief. The burden on my shoulders was breaking and I said a word of gratitude repeatedly. I looked at Marcus and smiled. The man also looked relieved and returned my smile.

It's been two days since my rescue. Andrew is not yet conscious. I'm worried about Andrew not waking up. But the doctor said the operation went well. And indeed Andrew needed more rest, also asking to wait even longer.

I'm grateful to finally be safe and just wait for Andrew to regain consciousness.

Now I'm sitting waiting for Andrew in his ward. Looking at the forty-eight-year-old man who looked peaceful in his sleep. A man who looks much younger than his age. There was no gentle smile on his face. He fell asleep and did not open his eyes.

The sound of an open door and the footsteps of someone entered this room. I didn't look towards that guy.

"Is there no sign yet that he'll be conscious?" The man I believe in Marcus is standing behind me. I nodded weakly to answer his question.

"You must be tired, rest. Let me wait for him." Marcus touched my shoulder. But I didn't budge and kept staring at Andrew's face.

"Marc, I. I'll marry him." I've decided and thought about it a thousand times while I'm waiting for Andrew. I'm not gonna cancel our wedding. I've already contacted Leonardo to postpone our marriage. And asked Andrew's secretary to inform him of the incident to some of the company's friends and colleagues who received an invitation yesterday.

Marcus let out a long breath.

"We'll talk about it again after Andrew wakes up."

"Shelina!" Marcus quickly turned my shoulders to face towards him. I looked at his tired face but Marcus's eyes were emitting anger.

"You can't marry Andrew. He's mydad. The father of the man you love. And I love you so much. Please don't be like this. We can still find another way." Marcus lowered the tone of voice at the end of his speech. His eyes begged me to think about this decision again.

"No, Marc. I'm gonna marry him. I can't leave or let her down. No, after what happened to him." I hardened my heart and pretended I didn't see any wounds in Marcus's eyes.

"Are you going to marry me if the one lying down right now is me?" Ask Marcus in a high tone.

"No. I'll marry Andrew even if you're lying in a hospital bed." I knew this decision would hurt Marcus as well as myself. Andrew has sacrificed a lot for me.

"Shelina's." Marcus rubbed his hair showing the frustration he was experiencing.

"Please understand, Marc. We're not meant to be together." I turned my body to Marcus. My tears are dripping and I can't hold them anymore.

"Come home, I know you're tired of taking care of Aiden's office and charges. I'll take care of Andrew." There was no answer from Marcus. The man just stayed behind me. He must still be looking at me. I was too scared to turn around. Soon I heard the footsteps drifting away and the door slamming loudly.

I'm sure this decision will definitely hurt his heart. But I can't leave Andrew. Can't do.

If I could cancel our marriage, I wouldn't be able to be with Marcus and get Andrew's blessing. From then until now it was very difficult for us to unite. It was as if fate was against our togetherness. I did not despair or give up on fighting for my love with Marcus. But because I think more realistically.

"How are you doing? Is anyone sick?" Andrew smiled weakly.

"I'm calling the doctor to check on you." Then I went to call the doctor. I'm really grateful that Andrew finally came to his senses. And doctors also say Andrew's healing is much faster.
