My body is getting limp. I was even lying on the floor but the big hand did not let go of the giggling.
A light suddenly came. Getting closer to me. Like water in the desert. The light means so much. I shed tears knowing that I would come out of this misery.
The light was getting closer to shining on my body. And I can see who is the hero who brought the light in this darkness. The man's eyes widened and worry was clearly displayed, he quickly placed his mobile phone which was a light source on the mattress.
He is Marcus. The man immediately grabbed me in his warm embrace. My body was still trembling but slowly the warmth of Marcus' body calmed me down.
"Shelina, what happened to you?" Marcus let go of his arms as I calmed down. He looked into my two eyes. The hand that was strangling me disappeared.
Doctors once said that it was just a hallucination of someone with Achluophobia. I know that but still, every time the darkness comes at me something like that happens to me. And if no one comes to save me, I could faint or maybe go into a coma. Because my phobias are so bad.
Marcus' hand rubbed my cheek to wipe away the tears. My breath is still hunting and I'm trying to normalize it.
"What happened to you?" His eyes were focused on me and demanded an answer.
"Achluo ..phobia." My voice stuck in my dry throat causing pain.
"Achluophobia? Dark phobias?" Marcus's forehead shriveled. I nodded slowly. Unable to make my hoarse voice again. My body is still too weak. I leaned against the foot of the bed and Marcus sat down beside me. The atmosphere in my room was still dark but the light from Marcus' phone made my fear less. I just need to look into the light and not see the darkness that still surrounds my room. Plus the existence of someone beside me that makes me not alone. That's all I ever needed in a dark room. A little light and someone beside me.
"I don't think you have a phobia. So, when did you get Achluophobia?" Marcus's concern stirred my heart to tell me a little bit of the sadness I always kept tight.
"I've had Achluophobia since my mother died." Marcus' eyes grew bigger before he said.
"Your mother's dead, I just found out." I nodded briefly.
"Why can you phobia the darkness?"
"Because the night my mother died my house went out of lights."
That night after Jonathan left mom lifeless, the man just left. I screamed my mother's name repeatedly. I wish he would wake up and answer my call. But the mother did not answer, her body did not move even a little, there was no movement up and down from her chest that made me more hysterical. My weak and helpless body could not get close to my mother.
I cried even louder with my body shaking violently. As if it wasn't enough to witness my mother's death in plain sight, fate added to my suffering. Suddenly the lights off. Everything was pitch-black without a beam of light. My body is getting shaky. My eyes moved uneasily looking around, but there was only darkness I got.
Fear runs through my body. I felt like there was another person watching me from the darkness. A large and terrifying figure that hid in the darkness and prepared to attack me. The cold sweat was already pouring out and my heart was beating so fast.
Again, my eyes moved uneasily. Then a hand quickly choked me tight. I can't break into. My body is so limp. My voice is choked and hoarse. The tears are flowing more and more. I could not see the figure of the owner of the hand that was choking me. And it made me even more afraid. I was so scared that I fainted unconscious.
It was a terrible night all my life. Since then I have been traumatized. My body would shake violently and lose consciousness if I remembered that night, and I also had an acute phobia of darkness.
And I frowned confused when I was done telling Marcus the reason why I had Achluophobia. Usually my trauma arises if I tell about that night, even by looking at the mother's relics alone, my trauma must have recurred. But these? I'm doing fine. I did experience a feeling of tightness and trembling, but not to the point of losing my consciousness. Could it be because Marcus is beside me?
"It must be very heavy for you. Being in the dark with a wounded and helpless body and a mother who died not far from you." Marcus pulled me back in his arms. His hand rubbed my back gently, giving it tranquility.
After a few minutes and my body had calmed down Marcus let go of his embrace. I sat back at the foot of the bed.
"When will the lights go out?" It's been almost an hour but the lights aren't on either.
"No, I won't leave you alone. It's night, sleep." My eyes glanced at Marcus's phone which featured a digital clock that showed at eleven p.m. It's already night but I'm scared and can't sleep.
"Sleep Shelina, you have to work tomorrow." Marcus' hand is stroking my hair.
"No, I'm afraid you'll leave me when you're asleep." Marcus smiled slightly and pulled my head to lean on his shoulder.
"No, I'm not leaving and I'm going to stay by your side." Marcus' hand rubbed my head. Provides a soothing caress. My hand grabbed onto Marcus' shirt and held him tightly. Slowly I closed my eyes. Marcus's hand was successful in getting me into dreamland.

I opened my eyes before they opened completely. I was in a moment of disorientation. Why do I sleep on the floor? A second later, the incident reminded me of last night. I smiled and straightened my head which was still resting on Marcus' shoulder.
The man kept his promise. He even fell asleep next to me. His head rested at the foot of the bed and his hands clasped my right hand. Seeing Marcus sleeping beside me makes me happy.
He must have been sore because I fell asleep on his shoulder. The lights are on too. With my free left hand I shook Marcus's body. It's already half seven. I had to wake her up so she wouldn't be late for work. I'm still looking at Marcus's face.
"Marcus, wake up in the morning" I said, still shaking his body. Slowly his eyes blinked, then he rubbed his two eyes. Just like a kid who just woke up. Looks really cute. My hands are so itchy that I want to pull both cheeks.
Marcus' eyes were now fully open and staring at me. He smiled so wide and blinded my eyes. Her smile could rival the sunlight, sounding exaggerated but that was how I felt.
"For Shelina," Marcus's distinctive raspy wake-up voice sounded sexy.
"Morning," I replied briefly and returned her bright smile. Then Marcus did a muscle stretch of his hand.
"There go back to your room, I want to take a shower and get ready for work." I got up while doing the same stretch. Oh, my God, my neck hurts so much. Sleeping in a sitting position is not good.
"You kicked me out?" marcus said in disbelief.
There was a light from his black eyes. I nodded briefly and started walking towards the bathroom. Marcus immediately clucked in disbelief.
"Who last night asked me not to leave him?"
My face warmed and my legs stopped walking. My heart skipped a beat when Marcus was standing right behind me.
"What if we take a shower together?" Marcus' temptation is right in my ear. My eyes grew and turned around quickly.
"Marcus!" My screams tightened and pushed her body away and then ran inside my bathroom. I locked the bathroom door and heard Marcus's loud laughter.
Aish that guy really sucks. I walked towards the wastapel and found my face that was already flushed like a ripe tomato.
