Chapters 1. Foreign Chamber
Fiona blinked her eyes. He did not know how long he had been unconscious. His head was hit by a blunt object many times on the right and left sides. Though as he remembered, he was in the room alone, spending the rawon he had just cooked before sunset. After the last mouthful he felt a great dizziness.
While lying down, Fiona looked around. The room he was in was now so dark. There was not the slightest illumination, only the moonlight coming through the window. How strange. She ate a rawon when the lights were turned on, Fiona remembered it. Is the light off? thought.
In addition to dark, the smell of the room is also different. The house he lived in was always given the scent of lavender flowers in the corner of the room. Because her grandmother liked it. He said, so there are no mosquitoes. However, in this room, Fiona smelled more human sweat than flowers. There is also a mixture of alcohol. Like someone just got drunk. Smelled pretty close. Fiona was sure, not from her.
I just ate rawon! Did the kluwek seeds I was cooking contain cyanide? It's impossible, right?
The dizziness returned to attack. Fiona was about to stomp her head, then realized that her hands were under a thick blanket. Confusion increases. Fiona doesn't have this kind of blanket.
The girl decided to straighten up. His surroundings seemed clearer, after that he could only see the ceiling. There are various white furniture, with carved ornaments on each corner of the edge. This room was clearly three times the size of Fiona's actual room.
The bed that Fiona was sitting on right now was not her usual possession either. It was twice as wide as his. The base cloth was so soft and smooth, it looked like an expensive item. Fiona's mouth couldn't hold, too gawking at all that.
His heart is beating fast. Fiona realizes that she is in a very foreign place, wearing a thin, almost transparent, white dress under the covers. Bad thoughts began to emerge.
Am I being kidnapped? Where am I now?

"Fi, you're called boss, huh." Dea's voice broke Fiona's daydream that was sitting dumbstruck at her cubicle table. The computer screen in front of the girl featured a dashboard of online sales charts of BX Apparels handbags and clothing products over the past year.
Various well-known online marketplace names are listed on the chart, in one long column. Meanwhile, on the right side of the table is a series of numbers that show the performance of advertising campaigns and discounts on company products installed by Fiona. Now, the girl is staring at one of the tables whose sales figures are declining in all marketplaces.
"Sir Theo, Ma'am?" ask Fiona to make sure.
Dea nodded. "Sori, I told you the reason, but he still wants to talk directly to you."
Fiona got up from the chair and stepped foot in the direction of a large room on the west side of this office. That's his superior room, Theodore. The half-century-old man served as chief operating officer at BX Apparels, where Fiona worked.
Indeed, Fiona should not have reported directly to him. There are still two more people above Fiona to get to Theo. However, Theo is a person who works micromanagement, aka the desire to take care of company problems to small things, which he should not need to intervene directly.
That's how it is at the moment. Fiona opened the door of the room, and was immediately greeted by Theodore's wry face. There was a black laptop that had opened, facing towards Fiona. The girl knew what she was going to talk about, but she kept quiet, waiting for her boss to speak first.
Fiona can only bow down. BX Apparels is the company that owns the famous BXs bags and clothing brands. Its popularity has even reached neighboring countries. Growing in popularity after Fiona was recruited to take care of her online marketing department.
Sales have risen by 60 percent since Fiona joined the company, and the long black-haired girl tied in a ponytail has kept her work in check. But it is true, Theo said. This is the third time, Fiona's work performance has declined. This time, his company has lost 200 million potential sales in one week.
"I'm sorry, sir .. I may be exhausted .. , " replied Fiona timidly.
Actually, the girl's answer was not wrong. Since working as a digital marketing, Fiona is rarely able to rest. Every day, especially when the same date and month occur, ahead of the payday time of Indonesian employees, even during national holidays, Fiona must still monitor the movement of sales charts.
Fiona ensures that the best-selling items in the previous day will appear in advertisements more often, so that people see more and invite buyers to arrive. He must also carefully see the discounts installed correctly, and ensure that the stock of goods in the warehouse in accordance with what is displayed on the website. The movement of goods traded online is very dynamic every day, and Fiona must be able to adjust.
"Does this have anything to do with your grandmother anymore?" ask Theo. Fiona nodded. Her tears were about to spill, but she was trying hard. Grandma is the only family member left. Since her parents died, Fiona brought the old woman to the capital, because she was accepted to work there. Just a week ago, her grandmother passed away.
The lungs of women can no longer survive in the air pollution of big cities like Jakarta. Previously, my grandmother had suffered two asthma attacks. Twice, Fiona loses her concentration at work, thinking about her grandmother having to stay in the hospital. Now, her grandmother is completely gone. Fiona feels very guilty, because even in the last moments of her life, Fiona remains busy working.
Theo sighed and exhaled slowly. "I know you're still in mourning. But you have to be able to act professionally. Companies lose money every time you think about something else while working ... ."
Theo lectured Fiona at length. The next words no longer entered the girl's ears. In fact, there is a sense of emotion. Next, an outpouring of anger just popped out of Fiona's mouth. Something he never thought would be done before.
"Unprofessional? Me? Sir, I went to the office for our product live broadcast on the X marketplace website, when my grandmother was fighting for her life in the hospital! Because no one can replace me! And now, you're saying I'm not professional?!"
"That's not what I mean, Fiona. Relax ... ." Theo tried to calm his work's anger. However, Fiona's emotions have spilled like a waterfall that can not be restrained.
"Evenings for 24 hours I continue to work, holidays I can not relax-relaxed to enjoy a break, all for the sake of this company! And you say, I'm not professional? BXs profit a lot since I worked here, did you forget that!" Fiona kicked her desk with one hand. Theo jumped in shock and stroked his chest.
"Now, I'm not even allowed to grieve, am I? What do you work yourself! You are selfish, just because the CEO is angry at you because sales numbers are dropping, you call me right away!"
"Fiona! Keep talking!" Theo started to ride the apoplexy. He got up from the chair, revealing his fat body that had been hiding behind the table. Both of the old man's eyes flashed sharply, but Fiona kept on scathing.
"It should be, as a good boss, that you stand up for me, not lecturing like this!" Fiona's breath was wheezing, followed by tears that often dripped on the cheeks.
Theo so pity made. It is true, he was warned by the owner of the company about the losses that occurred. Without Fiona knowing, Theo himself has been trying to kink, giving reasons so that Fiona is not to blame. He knew the girl was grieving. Theo just wanted to give a little reprimand. Apparently, he was reprimanding at the wrong time. The old man did not expect this to ignite his work's emotions.
"I want to resign, sir," Fiona suddenly said.
