Returnees

Hearing someone knock on her bedroom door, Salma immediately let her in.

“Mother, what's up?” Seeing her mother coming in, Salma straightened her seat.

“When you catch up with Nanda.” Mom smiled, not as usual when discussing the matter of marrying her first daughter is usually worried.

Salma chose silence not to answer.

“Don't you have a girlfriend? Don't be long, your age is enough to get married.” Mom broke Salma's silence.

“I don't have a girlfriend.” Answer Salma briefly.

“Nanda should say so. You don't have to hide that from mom.” I don't seem to believe what Salma said.

Salma smiled at her mother.

“Mother, I broke up with her. We do not match.” Salma replied and then returned to her body.

“No match how?”

I can't believe what her son said. He had felt happy after hearing Salma finally had a lover and hoped that his wait to see his son immediately release his single will be over, but again it seems like he has to be patient again.

“Bu forgive me.” Salma said.

“You can tell anything to Mom, don't hold it yourself if you have a problem.” Mother tried to say calmly despite actually feeling disappointed because her son again failed to establish relationships with others and was too closed to her. During this time Ms. Fatma only knew when Salma liked Malik, besides, she had never heard of her son being close to another man. A few minutes ago was the first time I heard that Salma had a lover. Although conscious dating is not entirely true, but considering the age of his children who showed the possibility of dating to get to know each other and have the goal of marriage makes him feel relieved.

“Bu, “ Salma ventured to look at her mother. He wanted to tell the truth what he really felt. Salma wanted to say that she was still thinking about Malik.

“Mother doesn't insist, tell me you're ready.” Mom stood up and walked out of the room.

Mother has a feeling of wearing less. From the look of Salma's eyes he felt that what his son said would add to his disappointment. I don't feel ready to hear that.

‘’’’’

After saying goodbye to Sumi, his uncle's wife, Gani proposes his motorcycle to return to his hometown. Although Gani comes home regularly every semester and if you are free every three months, which is arguably not too long like other overseas students. However, the moment of returning home has its own taste and is always a pleasant moment for him. For Gani, the atmosphere of his hometown has always been a place to unwind from the boisterous urban piuk where he studied.

Unlike other overseas students, Gani is not only arguably more often home, but also he is not entirely free. Most overseas students live alone in their own boarding houses or homes or can also live with regional friends. Unlike Gani, she feels not much different from home, she still has curfew restrictions, eating home-cooked food because she lives with her uncle's family who treat her like a child herself. Gani sometimes feels burdened he is not like most of his friends who can go home at any time, but he realized that behind his friend's freedom there are many things they should think about like ‘ tonight eat what?’. But he doesn't have to think about that. Gani realized, he should be grateful not complaining.

After a long journey, Gani finally entered a village that is none other than his hometown. His smile broke when he saw the villagers greeting him. Not much different from her brother Salma, although they are the children of the kades who are respected and money they are equally humble and never arrogant with anyone. Gani continued to greet people he knew all the way through his village.

Salma was preparing to go to the hospital. Today, she gets a shift to work the night shift.

“Assalamu’alaikum” Salma said after kissing her mother's hand, then stepped out of the house.

“Wa’alaikumussalam” replied Mother while looking at the back of her son who was getting away. Mom returned to stirring her cooking.

“Sal.” Call Elsa who is sitting on the porch of her house while talking to her second child.

“Iya, why?” Salma looked at her neighbor.

“What's wrong, I just want to call you.” Elsa smiled at Salma, she knew that her little friend was already really successful and was much different from her. She should not invite him to hang out on weekdays because Salma is not like her who still has time to gossip especially when her husband is not at home.

“Oh. “

“Zahra where?” Salma asked when she did not see the whereabouts of her neighbor's son.

“She's with her father.”

“Gani come.” Elsa looks at Gani from a distance.

Gani parked his bike next to Salma who already wanted to leave.

“Evening work?” Tanya Gani looked at her brother.

“Iya.”

“Oiya.” Gani reached into her bag.

While Salma waited, looking at her sister who wanted to show her something.

“It's got a sister right?” Gani stretched out her hand holding the ballpoint pen.

Gani handed over the Salma ballpoint pen that Malik gave him some time ago.

“Where did you find this?” Tanya Salma was curious.

“Sister Malik gave this to me and asked to return it to my sister. I'm honestly curious, why is this on him?” Gani said with a lower voice because she did not want to hear Elsa.

It's not without reason that Gani doesn't want Elsa to hear him mention Malik. She knows Elsa knows her brother who was once close to Malik. Gani does not want Elsa to misunderstand and think about things that are far from what actually happened.

“Later I tell.” Salma replied after looking at the clock on her wrist and stuffing her pen in the bag. If he told me now of his meeting with Malik, it would make him late for work.

Gani nodded.

“Malik..” Elsa said but cut.

“Hah?” Gani immediately cut off the neighbor's sentence. Sure enough, what he was worried about seemed to be about to happen. Gani sees Salma, and vice versa. Salma realizes that Gani is lowering her voice because she does not want her words about Malik to be heard by Elsa. Salma also felt scared and looked at her sister with the same gaze.
