Chapters 30. Last Night

A clear afternoon brought Gilang to walk through the village. He walked while thinking how all the misfortune that befell Alan could happen. Is there really anything to do with Bobby. If that were true, how much Bobby could have harmed his own brother. That was how it was in Gilang's mind.

But Gilang is still thinking about how to prove if Bobby has harmed Alan. And without guessing, he had been in front of the forest. He was thinking of going into the forest. But, he paused again because it was impossible to get evidence there. The forest was so vast and the river was also rather deep. Finally, Gilang turned around.

However, it was as if he had seen someone from within the forest. He turned around again to prove his sight. And sure enough, there was someone walking out from within the forest. An old man carrying a fishing line and a mesh. He walked while looking at something he was holding.

"Have caught the fish sir?", asked Gilang when the father was close to him.

"Yes" he answered smiling.

"Many fish sir?", asked Gilang again.

"Oh, ha, ha, only a few can. But good enough", he answered with a laugh. "But I got this too", he continued, showing me a cell phone.

I saw that phone. And it looks like it's very similar to what Alan used to wear. Excuse me for holding the phone. He turned the thing around and he was absolutely sure it belonged to Alan. He tried to bring it to life but, he couldn't.

"Where did you get this?", asked Gilang.

"That's when I wanted to pull the net, my feet were like kicking something. Because the position of the father is still on the edge of the river, the inside is still knee-deep so when you look down to see this object and immediately you take it. Does this belong to you?", the father explained.

"Yes, this seems to belong to my friend. He said he fell in the river. Oh, aye. Did you catch the fish near the bridge?" ask Gilang again.

"Yes, I always catch fish there" he replied.

Then, Gilang offered a sum of money to redeem the phone to the father. However, the father refused it. He said if it really belongs to Gilang, then just take it and do not need to pay it. Gilang was so grateful for the generosity of the Father. Then the father decided to go home first.

Now Gilang can breathe a sigh of relief. What he wants is immediately realized. He thanked God for granting his wish. And now he just gave the phone to the service place to fix it. Gilang hopes there is a clue that can prove who the perpetrator of the accident was.

It's so cold tonight. But, not making Dini afraid to come out. He walked around his yard. There was a sense of unease that made him uneasy. Then, he turned to look at Alan's room. Then he walked towards her. Just a few steps away, the door of the room opened and made Early steps come to a halt. The figure of the man he was thinking about from earlier came out from inside his room. He also saw Dini who was standing before him.

Alan walked closer to Dini. He saw the teary eyes of Early. Alan understood what he was feeling. Because Alan felt it too.

"Are you sorry about your decision?", asked Alan while looking into both Early eyes.

Dini immediately turned her face away, "No, I have no regrets".

"Look, I don't know how long I'm gonna be there. But, I'll be back for you" Alan said. Then, Alan held both shoulders Early, "I promise, I'll come back and on that day I'll propose to you".

"I was just thinking, what are my days without you. It must have been so quiet. I'm getting used to you. And longing must come for you", said Dini revealed his heart.

"If Allah wills. I will repay all your longings with untold happiness. You remember, I love you so much Dini. I don't want to make you feel the pain of longing. Do you trust me?"

Dini nodded her head and shed her tears. It felt so hard to let go of his loved ones. So many promises Alan made. And that makes Dini even sadder. There's a thought that comes if Alan never comes back for him. And will his heart be closed forever if it happens. It feels like Dini will be lazy to fall in love again.

"So you packed your things?" ask Dini.

"Not much will I bring. Because I came to this place also brought nothing but the one that was wearing. But, later if I come back again, I will take you with me as my wife" Alan replied with a smile.

Dini smiled, "It seems that you are very intending to stalk me huh?"

"Don't doubt me".

"This is our last night. But, there's not much we can do but pour out this heart".

"If you want me not to go, I won't go Early".

Dini lowered her head. The sadness that he had been enduring was unstoppable. Her tears flowed until they fell to the ground. Although he did not want Alan to leave, Alan had to leave. He should meet his family soon. Whatever consequences. I don't want to be a selfish person. It becomes a barrier for Alan to reunite with his parents.

"Dina".

"I'm okay. Don't mind my crying. I want you to meet your family soon. I'll wait for you. I. I trust you", Dini said in tears but he wanted to convince Alan that he was okay to let go.

"Can I see you smiling? Please don't give me grief when I'm gone. Or I'll never leave".

"Din, how can I calm down if you continue to grieve. You told me to go home. You said you were okay. But now the proof is that you continue to feel sad. You know, I feel so wrong".

He immediately wiped his tears. Then, he smiled and his face radiated happiness. Alan was right, that he should be tough. Alan could not see his sadness. Alan could not hesitate to leave.

"I promise you, I won't be sad. I'll always smile for you, Alan".
