Fragrant For Galih

Fragrant For Galih
Ep. 30 Unexpected Stories #2

"Now I want to ask, how did you decide Galih?"

Instead of jerking for a moment and being silent, the question posed by his Command was really unexpected. For a moment Galih's mind turned blank, he didn't know what to give an answer to.

"Om, i..." Galih's speech stopped.

"I know it's so sudden for you and I'm sure papa you haven't said anything about this." Rendra.

"Yes, why didn't you say anything to me?" Galih was disappointed why didn't her father say something this important to her? Something about his life.

"Don't blame your papa, he deliberately didn't say anything to you before he came home from the Hospital. It's just that I decided to tell you this truth first before your father speaks and before Fragrance hears it directly." Galih frowned looking at Rendra as if asking, why? And as knowing it Rendra immediately continued his words.

"Your father is a stubborn man, if he were to say all this to the two of you simultaneously there was even a storm. You must know for yourself how the character of your father is, and again Fragrant, you certainly do not know very well how the nature of Fragrance because you have not long known. The child is a little unruly and has a free soul, he always thinks and acts as he wants, but he is a smart, kind child and has a high social spirit. So maybe this will be hard for him to accept. Om just doesn't want any commotion when that time comes." Rendra said at length.

Galih was still speechless, he was still digesting what Rendra had told him.

"Now what do you think, huh?" Ask Rendra back.

"Of... Frankly, this is really surprising to me, if I accept this matchmaking, it is not necessarily Fragrant also accept it. And I want to ask Rendra, do you believe me? Believe that your daughter will be happy with me?" I turned the question over to Rendra.

"God I believe, both your parents are good people, I believe if they educate you in a good way too. And all this time I've been watching you, I know you're a good and well-mannered boy. I need people like you to care for and educate Fragrance. Haa... Like a lion he needs to be tamed, and I'm sure with your patience and decisiveness you will be able to face the child." Rendra answered while laughing lightly considering how agile Fragrance when acting.

"If you really accept our parents' decision, I want you to try to tame Fragrance if the child does not accept our decision." Rendra.

"But there's one thing you don't know about me, I've...."

"Break heart." Rendra immediately cut off Galih's words which made the young man shocked back.

"Om know?" Galih did not suspect that Rendra knew about the painful matter.

"Both of your parents told me everything. I'm so sad to hear that." Rendra paused his words and said back.

"At first your father gave up on this matchmaking after knowing your relationship with your lover used to be a serious relationship. Although Ridwan is stubborn, he is not a person who likes to impose his will on others especially regarding the happiness of his own son. Ridwan thought maybe it wasn't his soul mate he was dating me. But after what happened with your relationship makes Ridwan again hope and think he and my family are still paired, especially when he saw his wife sad because you still can not let go of your love first." Galih was stunned to hear Rendra's last words about her mother. He never thought if the sadness of his heart because of the departure of Sinar had an impact on the heart of his mother. Galih most do not like to see his mother sad let alone cry, especially the cause is himself.

"Yes God... I don't know if my mother harbored that sadness all this time because I was om, I really wasn't a good child, I sinned for making my mother cry om...." Galih looked down, propping up his head with both hands. Tears flowed from both corners of her eyes. She cried.

"I know that sadness is very hard for you, losing a loved one is painful. But you also can not fall asleep in this slump forever Galih, your life does not stop here. Don't forget there is a long tomorrow ahead of you. You can think of him occasionally as a good memory, but you also don't forget the people who love you and thought of you all along." Said Rendra gave understanding to Galih.

"It's up to you Galih, I won't ask for your answer now. At least you can still reflect on it before the family meeting." Rendra said with the answer.

Galih was still down and still sobbing softly. Rendra who saw it also became a little pity, now he saw for himself how fragile a Galih who always looks stiff and cold.

"Now calm your heart first, then think carefully about our conversation tonight, whatever your decision we will try to accept it." Said Rendra while patting Galih on the shoulder for the man to feel a little calm.

Galih nodded, she wiped her tears with her hands then looked towards Rendra who was sitting before her.

"I'll think about it." Sahut Galih's.

"Then I go back first, it's late and you don't go back to the dormitory either." Said Rendra while getting up from his seat.

"Om good." Answer Galih.

Rubbing her hair with her fingers. It was still visible from the look on his face if he was very tired. His conversation with Rendra that night was so heavy that it made him difficult to sleep because he thought about it.

"Ohhhh...." He breathed as if frustrated.

"Maybe it's time for me to make peace with my heart? If so, should I try it? Rays... You won't be mad at me, will you? I've always loved you, imagining myself with someone other than you makes me betray you, but many people would be sad if I continued like this, especially my mother. Hearing mama so sad because I made my heart hurt. What should I do Sinar?"

Galih's heart kept asking what he should do. He did not want his parents especially Ratna his mother grieved thinking about him. On the other hand, he also did not want to be too long washed away in grief because of the departure of Sinar. Galih wants all his loved ones to be happy, especially his mother and also Sinar, even though the woman is no longer in this world, Galih hoped that Sinar would always be happy at the side of his Creator so that the guilt in his heart would erode with time.

Look at the clock on his wrist. For too long he's daydreamed on the terrace of the Mushola.

"That's it.... Please help me not to make the wrong decision."

After muttering that in his heart, Galih began to stand up from his seat and left from there.
