Fragrant For Galih

Fragrant For Galih
Ep. 2 Story of Sendu #2

"Is this really you?" Asked Mr. Sastro to Galih as if the middle-aged man could not believe that the young man standing before him was him.

"It's really me sir, Galih Admaja." Galih answered while thrusting his hand to grab and kiss the hand of his future father-in-law.

"Yes God... This is really you cf. Matt... Ohh yeah, let's go in son, come in!" Sir Sastro ordered Galih to enter his house and told him to sit down. The three of them talked to each other and in the end Galih asked how Sinar was doing. He asked why he had not seen the existence of the light inside the house? At once also the father and mother of Sinar fell silent and looked at each other. Then Rukmini said...

"Oh yes son, you just arrived and immediately came here must be very tired. It's almost dark and soon will magrib, you should take a shower first to let it fresh." Rukmini said with a smile.

"We pray magrib together? After that we have dinner, incidentally mom cook vegetables asem, tempe mendoan and sambal terasi your favorite." Continue Rukmini who is still smiling at Galih.

"All right then." While returning Rukmini's smile, Galih obeyed the words of his future father-in-law. Even though he himself did not know for sure the meaning of the smile. All he knew was that he felt strange about Sinar's father and mother's attitude, like there was something they had hidden from him the first time he came. Especially when he asked about the appearance of the two faces suddenly turned stiff. But Galih immediately threw away the prejudice.

"Maybe my feelings." Galih said inwardly, then he rushed towards the bathroom to clean himself up. After bathing and praying magrib, Galih also had dinner with his father and mother Sinar, he felt there was less.

"Ohh yes sir, this house is so quiet huh? Where is Wita? I didn't see him." Eventually Galih ventured to ask, though that was not only what she wanted to ask, but also about her beloved Ray.

"Ealaahh Wita? If Wita had never been at home, she is now studying in Surabaya. Return home only once a month, even then at least two days after returning to Surabaya." Answer mr. Sastro.

"Yes, Galih, so every day we're alone at home." Add Rukmini's mom.

"Where is the light, sir?" Finally the question came out of Galih's mouth, he couldn't help it anymore to ask that. But again their faces turned strange. This made a new question for the handsome young man.

"Is Sinar married and happy with another man? Maybe he was tired of waiting for me who never came home, then he decided to leave me and choose another man."

But Galih had not had time to ask about that Mr. Sastro had spoken up.

"We should eat first, then after we talk about the rays." Sir Sastro and Galih also agreed. Finally they continued to eat dinner, although in fact Galih rather difficult to swallow his food because his heart was still not calm before he knew what happened actually.

After dinner the three of them gathered in the living room, what an unpleasant atmosphere. Everything there looks tense but slowly Mr. Sastro opens his voice.

"Before I speak further, I beg nak Galih whatever I say later I want Galih to be able to accept it with a spacious heart." Mr. Sastro paused for a moment, took a deep breath then exhaled slowly, then said back.

"Bengini nak Galih's... Previously we and the family apologized because we did not tell this matter earlier to Galih son, because we did not expect that Galih son would return after serving for a long time." Said Mr. Sastro as calmly and as much as possible so as not to surprise Galih.

"Actually..." Mr. Sastro's words stopped in midair as Galih cut his words.

Mr. Sastro tried to explain it again.

"Since your departure from duty to Papua, Sinar has always been faithful to wait for you. But a year passed you never gave any news, not long after that someone reported if you fell on the battlefield. And finally..." Mr. Sastro's lips trembled as if he could not continue his words.

"And finally what, sir? And finally Sinar decided to marry someone else and is now happy?" What Galih had in mind finally overflowed as well, with all the rest of the calm she had trying to dampen the emotions that were on her chest.

Hearing Galih's words, Rukmini immediately spoke up.

"Sinar is happy now, but he's not married, you're the only man my daughter loves, my daughter... He is now happy on the side of his Creator." Clear details drip slowly from her eyes. With all the strength of his fragile heart, Rukmini said.

"The light left us all six months ago." Finally the gentle woman could not hold back her tears any longer, she cried bitterly while hugging her husband.

After hearing all that Galih's chest felt tight like being hit by thousands of prayers, his heart seemed to stop beating. The news hit his heart so hard, he still couldn't believe all that was happening.

"No way, none of this is possible!! This is all a lie, isn't it, ma'am?" Galih began to growl, his heart's emotions were unstable and began to peak.

"The light is still there, right? She couldn't have left me, she'd promised to wait for me to come back." Reveal it with a shaky shoulder.

"Calm down, Galih... You must be able to accept all this, you must be sincere." Mr. Sastro tried to calm his former son-in-law.

"After hearing the news that you fell in battle, his spirit of life ceased to exist, he fell ill. The liver he suffered was bad enough, all the food that went into his body was rejected and finally Sinar was no longer helped." Mr. Sastro revealed the truth.

"It's all my fault sir... Had I not left, had I not told him to wait it out, Sinar would still be here." The gallant man bowed limply, sobbing. A regret was embedded in his heart.

"You can't say that, son... Our family has let him go. Sinar loves you so much, you must also sincerely let him go. The departure of the Light is the destiny of the Almighty, perhaps the best path for the Light, you and all of us. There is nothing to be sorry about, nothing wrong. All we have to do now is pray that Sinar is happy in his new home." Mr. Sastro said wisely, hoping that Galih would give up the death of his daughter and not blame himself.

The Flash Back Of...

Since then, Galih has always been haunted by guilt and deep regret. Even every woman who crossed his eyes looked like a ray. Until people assumed he was crazy, fortunately it did not last long and was still lucky he had good friends who always reminded him and gave advice when the regret came back.
