Under the shade of the tree in the backyard of the villa, I sat down with an infusion bottle with me. Sitting alone while looking at the twilight sky with his waist that makes me miss someone.
Hordes of clouds – clouds still faithfully surround the sky that began to darken. Every now and then, – birds are seen crossing the afternoon sky while chirping forming an instrument that sounds beautifully greeting the eardrum.
My gaze shifted to stare at a bracelet that I always wore on my left wrist. I looked at it with the corner of my lips starting to pull upwards. My right hand moved to open the bracelet and looked at it with a longing that was difficult for me to pat.
How are you, Rauf?
You know, when I started to realize my feelings, but I had to close first. And you know how I feel now? In fact, I like you more.
Does it feel like loving someone?
Rauf, I myself have forgotten, how long the communication has not been established. I hope you never get hurt.
When I was busy looking at the bracelet, I didn't realize that someone was staring at me. He stood right behind me holding back his desire to meet me as someone I longed for.
When he had mastered himself, he came forward and sat some distance away from me. His hand stretched out and gave me a glass of warm water.
“Minumas”, he said in a flat impressed tone.
My forehead shriveled while receiving the glass.
“Thank you”, I said by turning my eyes the other way.
Why now does his tone sound flat tend to be cold? Where was that soft voice? I muttered in my heart while keeping the bracelet in the pocket of the trouser skirt I was wearing.
“For now, stay here until the state is right – is really safe. Moreover, you only realized after three days of unconsciousness”, he said with a tone that sounded worried about me.
He looks a lot like a chameleon. The difference is, he is adept at changing his tone of voice.
“So, for three days since the incident I was unconscious? Sorry, if all that time I trouble you”, I said while drinking the warm water he brought earlier.
It was quiet until I took the initiative to ask him. With doubt and nervousness I began to ask him.
“When hiking, didn't you manage to get a knife impaled and fall into a ravine? But in reality, you are still alive?”, I asked by continuing to sip warm water to suppress the nervousness that plagues my heart.
“As you can see, I am still alive”, he replied as he gazed into the twilight sky.
“Indeed, how many lives do you have to survive a death? Don't – don't, you're a ghost who holds me accountable who has made you die of curiosity?”, I ask with a feeling of goosebumps greet me.
Unbeknownst to me, the corners of his lips were slightly pulled upwards when he heard my words. He tried not to laugh at the silly questions I asked him.
“Finely, you rest let her speak no ngawur”, he said who immediately stood up and walked away from me.
Just a few steps, my words managed to stop his intention to leave from there.
“You know, your smile reminds me of someone. At first, I thought that he was helping me, but I was relieved that it wasn't him. At least, he does not need to be involved with a problem that is not his spirit”, I said as I looked back at the twilight sky.
“You like it?”, the question of the masked man – suddenly made me turn to him with a sad look that began to adorn my face.
I put the glass on the garden table and immediately stood up, then walked while holding the infusion bottle until it left only three steps between me and the masked man –.
I looked into his eyes without any intention of distracting him. With all I could, I tried to see how the eyes hidden behind the mask were. He who was starting to get uncomfortable immediately turned his gaze in any direction.
“And do you have the right to hear my answer?”, he replied, turning my words upside down.
Huh huh?
I was surprised to hear his answer. The growing curiosity made me dare to go forward and unmasks that blocked my vision. I went forward with one step left and my hand immediately moved to remove the mask.
My movements turned out to have been read by him. When my hand was about to reach for the mask, it reflexively took a few steps back until it was only able to grab the wind that was blowing.
“Please keep attitude. And I reiterate once again, you have no right to hear my answer and know about me”, he said, stressing his words.
He immediately passed into the villa leaving me speechless without getting a clarity. I looked at his back that was starting to drift away and was lost behind the door.
Even your back reminds me of him. Could it be that you are the same person?
For some reason, I get nervous when I get close enough to you. In fact, I don't know you. The same nervousness when Rauf was close enough to me.
What kind of face is hidden behind the mask?
Far from the range of my vision, the male – man who just left me, now he is in his room. Stare at the mirror while feeling the mask attached to his face. Slowly, his hands began to open the mask until a person's face appeared.
He has sharp eyes. His gaze made me reluctant to look at him for a long time.
Being close enough to him, it was a huge drain on energy. Huft.
Male – masked man who is none other than Rauf, looks restless. Over and over again, he took a breath and exhaled it with a feeling he had difficulty understanding.
“It should be this complicated to like and love him?”, muttered Rauf who turned out to be heard by someone.
“Do not be weak, Rauf”, said Ghaly who is already on the right side of the friend.
Ghaly patted his best friend's shoulder to calm his struggling best friend. He knows how a Rauf feels.
“ Being nearby makes me want to tell you the truth, Ghal. But, when I remember the risk that will happen, I ponder my desire so that I can see it well – fine. In your opinion, is it possible that my destiny will be with him later?”, said Rauf who chuckled to himself with his words.
Ghaly looked softly at Rauf who was beginning to lose control of himself. Patiently, he calmed his best friend by hugging him so that he could feel the pain felt by his best friend.
“Perhaps, it'll just be a wishful thinking, Ghal. Because in the end, between me and him that will end without being prevented. And I'd rather end up with him who can achieve his dream of meeting the father he missed so much. How sad my life, Ghal”, is so sad that Rauf has possessed hearing.
“Tenace. Don't precede destiny, Rauf. God is still keeping a secret about what will happen in the future, but why is your mind so bad? You realize, your words just now are the same as not trusting Your Creator, Allah”, said Ghaly who made Rauf speechless.
It's hard for me to think positively now, Ghal.
*to protect Sara, let me be a loser hiding behind a mask.
At least, when Sara is ready to end it all, then I will feel relieved even though this body I have to sacrifice for her.
