Charles reached out and grabbed Ellie's gloved hand.
once again Ellie pulled him up, then out of reach when the man was able to balance himself with a stick.
"I'll take you to Bellfield" Ellie said. "Not too far from here. Are you willing to go home on your own from there?"
"I left my carriage at Bee and Thistle" Charles replied.
Ellie cleared her throat. "I'd appreciate it if you could behave politely and not attract attention. I may not be married, but I have a reputation to keep."
Charles glanced at Ellie. "It looks like I'm considered an ***, huh?"
"Indeed."
"And it looks like your relutation was already destroyed the moment I landed on top of you."
"Geez, you just fell off a tree!"
"Indeed, but you touched my feet with your hands. Without gloves."
"For a good cause."
"honestly, I think kissing you feels good, but you don't seem to agree."
Ellie's face looked pouted. "A random comment like this is what I mean. Despite knowing that I shouldn't care, I still care about people's views on me, and I have to stay in this place for the rest of my life."
"really?" charles asked "It's so sad."
"Not funny."
"I'm not kidding."
Ellie let out an impatient sigh. "Please, try to be polite once we get to Bellfield."
Charles propped up the body with a stick he was holding, then bowed politely. "I'll try not to disappoint a respectable woman."
"Stop it." Ellie grumbled as she pulled Charles' elbow to stand up. "You can fall again."
"Well, Miss Lyndon, it looks like you're starting to care about me."
The reaction Ellie gave was only a slow, vague grunt. With her hands clenched, Ellie started walking towards the city. Charles, with a wry smile on his lips, walked behind Ellie in limping steps. The woman walked faster than him so that as the distance between them grew wider, Charles was forced to call her.
Ellie turned.
Charles gave a smile that he hoped looked attractive.
"I can't follow you."
He reached out to beg but lost his balance. Ellie rushed over to help him stand up straight.
"You're so bad" Ellie grumbled as she continued to hold Charles' elbow.
"I can't walk fast."
Ellie took a breath. "here. You can hold on to my shoulder. I'll help you walk into town."
Charles grinned and placed his hand on Ellie's shoulder. The woman was small, but strong enough that Charles tried to drop the weight of her body over Ellie. Ellie's body stiffened, then heaved a loud sigh.
Slowly they moved towards the city. Charles felt himself leaning more and more towards Ellie. Either because of his sore legs or because of a hangover. Ellie was warm, strong, and gentle at the same time, and Charles really didn't care why he could feel all this - he just wanted to enjoy it while he could. every step of the way they made Ellie's side of the breast press against Charles's ribcage, and she found the sensation pleasurable.
"A beautiful day, isn't it?" charles asked, feeling like he had to make a conversation.
"Yes," Ellie replied as she balanced her somewhat unsteady body as it held onto Charles' weight.
"But it's almost night. Can you walk a little faster?"
"Even me," said Charles as he moved his hands rashly, "It is not that self-informed people who pretend to be limping merely to enjoy the attention of a beautiful woman."
"Don't move your hand! you're making us lose our balance."
Without knowing why, but perhaps because his consciousness had not yet recovered properly, Charles liked to hear our appellation coming out of the lips of the woman next to him. There is something about Miss Lyndon that makes Charles relieved that there is a woman who will be a worthy opponent, but more because of her attention, her mindset, and also of course her beauty. And his cynical sense of humor. The type of woman a man wants to have when he needs support.
Charles brought his face closer to Ellie's. "You smell good" said Charles
"What?" cry Ellie.
And this woman is very attractive to tease. Charles had to remember to add that to his list. It's always nice to be with someone who's easily seduced.
Charles has an innocent face. "You smell good" he said again.
"That's not what a gentleman deserves to say to a respectable woman" Ellie said rudely
"I'm drunk" Charles replied without regret as he shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know what I'm saying."
Ellie's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "I think you know exactly what you're saying."
"Well, Miss Lyndon, are you accusing me of trying to seduce you?"
It felt impossible, but it seemed that Charles saw the face of the woman beside him getting redder. He hoped to see the color of the woman's hair behind his large bonnet. His eyebrows were blond, and those eyebrows were raised strangely along with his met face.
"Don't twist my words" Ellie said
"You yourself twisted the words very cleverly, Miss Lyndon." When Ellie answered nothing, Charles added, "That's a compliment."
Ellie dragged her steps along the way, pulling Charles with her. "You really confuse me, My Lord."
Charles smiled, thinking that making Miss Lyndon confused was not a boring right. For a few minutes Charles was silent, and then, after they turned the corner, he asked "Are we almost there?"
"I think it's halfway again." Ellie squinted her eyes as she looked towards the horizon, seeing the sun sinking faster and faster. "Oh, my God, it's getting late. Papa will chop off my head."
"I swear on my father's grave..." Charles tried to speak seriously, but suddenly he hiccupped.
