Earl of Billington and Miss Lyndon

Earl of Billington and Miss Lyndon
Chapter 12

Ellie sighed, hoping she could have this conversation quietly. Not that it would be more helpful, he thought grimly, especially after the "impressive" way of entry". The butler will never forgive him. Ellie looked up and said, "May I sit down?"

"Ah, sorry, of course" Charles pointed at the sofa and Ellie sat down. "Do you want a cup of tea?" ask Charles.

"Yes, thank you." Ellie grabs the pot and starts pouring tea. Somehow it felt so intimate, pouring tea for this man in his own home. "Kriei?"

"Yes, no sugar."

Ellie smile. "I like my tea that way too."

Charles took a sip of his tea and observed Ellie from the edge of the cup. The woman was nervous. Charles could not blame him. This was no ordinary situation, and Charles had to admit that he was amazed by Ellie's bold demeanor. Watching Ellie finish her tea and saying, "By the way, your hair color isn't red."

Ellie choked on the tea she drank.

"What, yeah, you call it?" charles asked, raising his hand and rubbing his fingers in the air as if he wanted to find an answer. "Ah yes, strawberry blonde. It sounds weird enough to me."

"It's red" said Ellie stubbornly.

"No, no. Your hair is..."

"Red."

Charles' lips formed a smile of surrender. "All right, red."

Surprisingly, Ellie felt somewhat disappointed to hear Charles give up so quickly. Ellie always wanted her hair to be more exotic than just red. An unexpected gift from his Irish ancestry. The only good thing about his ancestors was how much it had become a constant nuisance to his father, who always felt nauseous when he remembered that there was little Catholic blood in his blood.

Ellie has always liked the thought of a mischievous Catholic being tucked into her family tree. He has always loved unusual thoughts, anything that breaks his watchful and tedious life routine. He stared at Billington, who was sitting gracefully in the chair in front of him.

This man, Ellie thought, could be classed as extraordinary. And so is the situation he faces now. Ellie smiled weakly, thinking she should be made of a heart stronger than steel. This man is very handsome, and his charm-well, his charm is not too deadly, but anyway, Ellie needs this conversation he can do with a clear mind, he said, as usual, he did everything.

Ellie cleared her throat. "Yes, so we're talking about..." Ellie frowning. What the hell were they talking about?

"Your hair, actually" Charles said casually.

Ellie felt her cheeks flushed. "Yes. Is correct. Hmmm."

Charles looked at Ellie with a look of pity and said. "It seems you don't want to say what made you consider my proposal."

Ellie stared hard. "What makes you think something's going on?"

"Your eyes exude despair."

Ellie couldn't even pretend that it wasn't true, because it was. "My father is getting married again next month" Ellie said at last, after a long sigh. "His engagement is the magic granny."

Charles' lips twitched slightly. "Is that bad?"

Ellie felt that Charles thought that he was overreacting. "I'm not kidding. Yesterday, he gave me two lists. The first list is additional tasks other than the ones I've been working on."

"Did he tell you to clean the chimney?" charles Goda

"Yes!" exciting Ellie. "Yes, and that's serious! And presumptuously he said that I ate too much when I said that my body would not fit in it."

"I think your size fits" murmured Charles. Thankfully, Ellie did not hear it. Charles didn't want to scare her any further. No, especially if you have just one step to write the name of the woman on the marriage certificate. "What's the other list?" ask Charles.

"The list of names of men I can match up with," Ellie replied in a disgusted tone.

"Am I written there?"

"Of course not. He just wrote the name of the guy he thought he wanted with me"

"Oh, my goodness."

Ellie's face was grim. "He looked down at me."

"I can't imagine anyone on that list."

"Some men are over sixty, one under sixteen, and one is insane"

Charles could not take it anymore. He laughed

"It's not funny!" exciting Ellie. "I haven't even mentioned the man who beat up his first wife."

Charles stopped laughing. "You're not going to marry the man who's going to hit you."

Ellie's lips opened, stunned. Charles sounds like he has it. How strange. "I make sure I won't. If I have to get married, then it's with the man of my choice. And I'm sorry I have to say this, My Lord, of all the options, you're the best."

"I feel flattered" said Charles

"I didn't originally think I'd have to drop out with you."

"I have money" Ellie continued. "It's enough to sustain my life for a while, at least until my sister and her husband come back from vacation."

"That's in time..."

"Three months," said Ellie finishing Charles' sentence. "Or maybe longer than that. Their baby has breathing problems, and according to the doctor warm weather can help him."

"I hope it's not too serious."

"Not at all," said Ellie, nodding to calm Charles down. "Then another problem arose. And I'm afraid I don't have a way out."

"I don't understand" said Charles.

"My lawyer won't cash me." Ellie quickly recounted the events of the day, not forgetting to remove the 'discussion' part between herself and the sky. Charles doesn't have to know everything. It is better not to say things that would make Charles think he was a little sane.

Charles sat quietly, listening while tapping his fingers. "What exactly do you want me to do for you?" charles asked when Ellie was done.

"To be honest, I want you to come forward to my lawyer's office on my behalf and ask him to cash out my funds" Ellie replied. "So I can stay in London and wait for my brother to come."

"And not marry me?" charles said with an understanding smile on his face.

"That can't happen, huh?"

Charles shakes.

"Maybe I can marry you, then you can help me get my money, then, after your inheritance is finally safe, we can cancel..." Ellie tried to sound reassuring, but her sentence grew weaker when she saw Charles shaking back.

"That scenario could lead to two problems" Charles said.

"Two?" repeat Ellie. He may be able to find a solution to a problem. But two? He doubted.

"My father's will specifically mentions the possibility that I had a fake marriage just to get my inheritance. So that if I cancel, all my property will fall into my cousin's hands."

Ellie's heart is slumping.

"Two" continued Charles. "Cancellation of marriage can only be done if we are not related."

Ellie gulps. "It doesn't seem like a problem."

Charles leaned his body, his eyes implying something Ellie did not understand. "Oh, huh?" tanyanya gently.

Ellie did not like to feel her stomach suddenly feel like it was tickled. This Earl is too handsome----too handsome for Ellie. "If we get married," said Ellie, suddenly wanted to change the subject immediately. "You should get that money for me. Can you do it? because if you don't, I don't want to marry you."

"I can suffice more than you need" Charles said without further ado.

"But the money is mine, and I worked hard to get it. I don't want to let my money rot in Tobbett's hands."

"Of course not," Guamm Charles, looks to try to hold back a smile.

"It's a matter of principle."

"And for you, the problem of principle is important. Didn't we?"

"Of course." Ellie stop. "But of course, the principle cannot make full. If it were, I wouldn't be here."

"alright. I'll get your money. It shouldn't be that hard."

"For you, yes," grumbled Ellie stiffly. "I didn't even have a chance to tell the man that I'm smarter than a goat."

Charles chuckles. "No need to worry, Miss Lyndon, I won't make the same mistake."

"And the money will still be mine" Ellie continued. "I know if we get married, all mine, even a little bit, will be yours, but I want a separate account using my name."

"All right."

"And you're gonna make sure to the bank that I have complete control over my account?"

"If you want it so."

Ellie looked at Charles suspiciously. Charles caught his gaze and said, "My money is more than enough, just in case we get married soon. I don't need your money."

Ellie breathed a sigh of relief. "good. Because I like to play stocks. I don't want to have to use your signature every time I make a transaction."

Charles gaped. "You play stock?"

"Yes, and I'm pretty smart, if you want to know. I made a lot of profit on sugar last year."

Charles smiled in disbelief. They'll fit in, Charles is sure of it. The time he will spend with his new wife will be a lot of fun, and it seems that Ellie can keep herself busy while he does his own business in London. The last thing she wanted was to bond with a woman who at any time of her work could only whine every time she was left behind.
