Earl of Billington and Miss Lyndon

Earl of Billington and Miss Lyndon
Chapter 01

Deliana Lyndon was busy with her own thoughts when Charles Wycombe, Earl of Billington, suddenly appeared in her life.

He was walking around with his lips whistling a happy note, while his mind was busy thinking about the estimated annual profit he would receive from the East & West sugar Company, whose shares he owned by a few percent, when he arrived he was startled by a man who fell from the sky and landed in front of him, right above his feet.

After being noticed, the man did not fall from the sky, but from a large oak tree. Ellie, who felt like her life had been so boring for the past year, almost wanted the man to have fallen from the sky. It must be more interesting than just falling from a tree.

Ellie pulled her left leg from under the man's shoulder, pulled her skirt past her ankle so it wouldn't get dirty, and then she leaned over.

"Sir?" ask Ellie. "are you okay?"

the guy just said, "Ow."

"Oh," muttered Ellie. "Is there a broken bone?"

the man did not say anything, only took a deep breath. Ellie retreated as the man's breath lunged at her nose.

"Geez," grumbled Ellie. "You're like you've just had a drink of wine "

"Wiski," replied the man. "Honored men always drink whiskey."

"But not this much, "bush Ellie. "It's only drunkards who drink alcohol to excess."

The man sat clearly with great difficulty, then shook his head as if he wanted to get rid of the fog that was in his brain.

"That's right," the man said as he waved his hand in the air, then frowned as the gesture made him dizzy. "I think I'm a little drunk."

Ellie decided to refrain from commenting further on it.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

The man scratched his reddish brown hair and blinked.

"My head hurts like it's been hit by a hammer."

"I don't think it's just the result of a fall" Ellie said

The man tried to get up, staggered, then sat back down.

"your tongue is sharp."

"Yes, I know," said Ellie with a wry smile. "that's why I'm still alone. Now, I can't see your wounds if I don't know where the pain lies."

Ellie puffed up to the tree above her. The nearest branch that was supposed to hold the man's weight was located four meters above Ellie.

"I can't believe you weren't hurt after falling from such a height."

The man waved a dismissive hand and tried to stand up again

"Yes, well, because we Wycombe are a bunch of strong people. It takes more than.. ouch!" He roared

Ellie tried her best not to sound arrogant when she said,

"ill? Pain? Or maybe a sprain?"

The man's brown eyes narrowed as he grabbed the tree trunk to maintain balance. "You're really a mean and cruel woman, Miss 'Whoever is Your Name', because you mock my suffering."

Ellie coughed to hide her gel taste.

"Mrs. 'Anyone, too, ' I can't take your word. I've asked you many times how you are, but you keep saying you're not hurt."

The man snorted like a child and sat leaning back.

"Lord 'Whoever', too, '" he murmured.

"alright. My lord," said Ellie, hoping that she would not offend this man too far. The royal family had far more power than a daughter of a servant priest, and this man could have hurt Ellie's life if she had chosen to do so. Eventually Ellie gave up on keeping her dress clean, then sat on the ground.

"Which ankle hurts, My Lord?"

The man pointed at his right ankle, then grimaced in pain as Ellie lifted it. After checking for a while, Ellie looked up and said in a polite tone as possible,

"Looks like I should take off your boots, My Lord. Can I do it?"

"I'd rather you have a sharp tongue" the man grumbled.

Ellie also prefers her like that. He smiled "Are you carrying a knife?"

The man snorted. "you think I'll let you hold a gun...?

"Alright, I think I can just pull it away."
