Sudden Exam

Hearing a young man who dared to speak to His Majesty out loud like that, people seemed to be in disbelief. They were shocked and considered the young man to be very disrespectful.

“Who is that brash young man? He really doesn't know himself. On an important day like this, he even arrived late. Now out loud he dares to ask the king to stop the show,” one minister whispered to another.

“Truly shameless. Wait a minute, we've never seen that kid before, right?” ask another minister. 

“True, we don't know who he is and which family he comes from,” added another.

The ministers kept gossiping. But they stopped when they realized that one of the king's guards was staring intently at them.  

However, who would have thought, the king who was thought to be angry even smiled proudly. 

“Good, stop all that,” the king's orders without asking the young man.

Hearing that, the officials present there were shocked. 

Sudden Exam

The king walked slowly a little closer towards those gathered youths. Meanwhile, Won Bin who is still with his revenge is back on his line, as well as Young. With an injured hand Young walked over and returned to his line.

Suddenly an officer ran towards the king carrying a large piece of paper, followed by another officer running around handing out papers to the youths. Each young man was given three papers. 

“I'm sure, you must have studied at home before you set foot into this palace. To that end, please answer the question given this,” the king's command made the youths astonished.

There were two questions attached to the paper, the answers of which were written in one paper for one problem. Now the young men are given one hour for each of the first two questions. The astonished youths could only look at each other in wonder. There were three papers given, but why were there only two questions.

Now they began to write their names on the ends of their respective papers. One by one they began to answer the question, not a few of them even began to collect the answer paper.

Young and Won Bin whose hands were injured were immediately treated by the palace healer. They were separated from the line, led and taken into the treatment room. They are given the privilege of answering questions despite being in treatment. 

All the young men finally solved the first 2 problems. They gathered their answers. However, there was a young man sitting at the very back of the row just kept looking at the paper. The young man was silent, not looking excited.

Suddenly at the same time, 

“Hey who's there?!” shouted an officer pointing at the cracks of the palace walls. 

The young girls who had access to peek were shocked, immediately running away scattering. Likewise with the palace ladies and servants of the officials, they ran and acted as if they knew nothing.

However, Princess Shin was not aware that the officer saw her. Capturing his gaze that was being bewitched by a charm. He continued to watch the young man in the back row.

“Hei!” an officer shouted back at him.

All the youths, officials, and the king looked in the direction the officer pointed. Including the young man he was watching.

Now their eyes meet each other. 

I saw the light in the darkness. 

The young man was looking at him from afar. 

His bright light radiated to the point of piercing a hollow soul.

The young man who was still holding his test paper, the young man he had been looking at since, was now really looking at him. 

Look how bright the moon was that day..

Princess Shin, she was stunned. Unknowingly, his servant came to draw Princess Shin's hand so that the king would not see her. Tear down all his long wishful thinking and daydreams.

Although the soul was torn to shreds by a terrifying time, that bright moon..

While running, Princess Shin left from there. Sometimes he looks back.

He didn't care if people were still looking at him. But most importantly, when he looked back again, it turned out that the young man he looked at was still looking at him.

That month…

As she ran, she lifted her dress up a little. He felt time was slow. 

“I didn't even see his face clearly,” gritted.

He just kept trying to remember the young man's face. Compiling all the remnants of his memory about the young man's face.

“Sweet once,” he said softly.

Rhythmically with the wind blowing, he ran and smiled simultaneously.

Why is the light so bright?

Returning to the youths, after they gathered the answer papers, they returned to their respective ranks. They wonder why there are only two questions. Is this one blank piece of paper to keep and take home or will there be other issues?

In fact, an officer was now standing in front of them holding a beautiful paper with floral motifs that smelled until the back row. On the paper there is now one question, which has been stamped with the stamp of statehood, which has the absolute meaning of the writing of the king. 

All those young men, they're glaring. So too with the officials. How is it possible that a simple question, which even an unlearned child can answer, becomes a topic to be brought up on the honor paper. 

“You are given 1 hour to rest and think about the answer. You guys can go anywhere. But after that, you have to go back, write it down on that blank paper, and collect it. The entire test result will be announced this afternoon, so no one can be late," the king's order was delivered by the officer.

The young men could only look at each other. Trying to confidently answer the last question of the king.

“Why should you rest first? We can answer this immediately. I was really very curious about my test results," the young men talked. 

The young men finally left the place. Some go home or walk in other places, some stay in place, and some are just a walk in the palace.  

Won Bin who was in one room with Young approached him. 

“A coward does not deserve to be placed in the palace,” he whispered to Young.

Young who heard that smiled, tickling with his sharp gaze. He who was holding the answer paper stood up from where he lay. 

He brought his body closer to Won Bin. She had a faint smile from the corner of her beautiful lips.

“Foolishness was never accepted in the palace,” replied Young while tidying up her robe and leaving the place.

Won Bin was silent on the spot. He clenched his hands tightly withstanding the emotions. He stared at Young's departure from the place.

Stay that way as you can. We never know what's in there. I know, you hate me so much. But deep down, I expect more of you. You learn with me, and embrace my shoulder. We'll laugh together and practice together. 

I'll hang in here for my dad. And you stay there, hold on for your father. I'm here with my duties, and you're there with yours. Hang in there as you can. Even if fate sends us to draw swords, I won't hate you. 

So, before I stop wishing, please stay that way as you please, and don't move forward again. So that I don't think about hating, until we hurt each other.
