"Daddy..... " Daniel ran to meet his daddy who had just entered the detention room delivered by two field officers.
Bayu lowered his body, welcoming his son with a hug. For a moment they both enjoy the moment to embrace each other after a long time never met.
Bayu did not expect today he would get a visit from Daniel as well.... Ayazh.
"Daddy.... Daddy why are you here?" ask Daniel.
Bayu looked into his son's eyes with a smile, "Daddy did something wrong, dear. That's why daddy has to be here." He rubbed his son's head that increasingly looks bigger and more similar to him.
"This is the place of the bad guys. Daddy's bad, too, huh?"
Not that it was angry but that question sounded funny in Bayu's ears. "Yes, Daniel. Daddy's done bad. That's why daddy has to take responsibility."
"If you're a big boy, you have to be a good guy so you don't look like daddy."
"Mama's in the hospital. He's not getting up yet, Daddy."
Bayu smiled bitterly. Prita became like that also because of her. Had he not taken Prita with him to J City, had Prita remained at home, had he not had to appear before him.
"Help daddy takes care of mama, yeah. Daddy can't see mom."
Daniel nodded.
Bayu held Daniel while walking towards Ayash. "I didn't know you were coming to visit me. But. thanks."
"Sit down first."
Bayu invites Ayash to sit on the bench that has been available there. They sit facing each other. While Daniel sat on Bayu's lap.
"Daniel, you go with the driver first yes, play in front." pinta Ayash.
Daniel nodded and came down from Bayu's lap and walked towards the driver who was still standing in front of the door.
After seeing Daniel leave, the two began to speak.
"Are you the one who reported your own father?"
Bayu nodded. This time he felt like he was being interrogated, like his days in a cage.
"Why?"
"Maybe because it's time."
"You don't see the impact of it."
Of course Bayu already knew the risks to be faced if he dismantled everything. He'll be away with his son and wife.
"Do I need to find a lawyer to release you?"
Bayu raised his head and stared deeply at his interlocutor. Ayaz.... The man who had always disturbed his mind, making him worry about losing his wife, today came to offer him help. Their relationship was never close to just greeting each other let alone giving help.
"Why do you want my freedom?"
If Bayu does not dare to face the law, he only needs to be silent and let his father do. The power his father had, his relationship with important officials, as much as any crime his family would commit could easily be covered up. Bayu was determined to dismantle all that because he already knew what would happen to him. And he's ready to face all the possibilities.
"Aren't you supposed to be happy I'm here? You'd be happier if I couldn't get out of here all my life."
"Yes, I should be happy. But, the truth is I still don't feel happy."
"I hate you so much that you want to know."
Bayu also knew the man hated him a long time ago. I don't know why in this life they hate each other.
"Why did you offer help?"
Ayash was silent for a moment, "I don't want the children especially Daniel to disrespect you in the future for having a father who was once imprisoned."
"In reality, I am such a person. If they hate me, I should hate them."
"I can't change my past. You don't have to bother defending me."
"Isn't it natural for a family to stand up for its family members, no matter who they are? I think if Prita were here, she'd do the same to me."
Ayash's right. Bayu is like that too. Wishing her father could change and return to living a normal life. But his father was too afraid to start something new. He would rather finish off his family than abandon his ambitions.
"Whether you'll be happy to hear it or not, I want to tell you something."
Bayu watched carefully what Ayash was about to say.
"I want to move Prita to City S."
Bayu still silent giving no response.
"Don't misunderstand me, yeah. I'm doing this for the kids."
"I've got a lot of work there, can't every time come here to bring the kids."
"I have to leave Dean and Livy at home."
Bayu chuckled, "Even if you take her while I'm still here, without my permission, I won't even know what you're going to do to her."
"If you wanted to go back to her, I wouldn't know either."
"I'm not that kind of person even though I could've done it."
"My priority is my children."
Ayash is truly an amazing person. Perhaps in this world there is only one out of a million angel-hearted humans like that. Being able to be with Prita after a fight with someone like her is a miracle of almost impossible things to happen. If he had no weaknesses, there was no way Prita would want to leave such a man.
"Bring him back there" said Bayu. Indeed Prita is better to be in the City S. City J life is very heavy, especially if people recognize it as part of the Bagaskara family which may currently be the family most hated by many people.
"Sorry, Sir. The time of his visit is over" said one of the prison guards who had just approached them.
Inevitably the two had to end their very short meeting.
"Ah, yes, sir. Please wait a minute. I'll get my son to meet his father first before coming home. Just for a second."
Ayash hurriedly ran outside to look for Daniel. Bayu can only be glued to see the behavior of the person in his place.
"Who's meeting you this time, sir?" ask the prison guard. Bayu is quite familiar with the officers there. Moreover, many important people came to visit him.
"He... my friend." he said softly.
"You have a lot of friends and attention. Usually, if you hear news of someone going to jail, immediately his friends disappear. Different from your story."
Bayu just smiled. He wouldn't be this kind of treatment if he didn't know Prita. The woman who took him in a life surrounded full of good people.
"Daddy.... " Daniel ran back to his father.
Bayu and Daniel embrace. Bayu almost cried, soon he could no longer see his son. He was content to embrace and kiss his son. He hopes Daniel can grow up with an outpouring of affection from many people, unlike his unpleasant childhood.
"So good boy, yeah. And take care of mama." said Bayu before taking off his arms and following the warden back into custody.
"I'll send my lawyer to help you" Ayash exclaimed.
Bayu replied with a smile.
"Daddy....!" exclaim Daniel.
The boy seemed to shed tears when he saw his father had to go back into custody. Mayu could only smile at him.
Meanwhile, Daniel wept even more as he could no longer see his father who had gone inside. Ayash hugged her, trying to calm Daniel down so as not to cry.
"Papa's gonna help your daddy get home soon, yeah. Don't cry anymore."
Daniel was still crying as much as he could, being the subject of attention from some of the people who were also there making visits. It is sad to see a family separated by iron bars. However, violations of the law must still be processed legally.
NB: don't ngarep men like Ayash, I don't think there is. It's just in the story. Later if you wait for such a type, it could be a lifetime of 😅
