Chapter 6: The First Step

After going to the Workers Association to take the quests he was interested in obtaining some Inar, Akuji's level rose by 1 thanks to the experience points brought by the completion of those quests. .

Buying some food that makes him interested in filling the hunger level as well as some extra food, Akuji finally leaves the city after showing his identity card to the gatekeeper.

Looking at the plain that stretched out before him, Akuji's eyes slightly turned his head as if sensing some gazes but getting nothing and immediately returned to what things were keeping him focused. The Elementalist Skill Tree.

Since the job he took at the Workers Association did not require any combat skills, Akuji had not seen the Elementalist Skill Tree in the slightest and now was the time to check it out.

[Tier 1 – Elemental Arrow (Active) – All Weapons

Shoot a magic arrow that contains elemental power in the specified direction. The magic arrow would pierce through the entire object that was in its path, causing magic damage to the object it occupied before disappearing.

[Tier 1 – Magic Flare (Active) – All Weapons

Locking one target, causing random elemental magic damage to the target and causing bad status related to the element inflicted. If the target already has a bad status, the damage of the given element will increase and correspond to the type of bad status element of the target.

[Tier 1 – Magic Mastery (Passive) – Grimore/Magic Device

Improves Health and Mana. It also increases the Base Attack bit from the Attack weapon and Magic Attack value when using Grimore or Magic Device as the primary weapon]

[Tier 1 – Mana Recharge (Active) – All Weapons

Gather the forces of nature around to recover a little mana. The effects of Mobile Cast did not apply to this skill.

Cooldown: 30 seconds.

Stamina Cost: 10% Stamina]

[Tier 1 – Cut Spell (Active) – All Weapons

Forcibly cutting the skill that was in progress. Increase the speed of motion for a moment after cutting the skill. When cutting a skill that has been released but not yet fully completed, the strength of the skill will decrease.

Cooldown: 2 seconds.

Stamina Cost: 5% Stamina]

It was an entire Tier 1 Skill in the Elementalist Skill Tree that Akuji could learn from. Since most of the terms of use are for all weapons, grimore and magic devices, most weapons ‘ according’ certainly has its own bonus for each Skill in this Skill Tree. Call it like increasing the damage of the Elemental Arrow or shortening the cast time of the Mana Recharge.

Moreover, this Skill Tree had one skill that most players would pursue, Cut Spell. Even for melee attackers, this skill is still useful because it can cut the final movement of other skills to save themselves or continue the combo.

Although they also have to learn the previous skill because in Vivid, players must learn the previous skill in the same branch to be able to learn the next skill. And whether it was a coincidence or not, the skill before Cut Spell, Mana Recharge itself was also very important under certain circumstances.

After looking for a few moments, Akuji increased the Magic Mastery to the maximum level, Level 5 which ate up his 10 skill points since he would still use the grimore or perhaps magic device as the main weapon. After which, he finally cast a doubtful glance between the Elemental Arrow or the Magic Flare ever since the two Skills were on different branches which allowed him to immediately learn and use. Both were attack Skills, but one was an area Skill (though small) while the other was a single target.

“It seems like it is better to learn the Elemental Arrow for now,” murmured Akuji before throwing the last 2 skill points he had to learn the Elemental Arrow.

In addition to the level increase that gives 2 stat points and 1 skill point, Akuji knows that in every multiple of five levels players will also get an increase in all stat of 1 and 1 additional skill point. So, he would only attempt to raise his level and award points for the Magic Flare later on.

Merely, Akuji knew that it would not be easy once he looked around. With the sheer number of players, the number of monsters he might find around the city would not be too many, nor would quests since experience points were not their main points. Akuji had to walk further into the forest.

... The monster's voice finally rang out in Akuji's ears, making him walk more slowly as he approached the direction where the sound was coming from. In front of his eyes, Akuji saw a goblin with a rusty sword in hand doing something with the ground in front of him.

Together with the whistling Elemental Arrow, Akuji activated Swift Run, running towards the goblin who was shocked at his arrival. Making blood splash out from the goblin's body, it hit the Elemental Arrow Akuji before furiously raising the sword in his hand with a sharp screech.

The goblin moved quickly, immediately closing the distance with Akuji and attacking him with a sword. But as if he did not feel any significant pain, Akuji simply kicked the goblin's stomach before unleashing a basic attack that precisely kept hitting the goblin.

Admittedly, the goblin itself was fast, but not faster than the target he had to keep away during the previous beginner quest.

Although, Akuji was indeed quite surprised at the beginning because the reason he himself chose to go out was to be able to immediately follow up on his attack since the goblin was beyond the range of his basic attack, he said, but that has led to him being attacked again.

“Kieeekkkkk!” shouted the angry goblin. Lifting his sword high before swinging powerfully, unleashing a wave of attacks that lead to Akuji and unfortunately Akuji was not fast enough to be able to dodge the attack.

“Keuh,” growled Akuji endured the pain.

Even for players with a normal sensitivity setting, which is only about 10-20% of the pain, the attack is enough to make them groan in pain. However, for Akuji whose entire level of sensitivity was at the maximum level, no one would be able to imagine what kind of pain he was suffering from.

Regretted? Maybe that is what others will think but not with Akuji. He only smiled slightly even though the attack he had just received was extremely painful and took more than half of his health.

Not because he's the kind of person who enjoys pain or something like that, but because now he knows that his choice is right. With this pain Akuji felt that he would be able to understand what death was, or at least how the door of death was since he would not actually die.

But is that all?

Seeing the state of Akuji, the goblin immediately ran to give another attack but the goblin was too late. With a solid awareness, Akuji endured the pain he was in and stepped back while attacking the goblin with a basic attack.

Even if Akuji was happy that he had found one door, it did not mean that he would happily fall here. Since Vivid has a system where players can only die once every game time day, or about twice a day in real time. And in addition to the time losses that players would experience, death would also make their experience points reduced.

Akuji wasn't afraid that his level would drop, but still, he didn't want that one life to be wasted here.

Akuji has found one door but of course he is not satisfied, he just thinks to be able to find another one soon. Right, he might be greedy for wanting to know not just one but many other doors, but what could he do for it? Nothing since greed is a basic human instinct.

So, just sorry for that goblin but Akuji doesn't want this to end soon ...

Completing the Elemental Arrow cast, the magic arrow flew quickly and, piercing the final health that the goblin had.
