Chapter 19: The Red Elves

“Come go.” Pull Nuk, awakening Vera from the surprise that Akuji gave her as she led Vera away from the cat's gaze.

 

Why is the cat targeting Akuji more than Nuk or Vera? Simply put, it was because he felt that the two of them were no more dangerous than Akuji. Akuji's movements may not be much in sight but, the cat's attention is immediately turned to him once Yaka dies explaining everything.

Seeing Akuji madly running towards the cat, he wondered just how much the level of the young man had actually been since he had hidden it. It was not that Nuk was not at all surprised by Akuji's action of taking the two out, he could only quickly find the answer through Akuji's first question.

 

By getting them out of the party, even if Akuji dies the cat's attention won't be directed directly at them. And with them themselves having the aggro of the cat for having attacked it, the cat itself will still be looking for them and in this section the Playing Dead comes in handy.
