The tension of the two stopped when they heard a coughing sound that was deliberately near the entrance.
"Sorry Mama went straight in, just knocking on the door no one heard her looks." Miss Devi, mama Jonathan has been standing at the door for quite a while. He heard the two debates.
"What's up, Ma?" jonathan asked after trying to ease his emotions by rubbing his face with both palms.
"You stopped by, Mama hasn't been to the office in a long time, have you?" Mama slowly advanced, her eyes looking at Jamilah who had sat back down and looked down deeply.
"You don't want to know your assistant, Jo?" mama asked her youngest son.
"This is called Jamilah." Jonathan introduced Jamilah. He is still upset and angry with Jamilah's resignation.
"Good day, Mom." Let's just nod politely.
"You're so young, what age?" Mama watched Jamilah from top to bottom. Jamilah's tiny body plus round eyes with a joke highlight, adding a childish effect on Jamilah.
"My age is 19, ma'am."
"Thank God, I thought Jonathan was hiring minors, but why didn't you go to school?"
"Please be an orphan. His mother died not long ago." Jonathan answered.
"Ow, I'm sorry, Jamilah."
"It's okay, Mom."
Mama turned her eyes towards Jonathan. His youngest son looked very wrinkled. Totally different from his everyday cheerful.
"See, I'd like to talk to my son for a minute. You wait outside for a second ain't nothing." Just nod and walk out of the room.
"What else, Ma?" jonathan asked pensively after his mother just sat quietly looking at him with a probing look.
"Why you?"
"I why? I'm fine," Jonathan said still in a high tone. The emotions in his heart had still not subsided.
"Obviously you're not doing well, Jo. Mama had heard earlier, your assistant was willing to resign. Then why do you look so angry? is there any work he has not done yet? or does he still have a dependant to settle?"
Jonathan was silent, he pondered over his discussion with Jamilah earlier. There is nothing wrong with employees wanting to resign, but why is he so angry?
"Jo, do you like him?" ask Mama softly.
"Ga." Jonathan shook his head. He may fall in love with a girl whose body shape is not even visible at all.
The women around him who always adored him even had a near-perfect appearance. Jamilah? very far away, his body was not much different from a Junior High child.
"Yes, my mom just asked. If you really don't like Jamilah, let him look for fortune elsewhere. It's not good that you hold people for no apparent reason, be it at work or in personal relationships."
Jonathan was still silent and contemplating in his room, after his mother came back home. It was Jamilah who had returned to his place.
The atmosphere was very awkward between the two of them. Jonathan who is still disappointed, Jamilah who is also still upset because he was snapped without knowing what was wrong.
"Excuse me, sir can I have my phone back?"
"Make what?"
"I want to go home."
Jonathan glanced at his wrist, it turned out that the time to go home from work was already over an hour ago. Slowly Jonathan handed him a cell phone and a piece of paper that he had signed.
"Have you agreed to my resignation?" jamilah asked surprised not to think. Jonathan did not reply he was still staring at the paper Jamilah was holding.
"Then I don't have to come back tomorrow, do you?" ask Jamilah. His eyes grew bigger and glowed funny.
"Are you happy you're not working with me anymore?" ask Jonathan cynically. He felt happy to be free from it.
"Not."
"Here you go, go home," exorcised Jonathan.
"Sorry, I don't mean sepe---"
"Get out!" jonathan then turned his chair back to Jamilah.
"sorry. Thank you, Mr. Jonathan has been good as long as I work here .. I say goodbye." Jamilah was still waiting for a response from Jonathan, but his boss was still silent. Slowly he turned around and left.
