Hanum felt tired of what had happened in his life these past few months. Every day is full of tension and competition. He felt he had lost his identity, in order to attract the attention of others who did not necessarily see him.
The loneliness reminded him of the home where foster mothers and foster siblings accept him as he is.
Hanum took a heavy breath and then exhaled it loose. He took his cell phone and searched for the number of Anita's mother, his foster parents in the orphanage.
Repeatedly she pressed her foster mom's number, but it was always connected to the voice box service. Hanum opened the short green message. He was even more confused when he saw his message to Mother Anita which he sent three days ago was completely unread.
A week ago he sent proof of transfer of results from his work as a model of skin care products. Anita's mother thanked her and prayed for her and asked her when she came home.
"It's over, Mba." The voice of the online taxi driver he was riding blew his daydream.
"Ah, yes. Thank you, sir," said Hanum, handing him a red note.
"Return, Mba?" ask the taxi driver online when Hanum got out of the car.
"You have to do it, for me" said Hanum.
Hanum's income during being a skin care model is almost equivalent to the salary of the Manager in Alex's office, even though the product has not been officially marketed.
Hanum gave more than half of his income to Mother Anita for the needs of his younger siblings. The rest he uses to buy clothes, shoes and make up to support his needs as a rising model. Mbok Jum and Tini who always help him and become the closest friends while at Alex's house, he secretly always gives bonuses without the knowledge of Alex's family.
"Is there a problem, Num?" asked Caroline who had been watching herself.
"My mother in the village was hard to contact. I sent you a message three days ago unread" Hanum lamented. His eyes did not come off his phone screen.
"You want to go back to your village?" tawar Caroline's.
"Can I?" Hanum looked at Caroline expectantly. He understood that his schedule one month ahead was very tight.
"May, parents should take precedence. You're also not calm if you keep thinking."
"Yes, it's not usually like this."
"When do you want to go home? tomorrow?" Hanum nodded, "Okay then. All our schedules are delayed first, but don't be long, Num. Our grand launching is soon."
...❤...
Over and over Hanum glanced at Alex who seemed to be sitting quietly facing the file on his desk. She wanted to ask permission to return home, but was confused how to convey it to her husband.
The reason for what he said was because Alex and his family knew he was an orphan and had no relatives. It's true, but he hasn't told me if he is, one of Papa Alex's children. He just does not want if his actions are embarrassing, impacting his family in the orphanage.
"What are you talking about?" ask Alex suddenly. His head was still fixed on the sheet on the table. Hanum swallowed her saliva, feeling that her husband had a thousand eyes that could watch the surroundings without having to look at the person.
Hanum walked up to Alex's desk and stood in front of her, "Anu, can I not get out of town?" ask carefully.
Alex raised his head, his forehead slightly wrinkled, "What's the deal, who's the same, how long?" Alex nodded at him with a series of questions.
"Mmm, back home, alone .. maybe three days." Hanum bit his lip fretting waiting for Alex to answer.
"Why sudden?"
Hanum took a deep breath, "It looks like my mother is sick."
"Aren't you an orphan?" Alex squinted his eyes.
"Yes right. I mean the mother of the parlor," said Hanum slowly.
"Nirmala's orphanage?" guess Alex.
There was only one orphanage in Hanum's hometown area and it belonged to Alex's family. Alex himself had previously recognized Hanum, the girl who messed up his basketball game while at SMU. But he did not expect that Hanum was one of the children of the orphanage owned by his father.
Hanum nodded slowly. There is no point in lying anymore, what happens later let it happen.
"Why don't you ever tell a story?" Alex stood up from his seat.
"I don't think it's important." Hanum shrugged his shoulders.
"Sorry," said Hanum quickly.
"What's wrong with Anita's mother?"
"I also don't know, from noon on the phone not connecting, the message has not been read for three days," Hanum lamented, his heart felt a little light after opening to her husband, "I'm worried." Hanum started sobbing.
"Is there someone else there you can call?" Hanum shook his head slowly.
In the house only Mother Anita who holds a mobile phone. While Hanum used to be too careless with the neighbors around.
"Tomorrow morning we leave" said Alex.
"I can go alone, Mas Alex does not need to bother coming later to disrupt the work."
"You go by yourself, make me bother" Alex said as he climbed into bed.
Hanum followed in her husband's footsteps and climbed up on the side of the bed next to her. Alex tilted his body, he looked at Hanum with a faint smile on his lips.
"Why?" asked Hanum blushed.
"Given that I'm in a nursing home there's a child whose age is not much different from Jonathan, is that you?"
Hanum shook his head in confusion, as he was completely unsure of Alex's question.
"When I was in sixth grade, Mama gave all my comic books to the orphanage. Said there was a daughter who was just in the Elementary School, whining to Mother Anita to buy a reading book."
"At that time there was only one child who had just entered SD, the other was still a toddler. I had once taken a delivery of a box of my reading books, because I also had time to refuse to release my favorite collection. Jonathan didn't let me touch those books, but when I saw the little girl jumping around happily seeing what I was carrying, I finally declared all mine to be hers."
Hanum raised his eyes, "The big box that Ale wrote, it's a Dragon ball comic?" Alex nodded, "Doremon?" Alex nodded back, "Sinchan, Asterix, Donald Duck?" Alex nodded and laughed.
"Yes, is that really you?" ask Alex.
"He ... uh," said Hanum smiling shyly, "So it's all Mas Alex's?" Hanum did not expect it turned out that the reading book that always accompanied him all night, belonged to the man he always craved. Apparently the book first accompanied and embraced him than the real owner.
"Yes, is there a book?"
"Massiii. I live in a room, still in the same box," Hanum said proudly.
"The little boy used to be really happy until I was kissed repeatedly" Alex said with a smile that implied something.
