The sound of crowing chickens sounded earthy in the alley at the end of which is a stretch of river water. It was still very early in the morning, the sound of fishing boats was still heard at the end of the alley.

Nia...," the weak voice of Bu Rani was heard from inside the narrow bedroom measuring 3 X 4 meters. A simple bedroom whose walls are made of planks and underneath is a wooden floor built on a stretch of river water.

Ms. Rani tried to get up from her small bed. His throat when he woke up felt dry. But the usual drinking water cup filled with water and located next to it was already empty.

"Uhuk-uhuk," Rani coughed twice. "Uhuk-uhuk," twice more.

Since her husband, aka her father Nia, died a year ago, Ms. Rani has become very sick. Though previously his body was very strong and resilient. However, due to the sadness left by her beloved husband, her body dropped and easily sick.

Half a year ago Bu Rani was forced to call to Medan, to the house of Om Vishnu to call his daughter home, because she was no longer able to take care of herself who was often sickly.

By force, Nia paid a farewell to Ardian, Om Vishnu, and Aunt Siska who for several years had so well received it in their home. Even during his stay there, all the needs of college and daily needs of Nia are filled with Om Vishnu family without lacking anything.

Although in Ardian's heart was very sad Nia wanted to return to Tanjungbalai for an indefinite time, but Ardian had to give up. Because the service of a daughter to her mother must be more important than the lessons on campus or the relationship with the man she loves.

For several years living hitchhiking at Ardian's house, Nia and Ardian's relationship was already very familiar. They love each other. But the distance that separated the two.during half a year, making Ardian who felt lonely left Nia, slowly began to look for a cure from his loneliness.

Nia, who was bathing in the bathroom, hurriedly came out of there after she was covered and wearing a house outfit in the form of T-shirts and jeans.

With the towel still wrapped around her long hair wet from shampooing, Nia walked hurriedly towards the bedroom of Bu Rani who was also her bedroom.

"Yes, Mom, just a second," Nia walked over while answering Bu Rani's call. After opening the room door and arriving inside, he immediately walked over to his mother's bed. "Why, Mom?" tanyanya gently.

"Mom's cup is empty, Nia. Thirsty mom. Uhuk-uhuk," coughing again while holding the throat.

"Oh, sorry, Mom. Nia forgot to get Mom some water to drink. Thought Nia, I didn't get up so quickly so Nia took a shower first," replied Nia then took the cup that was beside Bu Rani's bed. "Just a minute, ma'am," he said, turning around.

Ms. Rani tried to smile. Her lips looked pale and her once-filled face now looked tapered. Her two eyes, which were once still there, always radiated strength and cheer, now looked weak and dim.

Even so, in his heart was grateful for having a beautiful daughter who was very devoted like Nia. The only child who is his hope.

In the past, he hoped that Nia would be able to become a successful person after college, then help the family economy and improve their social status. But since her husband died, Ms. Rani did not expect Nia to be a successful person who raised the family. The important thing for him now is that Nia can live well later. You can find a partner who loves and loves you with all your heart.

Thus, Ms. Rani felt no need to worry anymore if at any time she was called to face the Powerful Given the condition of her body is now so weak, at any time something unexpected can happen.

Nia went back in with a cup of water in her hand A blue plastic cup with an ear-shaped handle on the side.

"Here, Mom, the water," Nia walked over to Bu Rani and placed the drinking cup beside her mother. His mother sat down first before drinking water into his throat.

Ms. Rani drank the water in the cup in a hurry, as if she was already very thirsty. "Uhuk-uhuk-uhuk-uhuk," he coughed in between drinks.

"Slow down, ma'am," said Nia as she patted her mother's shoulders slowly.

"Yes, Nia," Bu Rani smiled with relief after finishing the cup. He leaned his body on the wall of the board where his bed was stuck there.

"Mom want some more breakfast today? Or the other one? Let Nia cook now," asked Nia while sitting on the edge of the bed, next to her mother.

"No, Nia, I'm going to the bathroom. Mom's stomach doesn't taste good."

"Oh, yes, ma'am, let Nia come to Mom now. So Nia helped me take a shower."

"It's okay, Nia. You just come to the bathroom, let me try to shower myself. I have to study hard, I can't trouble you every day."

"Don't say that, Mom," Nia said in a sad tone. "This is Nia's duty as a child. It used to be Nia baby, Mother also bathed Nia every day. Cooking, taking care of all Nia's needs. Now, Nia can only repay a little."

Miss Rani smiled again. This time his smile was already somewhat bright, no longer as grim as before. Finding Nia's words like that, her heart felt relieved.

Nia helped her mother get out of bed, after which with both hands she grabbed Bu Rani.

Ms. Rani who has now risen from the bed, one hand wrapped around her daughter's neck, while the other placed Nia on her own wrist so that they are in a comfortable position to walk.

A dozen steps Nia beat Bu Rani until they arrived in front of the bathroom. Nia picked up a nearby stool, put it in the bathroom until Bu Rani could sit there.

"Nia help Mom, " said Nia while closing the bathroom door.

With deft movements like a professional nurse in large hospitals, Nia began to bathe Bu Rani. Dipper by the dipper of water he took from the bath, poured gently and lovingly into the body of his mother.
