Chapter 18
Nia has adjusted to campus for a month. One month he became a college boy. A month also Ardian with Nia went home together with a car driven by Ardian.
A month of college, Ardian seemed busy with his college friends on campus who did not stop caring for him both men and women. Ardian did not realize, that for a month Nia was also busy with her new gang, her classmate named Hansen.
Nia felt comfortable just being next to Hansen. Moreover, Hansen is also very understanding of himself, smart to entertain him with sweet words, polite but familiar, caring, loving, and attentive.
During their month-long friendship on campus, Nia and Hansen go back and forth to eat together near the campus gate. Nia's promise, as if she had been kept. Didn't disappoint Hansen.
However, something still felt in the heart of the man. Nia lives with Ardian, her childhood friend. Even though the house was just a ride and there were other residents, Hansen's heart remained unsettled. He always pretended to look down not knowing Nia every time Ardian finished college and went to class Nia picked the girl home. Hansen pretended not to know Ardian, but the corner of his eye was secretly always stealing the eyes of the movements of Ardian and Nia when they wanted to go home together.
He noticed, sometimes Ardian took Nia's hand, sometimes not. She held Nia's hand as she felt that the girl was a bit slow to tidy up her things. It was dragged like fast, so that the girl would seem to rush to grab her bag while waving at Hansen.
When viewed from the way he treated Nia, Hansen felt that Ardian was not a man who fully cared or loved Nia. Even sometimes, Hansen felt like Ardian was burdened to take the girl to go home from college even with friends.
Somehow does Nia herself feel for Ardian? Nia's story, Ardian is her childhood friend in her hometown. He was invited into Ardian's house and financed a lecture by his father Ardian. His father Ardian was an excellent old neighbor in his hometown first. So, Nia and Ardian are just a couple of childhood friends aka old friends who help each other? Is there no other? That's what always bothered Hansen's mind and heart.
One afternoon after college, Ardian said he couldn't go home with Nia. He had Nia hail a taxi online only, as Ardian still had to go to his friend's house, doing group chores.
“Can you call a taxi online?” ask Ardian who stopped by Nia's class after that lecture.
Nia nodded. “Can, Ardi,” the answer is short. She felt Ardian's attitude towards her lately was rather cold and distant. Perhaps he returns to his old nature, especially with a simple girl like himself and prefers to spend time with his friends who are as bad as him.
Nia once saw Ardian hugging the back of a college friend while on campus. Ardian tepergok Nia is embracing the shoulder of the girl who looks beautiful and sexy. The girl laughed spoiled. When Nia noticed him, Ardian hurriedly removed his embrace and threw away his face. Does Ardian have a new trailer? think Nia. No wonder the young man seemed to ignore it both on campus and at home.
Om Vishnu and Aunt Siska to the astonishment of the change in attitude of those who returned away. Especially Bik Aini. Before, they seemed to get along and familiar.
Nia looked at Ardian's back that disappeared behind the classroom door. Immediately, he retrieved his android phone from the bag, intending to call an online taxi to drive him home.
Looking at the online taxi application that Nia opened, Hansen immediately interrupted, “You want to go home by taxi?” tanyakanya.
“Iya, Hansen,” replied Nia.
“Nevent gone, Nia. Let me take you home. I happened to have, kok!” tawar Hansen's.
Nia frowned, petting Hansen's offer.
“Come on, just take my car, I'll take you to your house, uh I mean Om Vishnu's house that you ride. Let me know where you live. Other times, we have the need for college to visit each other, right?” sure Hansen.
Feeling that there was no harm in rejecting Hansen's offer and kindness, Nia nodded. “Okey,” said.
Nia walks side by side with Hansen who seems happy his offer was accepted by the girl. This was an opportunity he had been waiting for a long time, to be with the girl for longer outside than on campus.
They continued to walk side by side, down the stairs, stepping into the parking lot.
“Ohiya, we go straight home?” ask Hansen.
“Means?” ask Nia back.
“I mean, we go to the bookstore first? Mumpung Ardian didn't pick you up, so we can take a walk to the bookstore today. Your hobby is reading books, right, Nia?” guess it.
Nia smiling. Just know Hansen about himself. The guy seemed to understand his wish. Indeed, Nia had long wanted to go to the bookstore, buy some good novel books and read them in the room like her hobby at home first, borrow a book from the school library and read it until it runs out.
During her time with Ardian, Nia did not dare to express her desire to go to the bookstore because she knew Ardian was not a hobby of reading let alone a novel book. Ardian just likes to walk and wander outside the house.
Nia nodded. “Iya, we go to the bookstore first, but it's still day,” agree Nia.
He thought, even getting home quickly there was nothing to do but study and learn. Then after getting bored he would watch television in his room.
Ardian, since college began, seemed busy going out of the house continuously after college. There are so many activities with his friends, both college friends and friends he knows in other places, men and women. Nia's presence in the house seemed to be forgotten by him. Therefore, Nia felt lonely in the big house of Om Vishnu.
Hansen turned his car out of the campus gate. The highway to the big bookstore in Medan. A very complete and famous bookstore, spread across several malls and several places in the city of Medan.
Hansen chose to stop at the bookstore on Gajah Mada Street. Nia got out of the car with Hansen and entered the bookstore.
On the 1st floor was a pile of novel books and other books of various topics. The books are priced cheaply.
Hansen invited Nia up to the 2nd floor, where a complete arrangement of all kinds of books of various titles and colors from various topics. School textbooks, religion, science, computers, fiction, history, motivation, tips, inspirational stories, cergam, comics, magazines, tabloids, newspapers, and more.
Nia seemed to be in heaven while inside that large and complete bookstore. In amazement, he walked around every corner of the store, browsed through almost all the books and picked up a few titles that struck his heart.
There, Nia felt very comfortable and at home. Even he did not realize, because he was engrossed in looking around and choosing a book he liked, he forgot time.
Hansen also picked out some of the books he liked and paid for them at the cashier along with some of the novels Nia had bought.
“I paid for myself,” said Nia was about to open her bag when Hansen took her wallet out of her pants pocket, intending to pay off the purchase bon at the cashier for the purchase of her book and Nia's book.
“No need, Nia, let me all pay,” Hansen prevents Nia from getting her wallet out of the bag.
Before Nia could find her wallet placed in a college bag, Hansen had paid off the purchase bond at the cashier.
“Thank you, Hansen,” said Nia was a bit bad because the total of 5 novel books she bought was quite expensive.
“Nothing, Nia. I'm happy to accompany you for a walk. I'm also happy today to be able to pick a book with you in a place we both love,” Hansen said. “Thank you for coming with me too,” he said.
After which, Nia and Hansen walked down the stairs, descending back down to the 1st floor. They walked to the exit and got Hansen's car. The man opened the door for Nia and then he walked around and opened the door for himself.
