The three friends - Jayak, Mado, and Kunta - stand in the middle of a metropolis they never imagined. Buildings loomed high, surpassing the top of mountains in their villages. Its streets were filled with fast-moving vehicles, with noisy sounds echoing in their ears. The sunlight shining down on the city created a glint on the glass of tall buildings, as if the entire city was glowing.
Jayak, with his long unraveling hair and sharp eyes, stared at one of the skyscrapers. His eyes exuded the spirit of a swordsman who saw a new challenge. "Did you guys see that?" he said with a passionate tone. "It's like a mountain, but it's made of stone and glass. Isn't that the perfect challenge for a swordsman like me?"
Mado, who always looked calm with her simple robe and the book that had always been in her hands, took a deep breath. He looked at Jayak with his eyebrows clinging, "Jayak, it's not a mountain. It is home to many people. A place called an apartment or a hotel."
Kunta, with her clumsy smile, scratched her bald head, "But how can we stay there? We don't have money from this age."
Before their conversation continued, Jayak, who was already burning with spirit, began to approach the skyscraper. With quick steps, he began to climb the walls of the building using small cracks as handles. The surrounding people stopped and stared in awe and confusion.
Mado shouted, "Jayak! Get down from there!"
But Jayak, with his big smile, replied, "This challenge I'm going to give up, Mado! I will conquer this mountain!"
Kunta, with an anxious expression, patted his thumping left chest, "For the gods, what is he doing?"
Mado, with a serious expression, looked at the building. Then with quick steps, he approached a security guard standing at the door of the building. "Sorry, brother. My friend, he doesn't understand. Can you forgive him?"
The security guard, with furrowed brows, looked up and saw Jayak who had now reached the tenth floor. "He has to get off, or I'll call the police!"
With a panicked move, Mado shouted, "Jayak! Down now!"
From a distance, Jayak saw a growing crowd of people below him. He hesitated for a moment, staring down with sweat drenching his face. Then, carefully, he began to descend the building, landing safely on the ground.
Kunta, with widened eyes, patted Jayak on the back, "You're really crazy! You know that?"
Jayak, smiling widely with a breath of air, replied, "That was one of my best adventures."
Mado clenched her book tightly, "You really have to stop doing such crazy things. We're here to find a way back, not a problem."
Jayak shrugged, "At least I tried."
The three, with mixed feelings of anger, relief, and confusion, walked away from the building, looking for a place they could make a temporary home in this strange world.
With the sun starting to soar, the three walked across the city streets filled with busy people towards his work. The city air feels different; the smell of gasoline mixes with the aroma of coffee from cafes along the way, while the swish of vehicles makes a constant background noise.
"What are we gonna do now?" kunta asked, his eyes observing every shop and office they passed by, looking for clues about the modern business world.
Jayak, wearing the simple clothes they bought from a second-hand clothing store, pointed to a building with the signboard "Security Guard". "I can work there. Guarding and protecting is my forte" he said confidently.
Mado noticed a shop with a large board that read "Internet Cafe". "Maybe I can find a job here. I can write, like I always do."
The three decided to try their luck at a place of their choosing. Jayak walks into the security office, Mado heads for an internet cafe, and Kunta decides to visit several shops and offices to understand more about the business.
Inside an internet cafe, Mado sits in front of a computer. He looked at the screen, the keyboard, and a small object called 'mouse'. With furrowed brows, he asked the cafe waiter, "How do I use it?"
The waiter, with an impetuous smile, explained, "That's the mouse, sir. You can use it to move the cursor on the screen."
Mado held the mouse hesitantly, but when she saw him twitch, she threw it on the floor while shouting, "Rice! There's rats!"
Mado felt embarrassed, took the mouse and sat back down, trying to write in a way she was familiar with: typing on the keyboard.
Meanwhile, at the security office, Jayak is undergoing an interview. "So you have experience in the field of security?" ask the office manager seriously.
Jayak, with shining eyes, replied, "Then, in my village, I was the best swordsman. I can protect and fight."
The manager looked confused but interested. "Alright, we'll give you a chance. You can start tomorrow."
When it was dark, the three met again. Kunta, with a new spirit, said, "I've understood quite a bit about the business here. We can start something new."
They walked together, sharing stories about their day. With each step, they increasingly understand this modern world and how they can adapt in it. Despite many challenges and difficulties, their spirit of friendship and hard work guides them through every obstacle.
As time passes in the modern city, the three begin to realize how important technology is in everyday life. Despite trying hard, they still feel overwhelmed by all the innovations that are in front of their eyes.
A sunny afternoon, Jayak sat in the living room of the small apartment they rented, staring at the flat box called the television. The screen displayed moving pictures in a clear voice, leaving Jayak fascinated. "Is this a window to another world?" he asked with wide eyes, touching the screen with his rough fingers.
Mado walked into the room with a teacup in her hand, "That's not a window, Jayak. It was television. A tool that displays pictures and sounds from all over the world."
Jayak tilted his head, "But how is it possible? Is this magic?"
Mado smiled, "It's not magic. It's technology."
In another corner of the apartment, Kunta is obsessed with a small square-shaped object called a calculator. He pressed the buttons with excitement, seeing the numbers appear on the screen. "Looky! I can see numbers without counting!"
With overflowing zeal, the next day Kunta went to the market with a calculator in hand. He stood in the crowd, offering his services. "Listen! I have a magical tool that can tell you the future! With just a few coins, I will tell you what will happen!"
The surrounding people exchanged glances, puzzled by Kunta's strange offer. An old man approached Kunta, gave some coins and asked, "Well, how much is the result of seven times nine?"
Kunta, confidently, typed the numbers on the calculator and showed the result, "See! The answer is 63!"
The old man laughed, "That's not a prophecy of the future. It's just basic math!"
Mado, who happened to be in the market, approached Kunta and whispered in his ear, "The calculator is just for counting, not for divining."
Kunta looked disappointed, "Oh, I guess I've found a treasure."
In the apartment, as night fell, Mado sat in front of the computer, trying to understand the concept of the internet. "So, it's like a big library that contains all the information?"
Jayak, who is now a big fan of the television show, replied without taking his eyes off, "That's what you said, but I'm still confused."
Mado clenched her hands, frustrated, "All this is confusing. There's so much to learn."
Jayak stood up, turned off the television, "Maybe we don't need to understand everything. Maybe we just need to understand what's important to us."
Mado nodded, "You're right. The world is big, and we still have plenty of time to learn."
The three sit together, realizing that although modern technology may be confusing, they have each other to guide them through all the obstacles and difficulties. Technology may change, but their friendship remains strong.
