Three Cross - Time Youths

Three Cross - Time Youths
Battle and Courage

The sun had just begun its journey to the eastern horizon, shining on the village with a light slightly different from usual. In the distance, thick smoke began to appear, giving a sign that something big was going on. Jayak, with sharp eyes, stared at the smoke, as if trying to read the message hidden behind it.

"What is it, Jayak?" tanya Kunta, follow the direction of Jayak's view.

"The big bonfire from the village next door," Jayak replied in a serious tone, "I heard the news that they are preparing to attack us."

Mado, with an anxious expression, added, "We must prepare. Don't know what they're gonna do."

In a tense atmosphere, Mado had an idea to make a refuge for them. "We need a helmet! I have an idea."

Without wasting any time, Mado started working with the materials around her. He took some dried coconut shells and began carving them into the shape of a helmet. However, the end result was far from what he had imagined. The helmet he made even looks like a party hat with decorative leaves around it.

Jayak, despite trying to hold back, could not cover his smile. "Mado, what is this? Helmets for war or hats for parties?"

Kunta, who was more blatant, immediately burst into laughter. "That's the most unique helmet I've ever seen! I think our enemies will laugh until they forget to attack us."

Mado, with a flushed face, replied, "I'm just trying to help! But yeah, I seem to be less good at war."

"Calm down, Mado," Jayak said as he patted Mado on the shoulder, "At least you've tried. Besides, maybe this helmet can distract the enemy."

The atmosphere that was supposed to be tense was now a little lighter thanks to Mado's 'helm' creation. However, their laughter immediately came to a halt upon hearing the sound of drums from a distance. Signs of war are becoming more real.

"They're getting closer," Jayak said seriously, "We need to plan a strategy."

"How about we send a peace envoy?" mado proposes, "Maybe we can solve this without bloodshed."

Jayak nodded, "That's a good idea. Kunta, are you ready?"

Kunta took a deep breath, "I will. But I need both of you'll help."

Jayak patted Kunta on the back, "We're behind you. We'll face it together."

The three then prepared to face the approaching threat. Although different ways, they both have the determination to protect the village and their loved ones. And amid the tension, a helmet made by Mado provides a little entertainment and hope for them.

The village is on alert. Jayak, with his firm leadership, stood in the middle of the village square, where the residents gathered, preparing to receive instructions. The morning air was still cool, with the dew still lingering over the leaves, creating an atmosphere that contrasted with the tense atmosphere in the village.

"We can't just sit and wait for them to attack" Jayak said in a loud voice. "We need to have a strategy. We need to unite!"

Kunta and Mado stood beside him, staring at the faces of the villagers who looked anxious yet determined.

Jayak continued, "First of all, we need to build up the defense. Stone walls and moats around the village. Second, we need to practice together. Everyone, men and women, young and old, need to know how to defend themselves."

Mado nodded, "I can teach them how to make traps. It can deter the enemy."

Jayak pointed at Mado, "Well, Mado will lead the making of the trap. Kunta and I will teach you how to fight."

As the training session began, Kunta, who was holding a spear, looked a little awkward. Jayak gave instructions to swing the spear forward with a quick movement. However, Kunta misunderstands the instructions and ends up dancing with his spear, like a traditional dancer in the middle of a village party.

The village that had been tense, instantly exploded in laughter. Some children even imitated the movements of Kunta, making the atmosphere even more carefree.

Mado, with a bitter laugh, said, "Cunta, you do have a hidden talent as a dancer!"

Kunta, with a reddened face but still adoring, replied, "Who said the spear was only for fighting? We can dance with her too!"

Despite a small mistake, the atmosphere of the village became slightly lighter. Jayak, who understood the moral importance of this situation, let the villagers laugh for a moment before taking the practice seriously.

Hour after hour, the village is working hard. Stone walls began to form, trenches began to be dug, and villagers began to be adept at swinging their weapons. In a short time, the once vulnerable village now looked like an impenetrable fortress.

As the sun began to sink, Jayak gathered with Mado and Kunta, staring at the results of their hard work. "We have done our best" said Jayak in a soft voice, "Now, we just need to prepare and hope for the best."

Kunta, in his spirit, replied, "With our strategy, I am sure we will succeed."

Mado added, "And if they keep coming, we'll dance with our spears, not Kunta?"

Kunta laughed, "Of course! We'll dance and fight at once!"

The three of them laughed, closing the day filled with preparation and hope.

The sun had not yet fully awakened when the village was already engulfed in a commotion. A thick morning mist enveloped the village, but in the distance, the sound of trumpets and the clattering of soldiers' feet from the enemy tribe was already heard clearly. The faces of the villagers showed anxiety, but also courage.

Jayak stood in front of the village's defense line. "We've prepared. We know our strategy. We can't panic. Remember, our defenses are strong, and we've got each other."

Kunta, although looking tense, gave her encouragement, "We've prepared as best we can. Now it's time we show them who we really are."

Meanwhile, Mado looked slightly agitated, holding her spear anxiously. However, as he looked around and saw the faces of his acquaintances, his determination recovered. "We'll survive. For our family. To our village."

Before long, the enemy tribe emerged from the fog, shouting with fighting spirit. They ran towards the village at full speed, but the village was ready. The traps that had been prepared by Mado began to work, hampering the first move of the enemy tribe. Some of them fell, while others were shocked.

Jayak ordered his troops to be ready, "Wait until they get closer! Don't let them break our ranks!"

However, amidst the commotion of the battle, an unexpected incident appeared. A chicken, with white feathers glistening in the morning sunlight, ran into the battleground. Not only that, the chicken seems to be chasing the frightened-looking Mado.

"Mado! What are you doing?" kunta shouted while laughing.

"Damn it! This chicken has been following me since yesterday!" mado exclaimed as she ran zig-zagging, trying to avoid the chickens chasing her.

For a moment, the battlefield looked like a stage play. Some fighters from both sides even paused for a moment to see the romp between Mado and the chicken. Jayak, though visibly frustrated, could not help but laugh.

However, soon after, the battle resumed fiercely. Jayak took advantage of the surprise moment of the chicken incident to lead the counterattack. With good coordination, the village began repelling the attacks of the enemy tribes.

The clock passed, and the sun began to rise high. The enemy tribe seemed to be exhausted and started to retreat. Their originally feisty arrival was now replaced with disappointment and defeat.

When the battle was over, the village celebrated their victory. Mado, despite looking tired, still looked wary of the chicken that had chased her.

"You know, Mado," Kunta said with a laugh, "Maybe the chicken just wants to join the battle and choose you as its partner."

Mado snorted, "Alright, maybe I'll consider it for the next battle."

Jayak patted Mado on the shoulder, "We've won, and it's thanks to the hard work of all of us. And of course, thanks to the help of that brave chicken."

The three of them laughed, enjoyed their victory, and were grateful for the togetherness that had saved their village.
