The Way Back Home's
Brothers

Farrel did not start immediately but fell silent. His mind knew another important thing to reveal. It is no less important than the issue of certificates Eden’s Lodge. After establishing his heart, he spoke. “Before, there was one secret I thought you needed to know. It's just you, Libby. I mean, not yet. He's still too small. Can I entrust this secret to you, Milo?”

“I'm sick of your secret game, Farrell. Just say it directly!” Milo's tone rose but his voice swallowed.

“This is very serious and important.”

“Serious truth that dad was in jail and the fact that uncle was evil? I don't think there's anything worse than that.” As if struck by his own words, Milo sighed. His right hand rubbed his face. “Yes, geez. Our holiday was suddenly filled with bad things. Uncle and aunt so evil, appeared a witch named Denise, there is a doll potion — or what's the name —, then the world of magic. Okay, I like the last part. The point is, I've had too many surprises. Any secret this time won't surprise me. I can keep a secret, maybe even better than you. You know it. So, just tell me what's this serious-important secret?”

Farrell threw his gaze at the table. Libby's cup of tea reflects off her own face. “What would you do if I were an outsider?”

“Hmmm. You mean, you're like a cop in disguise, right?”

“Ya, that kind.”

Milo chuckles. “Hahaha... Nice joke!”

Farrell shook his head. “Milos. I'm not kidding. Me...”

Milo stopped, waiting for his brother to speak. He waited for a few moments. However, because he did not get an answer, Milo asked again. “What else now?”

Farrell looked back at Milo and asked, “You know why Denise's mannequin potion didn't work on me?”

Milo shrug. “Entahlah. This magical world is new to me. Where do I know.”

“I too. I've just been told that the main factor of the mannequin potion is old man's blood. It looks like Denise used father's blood in her mannequin concoction. That's what makes you affected by the herb mannequin and obey Denise.”

“I'm not a chemist. I can't guess where you're talking.”

“It's not about chemistry, Milo—”

“OK. So about this biology?” Milo answered first. “You want to say that father's blood doesn't flow in you? You're not father and mother's biological children so you're immune from mannequin concoctions. So?”

Today Milo guessed everything well, much better than he originally thought. Farrell knew one day his secret would be exposed. There's no harm in telling Milo now. He was actually curious how Milo reacted after knowing everything. Will Milo behave like an uncle and stay away from him? Farrell took a deep breath as Remy used to do to relieve his anxiety. Only then did he continue, “True. I am not the biological son of father and mother.”

Milo's eyes were wide and his mouth was gaping. “Wow..”.

“Your guess told me again, eh?” Farrell pulled himself away from the table. His back was leaning against the cushion of the chair, his eyes were glaring upwards, his nose was taking a deep breath. He didn't want to see Milo's face after hearing the confession.

Milo said his sentence slowly. “You. Sure. Joking.”

Farrell still did not respond. Silence would leave them. He still did not dare to look at Milo or mince a cup of tea. “I hope I'm joking,” he murmured softly.

Milo shook his head, still with wide eyes, “That's cool!”

Farrell returned his gaze forward. “What? What did you just say?”

“That's cool!”

“Instead it! That's why I said it's so cool! You were in the Eden family, being my brother and Libby, growing up with us, picking up on uncle's ugliness, and finding out where dad was. You're even ready to fight Denise now. That was so very very coincidental!” Milo looked at her while smiling widely. There was no more anger in his body. Farrell's secret just got him excited. “Yes, although I don't believe the name is coincidence, anyway.”

Farrell frowning. “You don't hate me?”

“Hate you? Let me think for a moment.” Milo's finger stroked his chin. Then, he laughed. “Hahaha. Why do I hate you?”

“I shouldn't be here.”

Milo laughed again. Farrell is getting more and more gawking. Milo punched his brother's arm and smiled broadly. “Come on, is this problem that big? What if you are not a father and mother's son? You grew up with me and Libby, which means you're family. Still my brother. Still an Eden. The family should stay together. Your place should be here.”

Farrell was at a loss for words. He didn't think Milo could talk like that. Milo went from being a shitty boy to a sweet little sister. Milo's words returned a smile to his face. “Family, yes? Last bastion..” Farrell murmured.

“Wow! That's a nice remark from Grandpa. So, still feel like you shouldn't be here?”

Farrell wears a big smile. “Ngak. We should be home now enjoying the holidays. I'll solve all these problems soon.”

“We!” Milo cleared his throat and corrected. “We will solve this problem, bring father and mother home, enjoy vacation together at home. I don't realize how much I miss cell phones, games, the internet, cable TV, even the ringing of the house bell. Complete with pizza delivery in front.”

“Will I eat the full pizza after we come from here.”

“Yeah! That's my brother.” Milo punched the air.

“Now, I need to correct your words.” Farrell is back on the topic. “I'm not going against Denise. I mean, we. We're not going to fight it. Denise caught Christo and mom. She even got mom bitten by a poisonous spider.”

“What!?” Milo screaming.

“Sst! I don't want Libby to hear this talk.” Farrell continued. “If we hand over the certificate tomorrow, Denise will give the antidote to mom.”

“OK. So we'll obey him?”

“Yes, we have no choice. We must obey his will.”

“You're sure that magic granny will give you the antidote? What if from the beginning, the antidote does not exist?” milo asked, but his brother did not answer. Milo knew his words made Farrell more depressed. Now, he also began to feel pressure. Milo let out a long sigh and replaced the topil. “Then, at least tell me where the certificate is.”

Farrell placed both hands on the table and buried his own face into the palm of the hand. He let out a sigh that was no less long than Milo. “I don't know. This magical world is new to all of us. Christo said, the three of us set the location.” A second later Farrell realized his own words. “Wait a minute. The certificate can be anywhere we want. Including... Included here!”

“You mean? I don't understand.”

“We can call that certificate here.”

“Then, what's the point? We still have to hand it to Denise tomorrow.”

“Maybe... Before, there are things I should make sure first.”.
