Farrell recounts how he met Vincent and their agreement was tomorrow.
“You know why Vincent so easily complies with your request?” ask Christo.
“Do you think it's too easy?”
“In the ordinary world and the magic world, it is natural that we are suspicious of each other. More criminals and fraudsters are loitering. For the witches, there was at least one most practical way. Mind reading.”
“Wait! Vincent can read my mind?”
“Elioscavea is one of Eden’s Lodge loyal customers. They come at least once a month, Vincent the most often. I don't know her magic and magic skills, but she can read minds. Pretty shitty to be honest. You will not realize when he peeked into your brain,” continued Christo. “I didn't expect to meet him here at all.”
Farrell just smiled. At first glance, he caught the impression that Christo was disappointed because it did not occur to him that Vincent could help them. “Do you think Vincent is a good man?”
“He is friendly to us. But, that's not a guarantee. We can only know dawn later.”
That very night, Christo helps Farrell work out a plan. He sent Gizmo to check on the situation at the inn, where Libby and Milo were and how they were doing, as well as Denise's next plan. Remy sent back information. He clearly doesn't know what Denise's plan is. Jim and Joe are still out there, Denise and her uncle look after her siblings.
Christo recounts another entrance to Eden’s Lodge. Through the portal that is usually used by visitors. The portal is on the edge of town near the guard post. It's at the end of a small dead end alley. Alan Eden asked the mayor's permission to create a portal there. The mayor was very happy because the portal added more visitors in his city.
When dawn came, Vincent appeared near the park chair where Farrell met yesterday. He was alone, still wearing a black coat and gloves. The temperature at dawn is lower than at night. Moreover, the wind blew quite fierce this time.
Farrell himself came out from behind the tree. He didn't expect Vincent's potion to keep him warm all night. He and Christo decide to stay out of town because Jim and Joe could be hanging around there. If Denise's two guards find them in town, they're done. They finally spent the night out there. It was the first time Farrell had slept with snow and the roof of the night sky. Now Farrell hopes that the herb has no side effects because they drink it repeatedly.
Vincent stepped over while reaching into the pouch, picking up a small bottle of another potion.
“There is good news and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?” Vincent opened the conversation while handing over the potion bottle. It contained clear liquid exactly like water. It was just that when it was exposed to the light, there was a yellow luster within it.
“I hate bad news.”
“It should be so.” Vincent sees Christo coming from behind Farrell. When Vincent threw a smile, Christo replied to him with a soft nod. “But with his help, it should be easier for you to return to the inn as soon as.”
“The banquet is permanent starting?” guess Farrell.
“Worse. Your sister is sick and I think her fever is pretty high.”
“Milo?”
Vincent nodded. “Your uncle doesn't seem to care about him. He kept asking your two sisters around looking for something. This morning, they plan to come here to continue their search here.”
“Uncle is not as good as I thought, huh?” Farrell can only duck. His hand tightly grasped the antidote potion. Then he looked at Christo. “Maybe I've lost one step. But I won't let uncle do anything. Do you think we can ambush them here?”
“What do you mean by ambush?” Christo finally spoke.
“He thought of pulling Milo and Libby from his uncle, giving them the antidote potion, then ran.” Vincent helped provide a brief explanation.
Christo folded both his hands. “I'm sure you just read Farrell's mind, eh?”
Vincent just smiled. “Pretty useful, ‘kan?”
Christo looked at Farrell. “You know I suck at magic. I can't fight Denise if Jim and Joe are with her. But, I can distract him if you want. During that time, you can pull them away.”
“You gave all this to me?”
Vincent nodded. “Ya and I will also help you distract.”
“That's danger! If Denise knows you're helping me, she can attack you too.”
This time Vincent nodded. “No need to worry about that. He won't dare because he knows who I am. After all, from the beginning my goal was to meet your uncle. I can distract your uncle — and your aunt, if he comes — then you can save your brother. I thought this sounded like a plan.”
“That's a great plan.”
“They plan to come here after breakfast. I think six o'clock more, they'll be up.”
“No. New breakfast prepared at half-seven,” Christo said.
“Thank you, Albert Eden is advancing breakfast hours for his family. I think it's better now that we get ready near the portal, just in case,” Vincent said again as he glanced at his watch. “And I thought, I should have gone first. Good luck.”
“Thank you.”
Vincent smiled and returned to the city.
Farrell and Christo are both. Christo shook his head, astonished. “I never thought that you could ask for his help.”
“What kind of family is the Elioscavea family?”
“They are family entertainers. There are many such things in the world of magic. But, the Elioscavea family is the oldest and strongest of the confectioners. They employ many employees, ranging from low-class performers to high-end bodyguards. Dare to touch his family members and there will definitely be a war.”
Farrell closed his mouth tightly.
“Let me guess, you have absolutely no idea what Vincent is like.”
Farrell shook his head. “Just like you who are blind about magic, I'm totally blind about witches. Any other info I should know?”
“William?”
“Why with him?”
“She can be a bit of magic and really likes to joke. Sometimes it's too late. He once turned into your uncle and went into the room when your aunt came out of the bathroom. Fortunately, your aunt didn't know that William was actually in. That's his secret that was drowned during his work here.”
“That's why William is obedient to you?”
“Observice? He only respects me because I am more senior than him.”
“Did he respect you until now?”
“Of course. Not that he's arrogant, but I think he respects me more than your uncle.”
“He can help us, ‘kan?”
Christo was silent for a moment. When his gaze met Farrell, now he seemed to be able to read his thoughts as well. “You want to tell him to change to who?”
