“Is there a problem?”

Returning to the classroom, Ono immediately whispered to Satoru with a worried expression. In response, the young man shrugged with a relaxed expression on his face.

“Nothing. My grandfather only called because he was worried. Maybe he thought that I wouldn't stand it when it came to this place.”

“Ah! So I see,” muttered Ono with a relieved expression.

At first, he thought that there was a problem with the Satoru family. But who would have thought it turned out that the young man's grandfather contacted him out of concern. Hearing that, Ono felt a little envious because his relationship with his family was not that good.

Realizing something, Ono couldn't help but ask, “Why not call you directly? After dinner, we can use the cell phone for a while, right? Although the signal is a bit bad, but it can still be done.”

Hearing the question, Satoru's originally somewhat bright expression turned grim. Sitting in his chair, he let out a long sigh then spoke in a depressed tone.

“I had a fight with my grandfather. So, I accidentally forgot the toolbox containing the phone and other items while leaving here.”

Ono was a little surprised. He did not expect that the usually calm Satoru could be angry and behave a little childishly. The young man could also quarrel with others.

At that moment, Ono immediately recalled how Satoru had hit him, Manabu, and Takeo. Recalling that uncomfortable sensation, he immediately shook his head. The young man thought that fighting with Satoru was not a good idea.

More like suicide! If not, it's like asking for a beating!

Meanwhile, Satoru who had just returned to his seat immediately took out a book. Since the break time stayed a bit, he did not teach Jiro and a few other friends, just preparing for the next lesson.

In the afternoon, at the riding club.

Back then, all the members of the riding club gathered in front of the cage. Mr. Sengoku gathered them together to make an important announcement.

“For Golden Week this time, is anyone staying at school? If there is, please raise your hand.”

Hearing that, Satoru and Ono raised their hands. Not only them, there were also two other girls namely Natsumi and Miyuki.

Mr. Sengoku looked at Natsumi for a moment then let out a long sigh. Counting the four people who stayed, he finally returned to talk.

“Because the picket schedule is not set and there happen to be enough people, I want to ask you guys to help take care of the stables during Golden Week. Does anyone mind?”

“It just so happens that I don't have any plans, so it doesn't matter.” Satoru shrugged his shoulders.

“I don't want to go home, but just staying at school must be boring. I can do this,” Natsumi said with a smile on her face.

“S-I also have no problem.” Miyuki nodded with a timid expression.

“...”

Meanwhile, Ono fell silent in his place. After going through the grueling days where a lot of stress made him quite stressed, the young man wanted to use the Golden Week holiday to laze around and do healing. However, now he was instead asked to take care of the stables.

That task really made him very depressed!

Merely, Ono still nodded with a reluctant expression as he looked at Satoru, Natsumi, and Miyuki who did not mind at all. He could not refuse the task himself as it made him feel uncomfortable.

“Then, you can do the exercises as usual. Of course, you have to complete the task first before practice.”

Hearing that, the 1st grade disciples were a bit pouting. After all, compared to the duty of the upperclassmen in charge of taking care of the horses, they were more hassles from having to clean the stables, dispose of dirt, and replace the hay as a horse pedestal was still more troublesome. No one likes to do that kind of work.

After throwing the dirt to the collection point, Satoru looked at the listless-looking Ono.

“Is there a problem, Ono?”

“No.” Ono shook his head. “I thought if I could take a relaxing vacation. Spending a week to make up for fatigue in the previous days. I really didn't expect that I would be asked to take care of the stables and all the contents.”

“I won't be back home!” ono firmly with a serious expression.

Seeing Ono's expression, Satoru was convinced that the problem the young man was having was completely unusual. Even though he did not want to interfere, the young man ended up still plunging into it.

“If there is a problem, you can tell a story. If you don't say it, I don't understand at all the reason why you're so angry when talking about home.”

Hearing Satoru's words, Ono who initially seemed so angry immediately fell silent. The young man had a complicated expression on his face. After a while, he let out his emotions.

“How can I not be angry? Humans are different from livestock. But in reality, aren't we the same?

We were raised to achieve something our parents wanted! They force us to be what they want us to be. It even gives us a cap of ‘baik’ or ‘pah’ when we do not know what we are going through!

From childhood I loved to study and spend my time on it! But I can't finally surpass my brother! I wasn't even accepted into the best High School in Sapporo!

I didn't participate in excursions, I didn't play or date, I spent my time studying, taking courses, reviewing, and doing everything I could! Yet it still ended up failing, considered an inferior and hated product!

I-“

“Doesn't that mean you came to this place to escape? Doesn't that mean you're just a losing loser running away and complaining because the world doesn't run around you?”

Just then, Satoru instantly interrupted with a flat speech. His expression looked blank, his eyes looked gloomy and murky. It looks completely different than usual.

Ono was stunned because he never thought that the friendly and kind Satoru would say such a cold thing.

“What do you know! You have excellent grades, have a lot of expertise, have a good physique, have a handsome face, and a myriad of advantages! You don't know how I feel!

You have all seen what kind of future you will have! You don't understand what it's like to be a dumbass like me!”

After listening to all of Ono's complaints, Satoru took a deep breath with his eyes closed. When he opened his eyes, the young man asked, “Done?”

“Satoru, you-“

“Just because you failed to get into the best school, do you think your life is over? Just because we all have goals, do you think the path we face is easy?

Open your eyes, you idiot! Who wouldn't want to change their life for the better? Who doesn't struggle for a better life?

I don't know how anyone else is, but you can see our friends!

Do you think Manabu's goal can be solved easily? Do you think Takeo's back isn't heavy because it brings his sisters' future?

I can do anything well? Do you think it makes me feel pretty and proud? No!”

Satoru's expression turned colder. He immediately approached Ono, grabbed the collar and lifted the young man up high.

“I don't know how your family is and what home is like for you. However, I envy you guys who have a father and mother!

Am I great to you? But for me this is not enough! In this life, at least I want to make an achievement that makes my grandfather proud! I want to repay her bud!

By making happy the only person I could consider family, I at least felt my life was more useful!

We are young and the future is long. Do you think people can live forever? Do you think I wasn't worried when I saw that old man's hair had turned all white!

If it's like this I can't do it! When can I reach my true goal!”

Seeing Ono who was stunned in his place, Satoru instantly dropped him. The young man then left the place with a gloomy expression.

Meanwhile, not far from there, Natsumi who was previously about to call the two of them could only hide herself. Lean against the wall while closing your eyes, listening to everything without saying a word.
