What's Special about Him
“Zan?” Ask the woman, grimly. He looked angry, but, still held him back.
The woman's personal carrying was very calm and elegant, she was a middle-aged woman with an ayu face, fair-skinned and straight hair, neatly coiled with a golden-colored skewer.
“Why are you so long? Mom has been waiting for you!” Said Rahima, the woman who used to be called Ima. She was the wife of Hadian and the biological mother of Arfan.
Arfan is Fauzan's half-brother, a man who is lying weakly on the bed of the VIP Hospital ward, with life support tools attached to his body. For months the man had been in a coma and Fauzan had been guarding and taking responsibility for him.
The accident happened in a swimming pool while they were joking and was the cause of Arfan's coma. Fauzan had no idea how his sister had fallen but, he did not immediately resort to any rescue measures. The man, in fact, panicked and nervous when he saw blood everywhere so he felt guilty until now.
“Sorry, Ma.” That's the only word that came out of Fauzan's mouth.
“Sorry, good. Mama's late, right? You even run around! Where are you going?”
While in the car on the way home to drive Nadia, Fauzan received a call from his mother if there was a good development from Arfan because the radiograph sound connected to the heartbeat showed a different tone.
While the woman would go to the socialite assembly as usual, that is why she needed Fauzan to wait for her sister because she hoped that at any time she would soon realize, that is Fauzan's function as a guard.
Fauzan and Nadia are in the room where Arfan is being treated.
“Zan! Why are you quiet?” ima asked again in annoyance, occasionally she glanced at Nadia who remained standing quietly beside Fauzan.
“I think there was Mr. Jali or Ella!” sahut Fauzan while sitting on the sofa that was there. His hand waved at Nadia to sit next to him and the woman sat down, after nodding respectfully at Ima.
Ima glanced at him at a glance, then continued to talk, “Tadi there is Pak Jali but, Mama kicked him out of here because, Mama does not believe in him. If Ella, she didn't say or call if she wanted to come here. Ah, at least he wants to meet you, not take care of your sister!”
The Ella they mentioned was Arfan's lover before he had an accident. They are very compatible lovers, Fauzan also supports their relationship. However, ever since Fauza's half-sister was in an accident and in a coma, his attitude gradually began to change. She becomes a woman who tries to attract the attention and tease Fauzan.
That's why Ima hated him so much. However, both of Ella's parents were her friends as well so she couldn't do anything about it. Even the girl was too stubborn, although, Ima had already shown a determined and indifferent attitude, Ela still tried to attract the attention of Fauzan. Although they were both in the ward where Arfan was being treated.
“Tadi, he chatted me, Ma ...” said Fauzan when Ima was already sitting in front of him.
“Terus?”
“Nah, He said if you want to see Arfan, I happen to be still filling gasoline for a long time, because I think he's here replace Mama.” Fauzan replied while showing Ima, the contents of his chat with Ella on his phone.
The middle-aged woman only caught a glimpse of him then, snorting softly. He leaned his back while slowly piling up his legs and, folding both of his hands in front of his chest.
“Who, him? How, from earlier you did not know Mama?” ima said while advancing her chin towards Nadia.
“Oh, yes ... knowin, Ma, she's Nadia.” Fauzan said as he straightened his back and turned to Nadia and smiled. “Ma, this is Nadia, she will be a candidate for Mama's daughter-in-law deh.”
Nadia mentioned her name with a smile, while shaking tightly Rahimma's hand outstretched warmly.
“Why, your shoulder?” ask Imma when paying attention to the objection device of his shoulder that is still not healed properly.
“I've been in an accident, Bu.”
“Oh, my son is also out of accidents,” Ima said as she pointed towards Arfan's bed, with her chin. “But, you're still lucky unlike him.”
“Yes. Aamiin,” says Imma.
“Banar, right, Ma. She's good.” Fauzan.
“Did you say he would be my man-to-be? Does it fit your criteria?” ask Ima again.
“Already, all this time he has never seen my face has not known me but, he is still good. Ever, Ma, he feeds me to fullness when I do not give him anything.”
“Do not lie to you with Mama .. where there is such a woman,” Imma said with a grinning smile on her lips.
“There is proof, Nadia!”
After Nadia listened to the two-person conversation between the mother and the child, she kept thinking that Fauzan's relationship with the woman who became her stepmother, was a constant one, it turned out to be fine unlike the issues he had heard.
Earlier, she heard that Fauzan's stepmother was so hateful, curbed, exiled, even forbidding her from introducing herself or revealing her true identity. So that the child is not known and lives miserable as punishment for the mistake has made his sister wretched.
But Nadia caught Fauzan's lie. Making the girl upset because, obviously, they already know each other, even know his face. How could he tell a lie to a woman who was his stepmother.
Ima turned to Nadia and looked at her sharply, then she asked full of probing.
“Do you know Zan, this brat in a narrow boarding house?”
“Ya,” says Nadia honestly.
“You know him as unemployed?”
“Ya.” Nadia replied with astonishment means that all this time Ima knew the whereabouts of the child, but, what does it mean? Thought Nadia.
So, is it not true at all that this Fauzan was banished and exiled as punishment? Nadia said in her heart.
“Terus you don't hate that same guy like him, nyebelin, unemployed, don't have money, right?”
“Sorry, Mom. I don't hate it, but I know that humans should respect each other. I suspect maybe, Mr. Zan has his own reasons why he chose to be unemployed and lazy.” Nadia answered carefully so as not to cause misunderstandings.
“What, you call him, sir?” asked Ima while chuckling small.
“Ya,” replied Nadia
“Terus?” ask Imma after she stops laughing.
“I pity also he is hated by people around especially mothers because I think, there is no harm in doing good to fellow humans yes, right?”
“So, it's true you've never seen his face, but you've fallen in love with him?” tanya Imma made Nadia cornered because she did not fall in love with Fauzan at all, even she had seen his face many times.
“Aw!” suddenly Nadia screamed softly while grimacing withstanding the pain in her legs.
