Bad Karma

The medical team is ready in the operating room. They all try to give their best to the patient and his family.

A sweat splashed on the forehead of the surgeon who was handling Vincent and Miss Winda. Vital signs of donors and recipients are still monitored safely from the monitor. The doctor began slashing Vincent's waist with a scalpel. The nurse beside him wiped the sweat of the doctor who was playing the most important role today.

Everything looks so tense inside the surgical room. Only sound indicators from the patient monitor.

The calmness in the room ended when a nurse heard a call to report that Ms. Winda's vital condition was declining.

"So, the donor's heart rate suddenly weakens!" exclaim the nurse.

The medical team took several measures to make Ms. Winda's heartbeat stable again. But destiny says something else.

BIIIIPPPPPPPP....

Shortly after Miss Winda left, Vincent followed. A heavy burden now rests on the hearts of the entire medical team in the room. At about the same time, two lives failed to be saved. It becomes a burden unto them.

Outside the operating room, Vika and the others are waiting for good news from the doctor. A nurse coming out of the operating room approached them. Vika was the first to approach women with surgical equipment.

"W-how's the operation, Sus?" ask Vika stammering.

"We've tried our best, ma'am. But destiny says something else. Sorry, donors and recipes have passed away. We're sorry."

Hearing the words of the nurse, Vika's world seemed to spin. It should fall like millions of dust. Vika's mouth is now locked, her heart closed and drowning in grief. The tears of the woman were gone. The sadness this time completely shook his soul. Tears are not enough to describe her heartache.

Vika's body went limp for a moment. The king who had been behind him, caught Vika's boneless body. Mahen also had to swallow a bitter pill. At one point, he lost two people he loved very much.

"Vik, Vika!" The king patted Vika's cheek gently.

The look of the woman in his arms was empty. Vika's lips were tightly clenched. He was seen staring at the door of the operating room in front of him.

"Chen ... why haven't you come out yet?" said Vika with a flat tone.

"Vika, please don't be like this." The king now shakes Vika's body, hoping for her consciousness to return.

"The chen! Get out, honey. Doesn't Chen want to go back to Bandung?"

"Vika, please, wake up!" exclaim King.

"Chen can take Miki home, let's go get Miki now! Get out, Chen!" yelled Vika hysterically.

The king could no longer bear to see Vika who seemed to lose her life. The man clutched Vika's body tightly. Vika was crying. His chest felt tight, his eyes were now flooded with tears, and his heart was shattered into pieces.

Outside the hospital, the sky seemed to cry for the departure of Vincent and Miss Winda. The weather suddenly turned cloudy. The sky began to spill its water.

~Nova POV~

"Mbok, I want to take Maura for a walk, yeah."

"Don't be long, huh, Non? Mbok is afraid later if suddenly the madam and the host go home, Maura is not at home," said Mbok Marni with a tone full of worry.

"Yes, Mbok. Maura, let's go for a walk, yuk."

"Come on! Ula wants ice cream, good!"

"Okay, let's go to papa's shop first, shall we?"

Maura nodded enthusiastically. Her little fingers are now covered with her mother's fingers. The little girl walked while jumping like a rabbit.

Along the way, Maura hummed some children's songs that she memorized. Occasionally Nova sang along while continuing to pay attention to the streets that began to crowded.

"Papa is now rarely at home, brother has not woken up," Maura said in a sad tone.

"What does Maura love sister?" ask Vika.

"Very dear! Brother is handsome, kind, and likes to smile," said Maura enthusiastically. Now her cheeks are red like cherries.

Nova just shook his head, looking at his daughter's gentile behavior. Nova wants to see Vincent at the hospital. No matter what everyone's expression is. He just wants to make amends to Maura, by obeying the desire to meet Vincent.

The mother-of-one wanted to make Maura feel happy. Every time he called Maura, the little girl always said she wanted to meet Vincent.

"Red light .. stop, Mama!" maura shouted giving an aba-aba.

Slowly Nova rebuked his car. While waiting for the green light he tickled around Maura's waist. No way that little girl's cracking up.

Forced Nova to raise her hand from Maura's waist. He started driving his car again. When it almost reached the zebra cross, suddenly a small busker ran.

Nova's heart almost exploded. He slammed the steering wheel to the left. The sound of a bang echoed that afternoon. Nova's car ringsek because it hit a big tree.

Nova felt something flowing from his forehead. The woman rubbed the part that felt wet. Fresh blood flowed slowly, starting to wet his thin brows.

"Blood-blood!" exciting Nova.

He remembered his daughter in the passenger seat. The sky seemed to collapse, Nova's heart felt squeezed, and her cries began to break.

Maura's tiny body slammed forward, her head pounding the car dashboard. His splattered blood splattered on the dashboard. Nova condemned his recklessness by not fitting Maura's seat belt properly.

Nova grabbed her daughter's tiny body, then she took it into her arms. Her crying is breaking. Nova's body is now shaking violently. His car is now mobbed by local residents and some road users who happen to pass.

The sound of ambulance sirens timidly split the crowd of the capital that was jammed. Within ten minutes, Nova and Maura were already in the hospital. A nurse cleaned the wound on Nova's forehead then placed an antiseptic plaster on it.

Nova's eyes were now empty. He could only see the medical team was busy crowding Maura's tiny body. The power of the woman seemed to be gone, nothing left.

"Patients need blood transfusions!" one of the doctors shouted, followed by the nurse who started to leave the room.

Nova is now sitting languidly in front of the IGD, bad thoughts swirling in his head. He rubbed his face rough repeatedly. His feet knocked on the floor repeatedly due to anxiety.

"Mrs Nova Adisti?" ask a nurse.

"Y-yes, I, Sus. How's my daughter doing?" asked Nova in a stammering voice.

"Your daughter is bleeding quite badly, she needs a blood transfusion. Meanwhile, the blood type that your daughter has is very rare. In the hospital there was only one bag. We've contacted the PMI, there are only three pockets. Your daughter still needs at least two bags" explained the nurse.

"Take my blood, Sus. Take as many as you need!" nova exclaimed amidst his sobbing and the roar of tears.

"What is your blood type?" ask the nurse.

"B positive" Nova replied briefly.

"I'm sorry, AB patient's blood type is negative. Maybe someone else has that blood type? Or at least rhesus negative?" ask the nurse.

"I will contact other relatives" Nova said, sobbing.

Vika again sat down lethargic on the bench. He reached into his expensive bag to find a cell phone.

When he was about to contact Mahen, his eyes caught the figure of the man.

"Mahen!" shout Nova.

Mahen stopped and turned his head towards the source of the voice. Nova immediately ran over to the man who was still her husband status.

"Ma-Maura is in need of a blood donor" Nova said.

"What do you mean?"

"Maura and I had an accident, and now she's in critical condition. He needs a donor right away" Vika explained.

"Where is Maura now?"

"Still on IGD" said Vika.

Mahen immediately ran down the hospital corridor and towards the IGD room. Arriving in the room, as if his world revolved to see the condition of his daughter who was lying limp on top of the gurney.

Slowly the man approached, reaching for a small hand with a hose fed with red liquid. In one day, he gets three surprises at a time. His feet could not stand on the ground. Destiny was painful for him.

"I will donate my blood for him" Mahen said.

He immediately took a thousand steps out of the IGD towards the nurse counter to apply as a donor.
